    I don't know whether to like or dislike this video. The game looks awesome - the host, however, just seems like he has no idea what the game is about, why it's brilliant, or how to be a respectful, intelligent, or entertaining host.

  • @SgtSlapmaster
    @SgtSlapmaster 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, truly one of the worst interviewers I've ever seen. He's clearly been watching someone like Louis Theroux and tried his hand at the same kind of provocative journalism, not realising:
    1. It's not appropriate in a friendly setting like this
    2. He is really bad at it
    Great example was when he jabbed the interviewee about whether or not it'd run well on his computer, only to be left speechless by the obvious response: "Well, what's your computer like?". It's obvious the game will scale.

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really hope GTA V doesn't suck like GTA IV. I don't even care if it's as over-hyped as Skyrim as long as it:
    1. Isn't a shitty console port that gets 3FPS
    2. Is fun (No Roman, I DON'T want to go ****ing bowling!)
    3. Reintroduces RPG elements (like swimming lvl up, sprinting lvl up, etc), like San Andreas had
    4. Has a REAL arsenal (just put every U.S. and Russian grenade launcher, rocket launcher, auto-rifle, machine gun, sniper rifle, armored car, tank, heli gunship and naval PT boat in it).

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not talking about the stuff they claim to do, like anti-cheat.
    I'm talking about the possibility of an actual trojan taking snap shots and/or keystrokes that could ruin my business in the course of a minute.
    For the average person, it's not a problem. For me-- well, let's just say I'll need a second computer before I can accept their TOS and privacy statement. My business doesn't have an undo button for this kind of thing. It only has a firewall and that would disable the game in question.

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry to change the subject, but I agree about C&C looking good.
    I was just about to try it, but then I read the TOS and realized just how scary EA is... They're fuckin' invasive, lol.
    The privacy statement does nothing to protect the consumer. Shame because I really was going to play it. My line of business does not allow for security vulnerabilities, especially not potential trojans. Origin seems a lot like a Trojan.
    Ah well, I have so many games, I don't really need C&C... Generals 2?

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Idk about Playsation Plus, but I doubt they just hand out God of War and Gears of War for free on it. Essentially, it's $50 a month for a lobby. You go to a PC game, like, say, Planetside 2 and there's a lobby with a chat, some game-related news, some menus and some stats. You pay... Zero for it. Yet consoles charge for that. Maybe that doesn't bother most people, but it does bother me. Personally, stuff like that got me out of the console scene. Wasn't like this back in the early 2000s.

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ah, my bad. I'm so used to running into fanboys that I thought you might be one.
    I do think the shift toward PC-like consoles is leading to easier game development. I honestly don't like consoles, simply because they tend to sneak in fees that no one "should" have to pay. Imagine if Steam charged you for using it and if you didn't, it'd shut off your internet. Sounds horrific when I put it that way. PSN is basically that, imo. That's the kind of thing that made me drop consoles.

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    $119 for that CPU of that caliber is pretty cheap. Not much that needs to be cut from the build I offered. Also, certain options, like non-synchronized marching, benefits from something more powerful than an i5.
    Admittedly, he could use a Micro-ATX board, no arctic silver and a $200 video card, but, considering this is a system he would probably want to use for an extended period of time, I think too much corner-cutting would eventually reveal itself to be a bad thing.

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh yeah, lastly. Everything I listed is on Newegg's website. It's all in one spot, sort from lowest price first and then avoid anything with under 5 ratings or that has less than a 4-egg rating. Also, micro-ATX might save you $20, but I personally prefer standard ATX. Might help to get a friend who knows more about this if you're not sure. Personally, I love the variety of ways to make a bad ass system. Think of it as an RPG. You're crafting your sword. :D

  • @Strazman

    That interviewer needs to grow up, learn how to be professional, and understand that his role in this interview is to support the developer in his showing of the gameplay footage. This was not a time for the interviewer to wine about every little thing that he personally does or doesn't like about the game.
    Mr. Gaston, maybe you should stick to writing editorials or reviews and not try to bash a game directly to someone who has worked on it and has pride in the project.

