So good to see a booktuber recommending Drizzt! I love this series and have read every book - some more than once! When I started watching booktubers I was baffled that nobody talked about or recommended these books. I mean, these books are never mentioned that I've seen, ever. I still don't understand why. Drizzt is one of the most beloved (and awesome!) characters in fantasy. Sure, R.A. Salvatore hasn't won a Pulitzer, as you said, but these books are fun and enjoyable to read. If you check Goodreads virtually all the books have over 4 stars with tens of thousands of reviews. Happy Birthday, Andrew!
Which were your favorite books in the series? The Icewind Dale Trilogy was my introduction to Drizzt and will always have a place near the top but the Dark Elf Trilogy I think is my favorite
@@PuBearsticks I feel the same way. The Icewind Dale Trilogy for sure! I also tend to like the books that are heavy with Jarlaxle and/or Artemis. I always wished Salvatore would write a series about Artemis.

Nice to see some love for Drizzt! The forgotten realms books is where my fantasy reads journey started after Tolkien. Some of the later works in the series are great. It's full of great characters .
Great video, I’ve been reading the forgotten realms books for a long time, and the Drizzt books are some of the best of the realms books. For the record you pronounced almost all the names exactly the same way I do.

Homeland and the Dark Elf trilogy are a prequel series to Crystal Shard, published after. Both are fun, and both are good starting points, but Homeland is the one that focuses on Drizzt.
I love this! I have never read the Dark Elf series, but have always wanted to. I did read the Weis and Hickman Dragonlance books about 20 years or so ago and loved that series back then. I keep hearing Drizzt pop up lately though, so it might be time to finally delve into his books.
The way Salvatore wrote on the Dark Elves, they are easily more dark Indian (Hindu) type than black African in appearance. Movies or a major TV series on these books would be amazing.
Thanks for this video. I never played D&D, except if Baldur's Gate counts, you can meet Drizzt there. He is a good guy and helps you out, but I killed him to get his cool gear lol. I actually listened to the first one of the trilogy this year, I have to continue it, thanks for reminding me about it :)

Good video. Start here: The Crystal Shard isn’t very good. I’m not a big fan of Drizzt, I have loads of other Forgotten Realms novels I enjoy more. Erevis Cale is probably my favorite though one contemporary with the first Drizzt novels is Finder’s Stone Trilogy by Grubb and Novak. I just finished The Silent Blade and it’s a nice start to another Drizzt series with a lot more promise than Legacy of the Drow books. Dark Elf Trilogy is a solid 3 stars for each book IMO, but that’s more consistent than The Dragonlance Chronicles where each book only gets worse.
@@LiamsLyceum I really liked her songs & swords series ( the first couple were actually part of the harpers sub series ), her starlight and shadows trilogy ( the main character is Gromph Benrae’s daughter ) and the stand-alone Evermeet novel.

My favorite trilogy! Reading the hole thing for the second time. I'm on the spine of the world.....the sellswards is also amazing.
Love Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance and the Darksword Trilogy. Of course, Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time is absolutely epic!

Have you read any of Elaine Cunningham’s realms books ? I think she might be my favorite of all the writers who have worked in the realms.
