Very nice work. Hard hitting hammer. I have a 25lb LG and a 100 lb self contained pneumatic in my little shop. I’m old and tired. I couldn’t make anything without those hammers. You are going to love your hammer AND be proud of your creation?
Best one i've seen so far on youtube.. you should sell the plans to build it like some others do on youtube. leave a link for people who want to buy the plans.
Of all these guided helve leaf spring hammers builds I've seen, this is probably the cleanest build I've found. I'm assuming the frame's welded together from box tubing. Did you guys fill the hollow cavites in with sand or something? It sounds remarkably solid.
Thank you for appreciating all the hard work and designing and yes the box tube is filled with sand and is 1/2” thick wall 👍👍👍 we use it every day and not one thing broke or needed repaired not bragging but just proud of it.
Any chance you could show me how the hammer guide was built? I am building a pneumatic 100 lbs and really like how you are guiding the hammer. Thank you.
Thank you, me and my son worked very hard on making one as close to something bought and reliable. In 2 months we will be a 1 year review to show that it’s still being used weekly and nothing broke no changes or repairs. Glad you noticed all the quality welds all welds were done with the ESAB 215 welder with smart weld technology. Welds perfect every time and easy to program.
Congratulations RealStihl ! That's one of the best home designed and made hammers out there. I especially like the design of the foot control. Much easier to get fine control that way. :) How have you calculated the 100lb weight? Is it the actual weight of the moving hammer shaft, or the calculated striking force? Cheers, from downunda! :)
@@realstihl2105 You’re welcome and thanks for your reply. I had already drawn up plans for one very similar, but with a car tyre type drive. I have the heavy tube for the frame, leaf springs and motor and just got the 4” diameter ram on the weekend. It weighs 29kg (60 odd lb) and should be just right for my work. Anyway, good luck with your forging and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more. 😁👍🏼👏 Cheers!
Awesome build one of the best looking home builds I’ve seen, did you work from any plans or was it totally scratch build. The vdo is very inspirational for me.
Thank you!! No plans just some napkin drawings and built as we went with what scraps that we had to work with. I’m glad you appreciated and noticed all the hard work we put into it👍still working awesome use it about 3 to 4 times a week.
@@realstihl2105 well keep the VDOs coming. Looking forward to your next build, I’ve taken hundreds of screen shots of your build and started scratching out my own designs based on something very similar to your build regards the frame work and leaf spring, but I would use a car tire as part of the drive.
Nice job, I notice the anvil has a cap on it, is it solid or heavy walled pipe filled with lead? I have made one very similar in design and it works great, just like yours!
Awesome build I have been searching for a very long time for a good video of a homebuilt power hammer and I have to say this one is the best. Overall for the equipment and pieces you guys used to make it, it has to be one of the best I have seen built. Simple but Effective. Is there any chance that you perhaps have a blueprint or drawing of the overall dimensions that I could purchase from you ? Unless you found the plans online. If not no worries but I would be highly interested in building one for myself! Thank you for your time and great video!
Thank you!!! I wish I had some blue prints but I sorta built it as we went. If you start to build one and have any questions I would be glad to help you👍
Hahah that's how some of the best projects come together you just build as you go! I can certainly say that yours seems to be built better than most of the other homemade versions I have seen. Defiantly functions much smoother and bounces around a lot less than others. I have more questions about it than you would want to answer haha! Only thing I would be curious to still know is the length of the leaf spring that is being used. Thanks for offering your help! @@realstihl2105
The leaf spring is from an s10 Chevy pick I took the spring pack apart and pressed each leaf till it was straight and re stacked them I will send pics an length
Very Beautiful Design Congratulations On Making! How Much Time Did You Spend To Finish It And How Hard Is The Circus? Great greetings from Germany from Aleksandar
Me and my son spent a month making it from as much scrap metal as we could gather up. We had to by the motor big and small pulley, pillow block bearings and switch. Thanks a lot for appreciating all the hard work👍👍👍
Wow I would love to make these and sell them. Unfortunately to buy all the supplies and all the machining and welding it would cost a lot to make and sell I would say between $10,000 and $11,000. For an exact machine. We used all cutoffs from the machine shop it cost us only around $800. But finding those sizes again wouldn’t be easy.
Nice build! I do wonder why Americans always put a US flag on everything.. Are you all so prone to forgetting where you're from that it needs to be on everything? :O
Well used to be really proud to be American, till we got an asshole for a president named joe Biden! now just keeping it on till we get President Trump back 👍👍👍
Unlike your country, we Americans love our country and are proud to have our built in the USA stickers to tell everyone who made such an awesome machine 😂, and red, white and blue is just so pretty together...

Nice design. It's one of the best that I've seen in that style. Looks like it moves metal nice too.
Great looking machine. Glad to see that some people still put in some effort in making quality.👍😊
Thank you!!
Very nice work, one of the better and smoothest I have seen. I work as a draftsman, I would be more than happy the draw it up for you.
Thank you! Possibly one day that would be a good idea and we can sell the plans to make it or sell them 👍👍

Impressive work. It looks like it does the job for sure!

Nice machine. Excellent craftsmanship.
Super awesome! Really neat to look at while in operation, the spring looks like it's having a time of it, lol.
Thank you we worked hard at making move the best it can 👍👍👍

Well designed and built 👍
I’d like to see it more ,looks to be pretty solid

So depending on the thickness of material you are working, you have different thickness dies?
No I just adjust it in the back by turning the turn buckle. But very rarely it does a wide variety of thickness with out adjusting.
That is incredible! Can I ask how many hp you motor is? Thanks!
It is a 2hp 1800rpm motor from harbor freight.
