Alam is a professor of English Literature at Kinnaird College for Women University and National College of Arts, Lahore. His first collection of poems,
“A Queen of no ordinary realm” won
Spokane Poetry Prize in US. His second book
“Verses of a lowly Fakir” is a work of translation
of Madhu Lal Hussain’s various poem. His most recent book “The Others”
is another work of translation of two contemporary female Punjabi poets,
Nasreen Anjum Bhatti & Sara Shugufta.

Kuch Jaan Lo! is an organization concerned with the arts and culture of Pakistan. The basic motive of KJL! is to reintroduce our vibrant youth with their own art and culture. Till now we have organized events on different literary personalities like Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Saadat Hassan Manto, Mirza Ghalib, Noon Meem Rashid, Parveen Shakir, Ahmed Faraz and Ismat Chughtai. Apart from these events, we have initiated a series of events called Silsala-e-Parhant (Series of readings), and a reading club called Parhant Kada (Reading Club) in which we invite students and people from various professions to come and read literary pieces of any literary personality of the Indian Sub-continent. In the near future, we aim to bring our regional literature, i.e. Pashto Literature, Baloch Literature and Sindhi Literature, to our followers.
