When the crowd sang the National Anthem at the Boston Bruins game, it was the first sports event there after the events of the Boston Bombing and the crowd overtake the singer when he started singing it and he just let them go for it. It's super emotional and a great moment

College sports bring in a very high level of skill but more fun. I agree that the atmosphere is different. I have been to games at both Lambeau Field and Camp Randall and, as much as I love my Packers, I enjoy the game experience at Badger games more. Being in the middle of Jump Around (even in the old fogey seats rather than the student section) is quite the experience.

Fun fact for the badger clips: the jump around put such a stress on the stadium, that the entire student section (the part in front of the scoreboard) had to be completely reinforced to handle the thousands jumping up and down. The buttercup clip, after about 45s the music gets cut from the stadium and the last bit is solely the crowd singing.
Wisconsin is also home to the 5th quarter. An extra 15 minutes after every home game where the band play songs (pop and fight alike) as folks leave the stadium. Shenanigans ensue.

Fun fact: The University of Central Florida's stadium is called the "Bounce House" as the fans would shake the whole stadium while jumping, same for the University of Wisconsin during the "Jump Around", it's absolutely insane.

@@ItsMatthewReacts Yeah, when Wisconsin renovated their stadium, they eliminated "Jump Around" due to structural concerns. That didn't sit well with the fans, and they did some quick engineering to determine it was safe. I've been there, and to Florida State for the tomahawk chop and the planting of the flaming spear at midfield, among others. I highly recommend going to a game at any of the larger universities... the game is 51%, but there's a 49% experience that you just won't find anywhere else. If you went to any stadium, walked up to any group of people, and said "hi, I'm Matthew from Sweden, and I'm lost"... You'd have BBQ, unlimited alcohol, and someone's really cute cousin within five minutes.

@@ItsMatthewReacts There is a hospital less than a block from the stadium and occasionally surgeons have to pause for a couple of minutes because some wings of the hospital shake a little during the Jump Around

@@ItsMatthewReacts Wisconsin's "Jump Around" measures as a small earthquake on the Richter scale! Consistently rated the #1 college sports town by Sport's Illustrated, USA Today, etc. If you go to a game, go there. And then you can go right over from Madison to Green Bay try to get sold out tickets...there is a 30 year wait list for season tickets and home games are always sold out...to the famed Cathedral or Football, Lambeau Stadium, which holds the 3rd most capacity of all NFL stadiums even though it is in the smallest town of just over 100k.

For the record Matthew, college football games are in no way free. At some schools, students may get in free or reduce prices, but the majority of the stadium is filled with the general public who are fans of the school football program. These schools make tons of money each year off of college football, and the popularity of college football is rooted in the culture and not based on if it's free or not. The price of a ticket may depends on the school, the size of the school, and the size of the fan base, it is different in every state and every school. Stadium capacity is based on the size of the fan base and the size of the university. The smaller school in smaller states, usually don't have the huge stadiums but medium size stadiums instead, but there are some exceptions to this.

To give an idea of how much money there is in college football. Some schools are funded by the state they are in, thus making all their employees "public employees". The highest paid public employees aren't elected officials, or even the governor of the state. The highest paid public employees are college football coaches.

15:35 "114 Thousand, WTF?!" Yeah, that is the University of Michigan's Stadium called "The Big House" and it is currently the biggest American Football stadium in the U.S.
I say currently because every decade someone either renovates or just makes a bigger stadium from scratch, and then Michigan does another renovation to be them out again LOL The Big House is an amazing stadium. It's a massive bowl shaped stadium that is actually built into the ground. From the outside it doesn't seem that huge/tall, and then you go in and realize it goes down! Florida State University's mascot is the Seminole Indians. A tribe of native Americans who give the school "permission" to use their name and chants in their games. They love being included in the school. The University of Florida's mascot is the "Gator", short for alligator. And yes, they are somewhat rival teams. The other large university in Florida are the University of Miami Hurricanes.

What sometimes bothers me is how rare it is that Notre Dame shows up in videos like this. I get how much they're not liked in some circles though, and I agree: I'm surrounded by some arrogant fans of my Dad's school on Facebook. But the fight song is epic and the 1812 Overture segment is amazing. (Another good one, come to think of it, is the 'Navy Blue and Gold' tradition from the Naval Academy. Funny thing, that's their alma mater but it was our high school's fight song -- our arrangement was a lot peppier than the original.)

For my university it was small with lower costs: students got in for free and could purchase up to 2 tickets at reduced price of $25 for family/friends but normally went for $45+. At Ohio State University (where my dad and sister went) student tickets were $35 and regular price tickets generally went for $60+ a game. You do have to factor in how much you want to spend inside the stadium as well, as alcohol is not allowed to be brought in (although my grandfather disguised whiskey by putting it in a doctor's urinary cup); generally its about $8 to $10 for 475ml beer, $10 for nachos, etc
Also the total attendance of universities in America is a lot higher but most people are local fans or alumni. You have to realize the state of Ohio has more people than the whole country of Sweden (11.6mil vs 10.2mil)

Understand another thing. At all these stadiums and arenas in America alcohol is sold without restrictions. The amount you drink is up to you, and there are rarely altercations or issues. Believe it or not, there are some high school stadiums in America that seat close to 20,000. I think it's safe to say that football is big in my country. High school football is generally played on Friday's. So, the babies play on Friday's, the boys play on Saturday's, and the men on Sunday's.

This year there was a new one. University of Michigan sang Mr. Brightside after all their wins. And if you thought TN was loud? LSU's home stadium triggered an earthquake once and Seattle Seahawks did so twice.

    • @loganleroy8622
      @loganleroy8622 ปีที่แล้ว

There's a difference between triggered an earthquake and was picked up by seismographers. The loudest stadium in the country is GEHA Field at Arrowhead in Kansas City, Missouri.

The baltimore orioles(named after the state bird of maryland)is during the post season play off normally baseball games are nowhere near that energetic.BTW 47K for an nfl game is low and nothing for a college football game but is very big for MLB game.Baltimore only has two teams, the orioles(MLB) and the ravens(NFL) more trivia the ravens were named after the poem the raven by poe who was born in baltimore. If the city is big it will have all the major sport leagues and sometimes two,NYC chicago and LA have two MLB teams.MLB teams will usually have their city letter not the team letter on their caps-LA for dodger, NY for yankees ,B for red sox.

Man I really appreciate all of your comments, they are always so informative, really like to learn about these kind of things! Really cool of you! @@ItsMatthewReacts Its a loaded question you like what you grew up with , if you grew up in the chicagoland area, you like chicago teams, if you grew up in wisconsin you like wisconsin teams and so on.I mostly deal with baseball so I would recommend the NY yankees the most successful and one of the richest sport teams in the world. You may have seen people wearing that NY cap its become for some reason fashionable now, and one of the oldest the chicago cubs.

8:02 the person who created this video got the name wrong. The name of the song is War Chant. And it is authentically the chant that the Seminole tribe would use to get themselves ready for war.

Wisconsin regularly made the top 5 of rankings for top party schools. They finally started being excluded from the rankings because they were winning too much. They are very much an "Underdog" team in that they their teams are never ranked very highly but always do well.

Yeah, I'm an Illinois alum, so a border state rival to Wisconsin, and you're not going to have a bad time at a Wisconsin game. It's basically a few hundred thousand Germans that decided to brew beer, cook bratwurst, and put chicks in miniskirts when the northern lights are out. You could spend a Saturday in a worse place.
