    By far the best, most in depth demo of the Katana acoustic preamp setting I have seen/ heard. Thanks! I think I'd almost be stupid NOT to buy one of these amps! :)

      Thanks for saying that, I tried to give an honest look at what it can do. Can confirm I have played out with this amp most weekends for the past several months both acoustic and electric b and it has been consistently great.

    Katana is of course a compromise. That said, it’s a darn good one. I have a MkII 50 combo, obtained used but in new condition for 25% less than the new price at the music superstores. My Lorca classical guitar sounds like the guitar but louder, and the Turser single cutaway dreadnought sounds just like it does thru a PA.

      Awesome! Absolutely can't beat the katana for amp modeling anywhere near that price, what a great amp

    I have the 100 Mk2 and all my acoustic guitars (classical, folk and resonator) sound fine at practice volume. Better for electric and with a budget analog OD in the front, it is difficult to tell it's not a tube amp. At giging volume, it might be different. At this price, with all te features... Don't be snobs.

      Yes sir, I agree with that sentiment. It’s an amazing tool for a gigging musician to be able to do just about any job 🤙

    Just considering this amp head for the portability and jack of all trades aspects primarily for jam space. We play a wide variety of music, and I've struggle forever with using an electric acoustic playing through a guitar amp. I need the guitar amp for my electric....Anyway the acoustic is competing against another electric guitar, bass and loud drummer and its impossible using a guitar amp to get the acoustic loud enough without the wild feedback issues (i use a sound hole cover too). I can't really run it through the PA
    So will this Katana help in that setting for the acoustic guitar? Can you get the volume loud enough? I noticed that there is no feedback control on the Katana if that would help enough. Also the head would be run through a greenbacks cab. Any thoughts on that?
    Or is there some other solution out there (not PA) for both electric guitar and acoustic to get the acoustic loud enough for band level and not have to carry 2 amps around? Any good pedal preamps into a ss amp perhaps?
    Thanks - a bunch of questions there - appreciate opinions....Great video too! Peace

      This is def an option. Also you could consider a Line 6 pod go or HX stomp, and use a FRFR speaker as a cabinet rather than a normal guitar cab. Also on the acoustic plugged in on a loud stage you can grab one of those sound hole plug things , they’re pretty great at helping with feedback and you can pop it in and out as needdd

    Hey Matt, how have you dealt with feedback loops as you crank up the volume? I love the amp and your video but I just can't seem to get rid of them. I am using a sound hole cover too. Thanks for this great product review

      Thank you! I have used this amp as an acoustic preamp running the line out direct into the mixer at many gigs and haven't had feedback issues beyond what I would expect-- feedback is very unique to the setup and room that you are working with. Are you using the katana head like mine, or one of the combo versions of the amp?

    How does the internal speaker do for acoustic playing?

    • @matteliasmusic
      @matteliasmusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its very nice for practice/ bedroom volume, the head is a great piece of utility gear with the internal speaker being one of the coolest features. You could easily gig with this head as your acoustic preamp/effects rig (I've done it, but direct out to the PA is the way to go and in that setting the internal speaker isn't quite loud enough for me to use for monitoring purposes

    Can you plug in thr acoustic and use one of the electric channels, like crunch?

    • @matteliasmusic
      @matteliasmusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure you could! Just would have to do some dialing for the tone and watch out for feedback.

      Ah, I would have been happy to, but unfortunately I'm quarantined at home while my Katana stays at my practice space, so I don't have access to any Katana settings beyond what is visible in this video. I'm happy to answer any questions I'm able to if you're stuck on something specific though 🙂

    Absolutely it is bad for acoustic...I bought one for use with my three acoustic guitars, and...well........i can't wait to return this amp back to guitar center for a refund.

      Bummer! For a similar price, if you’re only looking for an amp for your acoustics, I’d recommend a small box from Fishman. They’ve got several FRFR acoustic amps that you can pack and do solo shows without even needing a mixer!
