I met you in fifth grade. you came to my school and signed all of our books after we read them. You talked about your life and watched skits we did for you. This is something I will never forget. I have read the book three times since then and will read it again and again. God Bless you!
You were very lucky to meet this wonderful lady!👍🏻🌸I haven’t read her book and have only gotten partly through her testimony but will look for her book and read it! My daughter loves reading and I just wanted to ask if it would be suitable for an 11 year old?if not I will buy it and keep it aside until a future date!🌸👍🏻🙂🙏🏻
@@helencoven I read it at age 12 or 13 first, and am rereading it as an adult now more than 25 years later. There is death, but no sexual stuff that I recall. It was the FIRST novel length book that I was unable to put down as a young child. The FIRST novel length book I ever finished. Rereading it now I can understand why.
Alicia Appleman-Jurman's Testimony was one of the most interesting I've ever heard. How I wish the Interviewer did not interrupt so often, as it had to be annoying when Alicia was trying to get her point across. God Bless this wonderful woman whose instincts and good fortune kept her alive!
Absolutely. I’ve watched at least 30 interviews and Alicia was a very different but just as compelling as the most horrific I’ve heard. This wonderful brave woman deserves much more respect than this interviewer gave her
Every time Alicia says she wants to say something important the interviewer interrupts. She starts talking while Alicia is mid-sentence as if her questions are more important than Alicia’s story. God has blessed this woman to survive.
The interviewer was disrespectful. Alicia story is an important story to tell. It should be mandatory in schools these days. I especially with what’s going on these days
A truly wonderful woman, a horrifying early life with the loss of everyone she loved. She is so courageous, strong and wise. No bitterness, no hatred. She's simply incredible.
I first read her story when I was in the 7th grade. I grew up reading a lot of holocaust survivor stories, and Alicia's story has been the one that stands out for me. I was so moved by her story I read the book 7 times in a row. I have since reread her story 3 or more times since. I would love to meet Alicia. Such a strong and inspiring person.
Me too. She gave us a signed copy after speaking to our Jr High. I was so moved by her story that I've been reading her book continually ever since. I treasure it so much.
I first read her autobiography in the 8th grade. That was the first time I met her. She has influenced so much of my life. You don't know what it means to see this video. Thank you for sharing it!
What a brave, courageous lady, she had to grow up so quickly and take on so many responsibilities...so close to death so many times. Very inspirational to listen to her story.
I met Alicia when I was in sixth grade, we read her book in class, and she came out to our school and visited us. The other kids were too cool, but I went up snd talked to her. She signed my book and gave me a big warm hug. I’ll never forget her, snd her strength to survive
What a wonderful, positive, exuberant woman. Her story is just amazing. I wonder if I would have had her courage. I've read excerpts from her book " Alicia" and her story just captivated me.
Listening to their stories just makes you think about what the human body and spirit can make it through to survive. To hear what the endured is amazing. The aftermath, the emotional scars are so deep. They are the strongest people I've ever listened to.
It restores my faith in humanity to hear about people who make sacrifices for others instead of hearing people condemning others for not doing enough to help them. An inspirational lady.
I am so happy Alicia's testimony has been uploaded. She is an amazing, courageous woman who inspires me. I read her book some years ago and it touched me more than any other that I have read.
Thank you very much for this remarkable interview. How amazing this Noble woman is and how brave and honorable the children caught up in this terrible war was. How stark a comparison of good and evil of mankind Alisha described. The Lord surely preserved her to tell her story and bless so many left lives. To her family I say you come from powerful and righteous roots and may you live your mission on Earth as fully as Alisha has.
The interviewer had stopped Alicia when she attempted to talk about testifying in 1967 In the end the interviewer did not even remind Alicia about the 1967 testimony. What a shame. The SHOA committee did a fantastic job, however many of the interviewers did not fit the job.
The interviews were about trying to get witness as to what happened during the Holocaust years. There are transcripts of all of the court proceedings. Stop your criticism, because it is inappropriate.
It was very touching when she comforted the horse after she mistreated him. Horses really do cry. All animals feel emotional pain just as we do. Humans tell themselves that animals are unfeeling so that they can use and abuse them. This amazing woman did so much to help others while she herself was in danger. She is a true heroine.
I just finished your book, Alisha, My Story. I was so saad when it ended because I longed to know more about you. Did you ever become a doctor? I am so delighted to know that there is much more information about you on the internet. I look forward to reading and watching videos. Thank you so much for sharing your difficult story. Sincerely, Dana.
If this interviewer still interviews people, I sure hope she has learned to just listen and keep her mouth shut. I love listening to Alicia. She's good at telling the story. The interviewer is annoying with all of her interruptions.
OH GOSH she ACTUALLY CUT ALICIA OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF HER MOTHER BEING SHOT AND THE INTERVIEWER CUTS HER OFF AS SHE IS TELLING HER MOTHERS LAST WORDS INEXCUSABLE.
This woman is by far one of my favorites that I am thankful shared her story. Even through everything she still has the most beautiful and kind spirit.
What an unbelievably sad story. The courage, bravery and heroism this amazing woman showed her family and others was truly inspiring. This should be made a film!!! Wonderful lady.
WHOA! Right in the middle of telling about her father being shot to death in the forest she is cut off by the interviewer with WE CAN TALK ABOUT THAT LATER ! Just incredible !
Sad that you had to experience losing you Whole Family and live through all those horrible things, I glad you survived the war so you coud tell your story and I love the message about how to respect people of the World. I are one amazing woman
I read her book years ago and it has always stayed with me. She and her family went through so much pain and suffering, my heart cries for all she had to endure.
This woman is amazing! How a 12 year old girl, after having seen and experiencing all this horror and still able to keep herself together and protect her family like this? She is a very special person.
I'm so glad this is documented online and that so many people had a chance to interact with her, I too have a signed copy of her book as a result of interacting with her back in 1994 on Prodigy chat if anyone remembers that... 🙏
Such a lovely, beautiful lady who shared her personal testimony of how she lost so many of her family members but she herself miraculously survived being thrown from a train and after being captured & thrown into prison & even buried... she actually got to testify against one of those German tormentors in 1962...
I have listened to lots of Holocaust survivors... love her testimony because it is fast moving & the 3 hours goes by so quickly & doesn’t drag on... has such a lovely persona about her...
Thank you for the upload. Love Alicia's story. However, I feel like the interviewer isn't a professional interviewer, and I feel like she doesn't appreciate the story Alicia has to offer.
I loved listening to Alicia’s story! However, the interviewer is so annoying. She would interrupt Alicia constantly, not letting her finish some of what she wanted to say. Alicia is too kind. I would have told the interviewer to lay off and let me finish.
Alicia thank you for all your bravery and compassion. Your granddaughters and children and your book, your husband you have built your life despite what war and genocide did to you and your family. You are indeed a Lady.
Alicia Appleman-Jurman what a truly wonderful courageous loving woman how on earth she survived i will never know, however i am so glad she did because the world needs to know about the atrocities she experienced in a world that was so full of hateful murderous people, her story brought me to tears several times and left me with a very heavy heart at the loss of all her loved ones as well as the other innocent people & babies that lost their lives to a pack of deranged serial killers on such a massive scale. I truly hope that this history is never repeated i would like to think that mankind will learn to love & respect others for who they are and allow everybody to live in peace and harmony forever, of course this is what i would like but we must be vigilant so that if we see the signs emerging of a repeat of this travesty that we can nip it in the bud before it spills more blood.!!