    No..it...did..not. Spain, as we know it today, was born out of the reconquista, which concluded in the 15th century. In the 2nd/1st century BC the Iberian peninsula was a mish mash of different settlements with different allegiances. Greeks, Iberians, Carthaginians, Celts, Basques, eventually Romans all had portions of the territory. So I'm very sorry, but Spain did not exist back then, any more than France, Germany, or the United Kingdom.

    This game has so many flaws,
    Where do I check my family tree for example. That was one thing I loved with Rome total war, That I could watch my family grow from when they are a child to when they grow up, It also seems like they did not put as much effort in the world map as the last game, I liked the strategic World map thinking much more than all the battles.

  • @manictiger
    @manictiger 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nope, you can't. And you can't upgrade a console or make it run 30-40C. I'm not saying PCs are better, but I am saying you get what you pay for. Also, $399. They're probably taking a loss and they'll probably throttle your bandwidth and make you pay for shit that PC gives for free. I'm not here to argue with fanboys. I have stocks I have to analyze.

    In the battle at 4:58 the adviser says "Zues-Amun" (a Greek God), while playing as Egypt, hopefully they change that to an Egyptian God rather then a Greek God. Even though Egypt was conquered by Alexander the Great (a Greek), after the fall of his empire I do believe they reverted back to their ancient Gods.
    Hopefully they fix that prior to release, but with only 2 days left, I highly doubt it.

  • @holobalobalo
    @holobalobalo 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree. Empire was buggy but pushed the scale of the game much further. Napoleon refined the mechanics of Empire and presented them in a much less expansive setting. Shogun 2 was pretty bad, as there weren't many improvements made, but Fall of the Samurai really fixed most of the issues that the original Shogun 2 had and made it a great game again.
    Rome 2 implements a more realistic momentum/weight system and also fixes the longstanding navigation issues in cities, and more. Will be good.

    AMD graphics. ATI does not exist anymore. Please read.
    That has never been true for consoles, I'm afraid. It is designed as a console. To run on televisions well and cheaply. In reality consoles have too low and slow memory, lack resolution support, have massive framerate issues (TV hz is fine for a movie, but motion blur is awful in videogames) they lack driver support for devices, moding, what about them is ideal for gaming? They cost more than a better PC and cant do as much??

  • @snake172
    @snake172 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was just an example you muppet, Nvidia graphics cards can outperform ATI cards on desktop pc's even though on paper ATI beats nvidia on horsepower alone.
    Same can be said for the PS4 and the fact that midlevel pc's can beat it on horsepower and number crunching but games will still perform better on ps4 because it's hardware was designed for gaming, not doing everything a computer can do.

    this game looks amazing but im still wondering WHEN IS EMPIRE 2 that was my fav total war game and all they did was make napolean. they need to put all these features in empire 2. another suggestion is what if there was a button to make it so u could control 1 guy in fps view on the middle of all the caos. and plus while u control that one guy u can command ur troops around that would be awsome.

    I think the CA employee deserves a big round of aplouse. He manages to somehow stay serious and provide good information to whatever the dopehead who is trying to interview him says. Comments like "that seems a little bit videogamy" seem impossible to deal with, but he somehow manages to make a valid story "answering" him. I am not sure why they let such a dopehead do the interview. I got really annoyed by him when the dopehead started crying about the elephants at the end.

    1: hahahahahahah 69 likes 2: He was right about the gamey bit. I was a little disturbed by it. I understand holding points such as towers which would shoot arrows and stuff... and I would understand if the attacker could capture an enemy camp, which would result in it being pillaged and: 1: decreasing the amount of enemy soldiers that would flee 2: in case the attacker lost, the defender would have no place to treat his men so he would lose a lot more, considering that they'd be unconscious.

