So how is you llumar now? The installer says i can just wash with water hose... and it gets this new looking? Skeptical... salt and winter? I’m a 1 car wash a year guy...
You wouldn't notice any difference with FLAC, especially in an environment like a car. Sound-engineers can hear a slight difference between 256kbit mp3 and CD in a controlled environment with hi-end equipment, ordinary people in a car would not hear any difference. As a listening-medium, FLACs are a complete waste of time and effort. They might work for archiving.
Seán O'Nilbud The only subjective thing here is the claim that FLACs make any sort of difference. No. People can't tell a difference in blind tests. That is a fact. Trained experts can hear slight difference between hi-bitrate mp3 and CD using hi-end equipment in controlled environment. But car? No way in hell. Cars don't have expensive hi-end speakers, and the listening-environment is not designed with music-listening as it's number 1 priority. Unlike in those tests. Hell, with cars you have all kinds of other noise to deal with, like wind and tire-noise. Cars are far from perfect place for listening to music. FLACs are utter waste of time for cases like this. Yeah yeah yeah, audiophiles will claim that they can hear clear differences with all kinds of bullshit, like when they elevate their speaker-cables, or replace the standard powercable with one that costs thousands of dollars. But those people are deluded and insane, with more money than common sense.
FLAC is ideal for archiving, so you can get a better bitrate on your portable devices every time a better format or codec makes it easy without lossy encoding more than once.
The film will prevent the water spots from getting on the paint, but it's still there on the film. Some films are better than others. Llumar still recommends waxing over it for water spots. They call this stain resistance. Extremely hard water will stain any film or coating.
Hi Bjorn. How is the LLumar Paint Protection clear film holding up on Optimus Prime since you had it done? Any peeling or bubbles that you've noticed on the install?? Would you recommend doing this for a new vehicle? Much appreciated.
I'm going to wrap my Model S too, its necessary in Sweden since people are fucking idiots in parkinglots. Don't know what to protect though but I'm thinking of the front and side doors? Does it protect against people shoving up doors in your sides?
the film is good to protect the paint against little stones, salt, insects - probably not so effective against doors, because the film is very thin and a door is very heavy.....
A lot of little air bubbles under the wrapping film. Or is that "Schmutz" on the top of the film? Or if thats air, will it diffuse (is that the right term?!)/disappear later? Is it allowed to wrap your (front) lights in Norway? In Germany (and maybe whole EU?) its definitly not. And like everytime: thanks for the lot of videos!
Windshield wrap might actually help against cracking, since the plastic might dampen the sharp concentrated impact of a little rock and that windshield is huge.
maybe it is forbidden (in germany it is....), because it changes the sight from inside - the film is not 100% plain - i wondered that björn got his lightglasses done....

You really serious?! They are not altering anything that has to do with aerodynamics. Your question is like asking: will washing my car have any effect on aerodynamics.
English is the main trading & commerce language used around the world, all air traffic controllers and shipping etc. must be able to speak it clearly so because the UK had a big empire once most countries now teach it as a second language!
to wrap the car it was the first thing i did to my s85 in 2013 - my tesla was wraped at the front and at the backside - 3 years later it is all fine, some minor scratches in the film but the paint is untouched my wrapping specialist told me not to wrap a brand new car, he suggested that the car should be some weeks old, to harden the paint that was fresh from the factory at the "old" design with the nose-cone, tesla told him, not to cover the cone because there where sensors behind in a short time i´ll try to change to the autonomous 90d and the first thing (after some weeks) i will do - is bring him in for wrapping..... ;-)
He said you can use a wax old video. And his new video wax not needed after you apply ceramic coating.. check them out 3 years later... it's been a year. How is the paint protection now?
I believe you just gave Grand Auto Design the best commercial ever :D
It's good to see that you decided to wrap the car to protect the paint, the Norwegian weather it hard on the paint job.
So how is you llumar now? The installer says i can just wash with water hose... and it gets this new looking? Skeptical... salt and winter? I’m a 1 car wash a year guy...
Can you test the Model X audio system vs the Model S? With FLAC files too.

What was the price? @teslabjorn
will it also repel water so you don't get water spots when you wash it or it rains?
The film will prevent the water spots from getting on the paint, but it's still there on the film. Some films are better than others. Llumar still recommends waxing over it for water spots. They call this stain resistance. Extremely hard water will stain any film or coating.

some bubbles
Ja, no e det gått 5 år. På tide å rive den av å sjekke lakken eller kjøre på i 5 år til?
What about the Tesla warranty is it voided in any way by using these films on the bodywork? Also can we get this outside Norway in the rest of the EU?
I'm going to wrap my Model S too, its necessary in Sweden since people are fucking idiots in parkinglots. Don't know what to protect though but I'm thinking of the front and side doors? Does it protect against people shoving up doors in your sides?
Sort of, you will still get a dent, but the paint, or marring scratches wipe off with a hot towel.

He means Smuts not Schmutz :)
No, I mean Schmutz.
So you love the German word? :D
Does this wrap affect the headlights (does light spread so that it blinds traffic)?
Should be below one degree change, else the main lights can be adjusted, so no big deal if so. :)
Is this treatment available in italy?
Contact the local distributor adn they will recommend you a shop nearest to you: europeafricarussia.llumar.com/where-to-buy-531
Bjorn are you getting clearplex for the front windshield?
I don't have any plans of wrapping the windshield yet. But maybe I should.
Yeah but you got the tinted roof, so this should be fine in Germany. Could help to prevent hail damage and some stone stuff :)
Ah well, the lights are fine, since the lights can be adjusted. If the lights are shifted a half degree up/down/right/left no issue. :)
is there a Dealer in Germany who wrappes the car with Llumar?

How much was it? How much for protecting the whole car?
Doesn't make that much sense for him, Björn drives all the time :D
But I would do the whole car as well, I guess it's something around 5 times more.
Does this have any effect on aerodynamics?
You really serious?! They are not altering anything that has to do with aerodynamics. Your question is like asking: will washing my car have any effect on aerodynamics.
Can everyone in Norway speak English? I'm impressed.
yep Mantas is lithuanian name :D
Why not? In Germany as well. :)

The paint curing time is usually completed during vehicle transport to the service center. Unless you live near Tesla in California of course.
my specialist was afraid of outgasing solvent that could be critical for the film

PHEW! I thought it was 24000 usd!
If anyone watches west coast customs they know what LLumer is
lietuva!
Some Schmutz?! :D Ist that NORWEGIAN
Nope, German. I think he just love the word
de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schmutz
I just discovered that the Norwegian word is very similar to the german, so it sounds the same without the accent. :)
Schmutz :D
The german word for dirt :D
