The reporter is bigoted & stupid. Listening to her ask inept questions was like getting kicked in the nutz. But, AT LEAST she revealed that Bob actually gives away his money to the poor!

wish I could do it again, because there were a lot of questions I asked that I probably shouldn’t have at the time,” she said of the Marley interview.
“I was told by the news director at the time ‘be tough on him’ because he was advocating a certain type of lifestyle that people should be aware of,” Rinaldo recalled. “I think now, with the wisdom of age, I would have taken a whole different approach because he was an icon.
“These are lessons you learn as you do your job.” - Sandy Rinaldo

      @user-vw6bk4pb4l ปีที่แล้ว +4

They never expected him to become such an icon and legend, long after his death. Only then, would he 'deserve' a dignified interview.
In fact, the additional context simply confirms what we've always known. The media had already decided what to think of certain individuals and how to present them to the viewers. Another 'dangerous' black man with growing influence that needed to be cancelled. We've seen it countless times.

      I am listening as I speak/type.
Bob Marley was more than a legend ..he was, to me, the closest person to what peace, justic and humbleness would look like if molded into a figure in the shape of man. That's how highly I think of this, great, powerfully moving, peaceful musical artful millionaire of a man from Trenchtown made from nearly nothing, who, with perseverance peace and beautiful music became a household name wherever you were or are in this world. I don't see this changing either, his reverence grows more and more as time goes by.
      What an inspiration, honestly.
This reporter was at the time being as reporters are: very one sided and had targeted aimed questions to make him feel out of place and or control but this man put her in her spot and did so with grace and the coolest of attitudes, I swear.
Can you imagine had he lived longer?!

I just read that Sandie Rinaldo, the interviewer felt cringe everytime she sees this interview and she felt that she made a mistake, and she would have another chance to interview Bob Marley, she would do it. I felt angry everytime I watch this interview, but I just realized that she made it wrong.

  • @Fleshpuppet67

Sandi Rinaldo has gone on to have a 35+ year career as the anchor of Canada’s national news. I am sure that this interview is one of her most embarrassing moments. We all make mistakes and have regrets, but her future acts showed her to be a compassionate and caring person . People like Bob Marley show the people good and forgiveness so we can change our ways holding onto the hate will never bring us closer to god or the music.

Glad Bob handled it well and didn’t back down.

[08 September 2022] Bob Marley in Toronto...a Natural Mystic in a most un-mystic land...the most truly spiritual Sweet Soul Singer set down in Kanada (as Gwendolyn MacEwan always called it)...what a strange thought. The condescending interviewer above must represent everything Kanadian; everything white-bread and repressive and unimaginative about Canada, and about the (Anglo) Canadian media. I'm glad the Wailers played to a receptive audience in Toronto, but I'm not surprised that the mainstream journalists of the time didn't understand them.

Well I think that was because , many other interviewed Bob Marley same way.
      Or similar style.
And I believe there was no way he was going to allow them to bring him down.
He knew , and had it all under control , if anything he could more handle people who spoke to him like that.
And not worry about a thing.
Also he was known for many quotes used to this day.
One that says something along the lines of - you can't please all the people all of the time.
You can only please some people , some of the time. (
Correct me if I am wrong.)
So if that being the case , I would have to agree.
That you can never please everyone.
And besides , who cares, not Bob , I don't think so.
      Just my view.

    • @teresacalladine7479
      @teresacalladine7479 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thr33z11
      Okay thanks for your answer.
However I don't see how my question is irrelevant at all
That is why I ask it
Because I recall Bob Marley saying the Bible says this or that.
He referred to the Bible to say that the bible says
Is in the Bible to smoke weed.
      But now you answered me.
Saying , that we been given every living plant.
      Which yes I know this
I just wanted to find out if any one could point out and part of the Bible.
That by Been given every seed and plant.
Means or meant that we can smoke it ?
      That's all I was asking.
Because to my knowledge, it does not mean that.
But anyway that's just my view or knowledge.
I never mind to be corrected.
      So I believe , it's completely relevant.
And something I wanted to ask , so I did.
End of the day we all got different throughs or reasons and views.
      It's not a problem.
Still believe Bob Marley had his rights and reasons.
      And his life
      It's all good.
      God bless him.

Bob handled this well! And, to Rinaldo’s credit, I think she expressed contrition later, admitting that she didn’t fully appreciate who Bob was or understand exactly what he was about. (For what little it’s worth, I kinda get the impression that she’s not trying to be malicious here, even if she does come off as a bit rude; it’s more like she’s simply speaking a different language than Bob is.) I heard she’s said that she wished she could do this interview over again. I think that’s probably sincere on her part, and I think Bob would be more than willing to forgive her. It just seems like such a missed opportunity.