    No there is something wrong with your eyes. I am not the only one, yes it may seem like we all have bad PC's but I have above average eye sight called 20/16. Sounds confusing I know and I'm not trying to boast but my abnormal eye sight means I can see things a lot clearer than most people. I can always notice even the tiniest bit of lag. In this case I suspect it is the game that lags not their PC's. This same apparition is in Far Cry 3, it lags and is a lot jumpier comapared to the likes of COD

  • @Adrenalin844
    @Adrenalin844 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to play other total war games on my old phenom. You can try to prove something here, but the fact remains, that in all graphics-based games the GPU is the most important part. I have Shogun 2 minimized right now to test your rabble, Oda vs. Date, 2500 units in total, CPU load at 30-50%, GPU at 70-80%. Oh, I have AC3 running in the background... I should turn that off to get the real results for the game.

  • @thunderstorm997
    @thunderstorm997 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes. But if you have 2GB RAM, you can say bye bye to playing the game at all. You don't seem to be comprehending what I'm saying, that yes, the main money will go into GPU because the GPU technology is currently behind the others. Anything below a 2nd gen i5 is going to give you trouble when playing large armies on Shogun 2. If each unit had a large amount of troops in them (i.e most mods), then you'd need something even better.

  • @thunderstorm997
    @thunderstorm997 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please read mine again. Total War is a game that is much heavier on the CPU compared to most other games. This has to do with the insane amount of calculations involved in a battle. If, say, 2000 soldiers are fighting 2000 soldiers, then realize that armour, shield side, ground height, morale, weapon damage, weapon type and weapon range, movement, tiredness etc, are all calculated for every soldier (not unit, soldier), some values almost constantly and others only in combat..

  • @thunderstorm997
    @thunderstorm997 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, Total War and Crysis are very different games. My friend couldn't run Empire on anything higher than Medium because his processor couldn't handle all the units and such at once. He had a better graphics card than I did at the time, but I could play it on High. The three factors that are the big ones in gaming are RAM, GPU and CPU. Whine all you want, but all three are important.

  • @chazzalinko
    @chazzalinko 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you were really Mr Smarty Pants you would get it, lol. Nah, its just because he was being quite rude to a person who made all the effort to come to this American event from England, and constantly complaining about the game and the battle (and especially the elephants, for example) to his face and really just being allround obnoxious. Never once did he make compliment of any sort.

  • @SuperAqua9
    @SuperAqua9 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    In this video the game looks like it is getting dangerously "cartoony", especially with those capture points and that level up animation that the one unit had. I don't want this to happen to total war like it did with Supreme Commander. Great game, but in sequels it lost all the complexity and cool gameplay and the graphics became very cartoony looking and the gameplay suffered dramatically. I really don't want this to happen to Rome 2 but this video makes it seem so.

  • @MiningForge
    @MiningForge 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree he should be neutral in the fact that he should be trying to promote the game, but also getting answers from the developers about the game's features but he was too one-sided with his view. To me it almost seemed as if he was against the game, like he was critiquing it while watching it, like he was looking for flaws. Never seen an interviewer do that before, especially not at E3.

  • @MrThreeGaming
    @MrThreeGaming 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you cant take criticism from one guy when the rest are dazzled by some new graphical feature you shouldn't really be releasing your work into the public... "The developers does his work for Money" end of story. Mabe he likes his Job and even the game but still he should be able to take criticism.
    The game looks good but is it playable... that's all he is asking. Previous problems have ben AI not being to smart during battles, Campaign map being to small and provinces have ben way to Big.

  • @snake172
    @snake172 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There you go then, because of how fragmented the PC market is (hundreds of different configurations) mean it would be nigh on impossible to make a game using the full potential of the hardware inside a PC.
    That's why next gen titles will look heaps better on lower powered hardware. I can guarantee you that stuff like Quantic Dream's "The dark sorcerer" will benchmark ingame graphics for a good few years.

  • @45calibermedic
    @45calibermedic 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your processor and graphics card have me concerned. The minimum specs (official minimum and recommended specs have been released) list the graphics card as 512 mb and the processor as 2 ghz for a dual core. Your ram is fine.Your final settings will be a mixture of compromises in graphics and unit size, but I think that you can run it. I recommend saving up for an upgrade. I'm running an I7 quad core processor, 8 gb ram, and a 1 gb graphics card, win 7 64 bit.

    Depends do you like grand strategy games? Do you enjoy the turn based system (try civilisation 4 if you do ;) ) or the real time battles. There are plenty of PC only games which might look interesting (Star Citizen). I personally can only recommend buying a PC for various reasons : you have better graphics, many great games, and most of all moddable games (I could never EVER play an unmodded Skyrim or Oblivion)

  • @Merwanor
    @Merwanor 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I guess this game will have magic archers like in Shogun 2.... I see no quivers on their backs, so I guess they use some kind of magic arrows....
    But seriously, why can't developers get details like quivers and sheaths down, when modders can. Take the Third age mod for Medieval 2 for an example, the units have freaking sheaths for their swords. I know it may be absurd to some, but details like this just makes games less immersive to me. And we probably have to pay for blood again....

    Yes, but the banner's here are fixed to the ground. which more or less forces you to hold that ground, historically they usually carried them around. This reduces tactical flexebility, I mean what if I dont' want to hold that ground? What if I have a position or plan that goes against it? It's one thing to hold ground with heavy roman infantry, it's another to do it with say, horse archers.

    I'm excited for a new version of RTW just like the rest of you guys. But I am a little disappointed in the features that were being shown. "Weight" in a chariot charge? I'm pretty sure that has been in all of the games and is nothing new, unless I misheard some new improvements made on it. I am excited for the combined arms factor (something I always wanted). The capture point is a little iffy... I don't like being forced to defend open ground instead of a perfectly good hill a little ways over.

    Well he was giving his own opinion about the game, that doesn't really make him a troll. Now if he said it's gay, lame, ugly, or stupid yeah he would be an ass hat. But it's just a point of view, as for he is in the wrong place, maybe he did what I did, and heard it on a different video and wonder what the game was about. I think the game looks great, and seems fun, but it's not my type of game I like to control one entity at a time, in any game.

    Looks like another shogun 2 arcade style game :/ annnnnnd multiplayer is probably going to be another pay 2 win piece of shit.
    meh,
    I'll keep playing Rome I and Medieval 2 rather than buy this DLC bloated piece of shit.8 factions? Pathetic Yeah, and I'm sure you can buy the other half of the game for another 60 bucks once they shat out the remaining factions they gouged from this game.

I come from america but if you want to be specific i come from the united states of america. Back then they still called it greece whether it was spartans, athens etc.

    To be honest, I don't have a wealth of experience with the Total war series-most of what I know comes from people who have both TW and other strategy games. I'm not saying the campaign portion is empty, just that I heard its not as "fleshed out" as other games. My point in writing that comment was mostly to tell the guy to stop being so arrogant.

    WHY are people so excited about "next gen consoles"... I really don't get it.. when they come out they will STILL be 2-3 years behind current PC's as far as graphics go. There is also so much more you can do on a computer than you cant on a console.. AND you can build a gaming computer they would beat out the new consoles for the same price your going to pay for one.

    I had to caps him too. Everyone knows shogun 2 cannot come close to using your full processor because it only runs on a single core (the i7 is significantly worse than the i5 in shogun because of this)
    This makes the CPU the biggest bottleneck in total war games. Because they do not have multi core support yet.

  • @Postwarsolution
    @Postwarsolution 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yup. he evens said "will there be multiplayer" saying that sentence alone just shows the ignorance. the multiplayer is whats keeping most of the total war games alive cause it will never be as fun and exciting to paly against a computer as it is to play against a human and develop new tactics on the fly against eachother.

    wow this guy is a piece of work. The creative assembly rep. explains how naval and land forces can fight in the same theatre, and all the interviewer can say is "I want to see more war elephants". If he wants to see elephants so bad then why doesn't he fly to Africa and get himself squashed into jelly by one!!!

    I love how the interviewee has no clue about this game as to the details of if this game is CPU or GPU intensive. The beginning where he asks what computer its running on, he should have stated specific GPU and CPU as those are the main components for running video games. Such a weak interview it's sad.

    I really hope that your able to march on rome, the senate in the first one did get anoying towards the end, but i always loved the idea of being able to march into rome itself, also i hope settlement view is still there. it's a shame britian doesn't look like it's got alot of provinces, especially since they had problems with the scots

    I believe the capture points are kind of good. I hate it in other Total War Games where your pretty much forced just to charge them sometimes because they just keep moving away this way they'll attack or defend certain points. Although I do believe that they should make it optional so have Domination or Point Capture

  • @reav3rtm

    You're right. He pointed out some important things however. While ranting for A.I. is silly as TW games always had rather good A.I. (A.I. is never a match for human player in strategy games like this so having high expectations is unrealistuc). Checkpoints on the other hand especially - I don't like introducing this concept either.

    This man representing CA is very professional and gives us the consumers, information and really highlighting aspects of the game that strategy gamers or Total War Fanatics like myself love to see in a new Total War game. I wish every representative for games would maintain his level of professionality and truly showcase their games to consumers who are following it.

    It was a fair question. It did feel a bitt gamey. And the answer about "it is just a videogame" was stupid. Sure it is a video game but when you are playing a videogame you are trying to escape reality for a short moment.
    It was good he didn't just promote the game but actually answered some serious questions.

  • @krymaleus
    @krymaleus 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought it was a fair question. Capture points in TW is redundant and dumb, since in TW you have to know what terrain to hold onto anyways, otherwise you'll never win the battle. They are on a hill, if they hold the hill they have victory. But I'm assuming capture points will only be in cities and historical battles which is okay because that makes sense.

    The interviewer's role is to help the developer sell the product to the viewers. Yes, he has to ask questions but saying "Is that a bit too video-gamy?", was just stupid. E3 is the one chance a company has to show off their project they've worked hard on for the past few years, it shouldn't be marred by stupid questions that try to undermine the developers.

    PC isn't that much more expensive,if you want same performance as next gen consoles its like 600 $ .Not to mention it will always have way better graphics,and that you will actually save money in the long run on games cause Steam is kickass!+there is billion of stuff you can do on PC which you can't on consoles.

  • @davedass5340
    @davedass5340 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    But already for a top end gaming pc that can run that game at max settings you are looking at atleast $700. Its not cheap which is why most people just buy consoles which are already configured and cheap. PC is better in EVERY single way IF you have the money for it, which most people dont have or atleast wont waste money on gaming.

    PC continues to thrive and all I hear is doom and gloom for consoles. Games like Total War make me proud that I have migrated from consoles. Sure I lost the good exclusives but the PC has so many and there are emulators and just so much. That's just my experience, others are heavy console or heavy PC or a mix of both.

    I started with the first Rome total war at a mates house, when i first played the total war series it was hard and i must admit there is a learning curb, but once i got the hang of it i was hooked. so in my opinion, defiantly worth buying a new pc for. i recommend to try out one of the previous total war games first, Shogun total war, very cheep nowdays.

    as soon as i watched this i got so pissed off with the interviewer completely bypassing the technical brilliance of this game and just wanting to see the elephants bash into people. awful and unenthusiastic interviewer. "will it compete with cod and battlefield" it doesn't need to, its a completely different type of game all together.

    i disagree with what the guy said about the banners in a historical game. until recently (late 19th/early 20th) century banners/standards/flags were really important to armies and capturing one was one of the greatest things a unit could achieve and losing a banner could destroy a units reputation and morale

  • @Kytota

    I still don't get it. After E3, people were only talking about Titanfall or the Witcher 3 when Rome: Total War II was equally if not more impressive. Granted, it was the only big-name strategy game and probably the ONLY good strategy game at E3. So, come on, where's the love? Or it could be probably because only we PC gamers are able to play it........yeah, we're lucky!!!

    dude, 2 volleys at the start off a battle and your guys are wavering, you lost like 20 out of 200 and people start to break, what the hell? i accept a flanking, a constant bombardement of loosing half your men would insta rout, but 20 deads in an army of 200 is ridicoulous.
