Got my old beat up one in1995 for $50.00, and have never thought for a second about selling it. Out of all my synths, if I could only keep one this would be it, ultra versatile you can make just about any sound with it
The Mono/Poly was my first real synth love, got to mess around with one at school in '85-'86. Glad to see you getting great sounds out of such a classic piece of gear.
I have owned both of these early analog synths - The Mono/Poly hands down wins it. More control and deeper sounding. To me, the Polysix never got the creative thing going for me, while the Mono/Poly simply opened things up considerably - and I'm a diehard Oberheim guy! If you ever have the opportunity to buy a Mono/Poly at a modest price - Buy it! You will be rewarded handsomely.
Excellent - I wholeheartedly approve of this video! It's both great music that's good to listen to, and a fine demonstration of what this synthesiser can do.
Such a wonderful powerful synth. No wonder it's so sort after, and so expensive to buy now, if you can find one. a true classic, dream analogue machine.Thank you so much for posting. I love your vids. well done. Best wishes. Pete. LOL .
Man denke nur an meine Tracks von 1986 in "Recordings 1986 And After 2006"... ★★★★★
@Jamesrosscooper The Poly-800 did have one thing going for it- it's rich, haunting string sound, which few other synthesizers could emulate. I believe it is for that reason it was used in the theme music to the TV series "Rescue: 911".
i have a mono poly myself and was wondering how often do you have to clean the contacts? i have had an ms 20 and ms 10 and those things will last longer than i will. but the monopoly and polysix contacts have to be cleaned quite frequently. especially the mono. other than that i really think its one of the best mono synths ever made.
Hi, I'd love to hear the opinion of the master, to help my purchase for my 1st mono analog: Mono/Poly / Prodigy / Pro One / Sh2. Which would YOU go with if you were looking for both deep 'creamy' basses and punchy, 80s disco type bass?
I'm 99% sure I've already asked you in the past, but what are your favourite synths? I'm trying to look for a warm synth that isn't ridiculously expensive and can create sound like Balam Acab, Holy Other, Sun Glitters, Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavilion", Avey Tare, oOoOO, Boards Of Canada, Discovery, Panda Bear, Aphex Twin, Grimes, Salem etc. Thanks
Hey Retrosound , I heard that the Monopoly sounds thin in Poly mode I read this a few times however in your demo it sounds lush and full , what is your opinion on this
considering the prices of both I would say Polysix is better. It's cheaper (doesn't mean it's cheap!), and, well, true polyphonic (6 voices). I think most of 80s (and 70s) synths are good for Synthwave. I have Korg Poly61, Poly800, MS-20 mini, and Yamaha DX7 (not analogue, but legendary!), and waiting for Korg Lambda for more Vangelis like stuff. All of them are very usefull, but if you want to sound like Lazerhawk, Miami Nights 84 etc. (lots of Synthwave artists are using DAWs, VSTs) You need some good effects anyway. Delays, Reverbs, Choruses...
I have a polysix, and I think the Mono/Poly is more flexible, despite losing 2 voices.... If I had the opportunity, I'd strongly consider trading my Polysix for the Mono/Poly
Rose Child Ahh i see . Yeh i thought it was a Jd 800 . I think i read somewhere it may have had something to do with the Korg Wavestation. Maybe thats all wrong but still would be good for my sound spotter head to know :-)
Adamski A. I was just saying that it just has a feel like how the PlayStation start up does like that punch in the face of SYNTH WAVE sorry I don’t know much about synths just had an observation that it sounded alike

Love that big bold KORG logo that spoke volumes about it's sound. The late 70's/early 80's synths were magical.
+Free Breeze indeed
Such a good sounds. I love this synth a lot.
Unbeliveably organic sounds... so organic that no two Monopolys sound alike.. 💓💓💓💓
:)
Those last polyphonic chords made my day!
+Ramon Rojas :)
I love Korg... Awesome playing, and great demo, thank you!
thank you :)
this is the best synthesizer at all times!

6 years late. Still better late than never . Incredible synth, superbly played . I must revisted some of your older vids :-)
Korg, please do a remake of the MonoPoly!
But full size! Sick of that mini bs.
korg was so forward thinking when designing this synth
Please do.
Sounds great compared to the new crop of analogs. Great bottom end.
Korg is amazing...
Fantastic demo. Nice musical chips and a fabulous machine.
Such a wonderful powerful synth. No wonder it's so sort after, and so expensive to buy now, if you can find one. a true classic, dream analogue machine.Thank you so much for posting. I love your vids. well done. Best wishes. Pete. LOL .
I was a very young kid back then, but I used to dream of Korgs, Moogs and Rolands or whatever every night! : )
My first synth...and to this day, regret selling it (sold it before leaving for college)
:)

I love the Monopoly. This is a synth with balls.
Really fat and good vintage sounds! Bravo Bravo!

Oh wow
:)
True bass!
@Jamesrosscooper
Yeah, it may had been one of their more affordable synthesizers, but it still wasn't cheap.
do you remember the chords you played in poly mode? love them so much
BELLISSIMO!!!!
Are you going to buy the 'Uli' version then .... when it finally gets released to market Marko?? Be safe & more demo 'isolation' UL's danke! 😷🎹👍🎆🤢🌍🍻
This channel is and remains free from Behringer. No interest in plagiarism. I would never buy something like that.
Thank you and stay safe.
@@retrosound72 Ha! Good on you Marko ... 😎👍🎹🍻
3:20 to 3:30 is amazing
2:45 sound like huey.
Nice !
I come from the future. During the end of the plague will the MonoPoly rise again!
haha. never.
I believe this synth was used by Life After Mutation and Black Narcissus..
Aswell as on the Fotodementia project :)
very good ...
ah, nice, I want it!
How much is a monopoly worth now got one in my mums attic
@winterstellar By the way, I listen to your channel/your playing very much, still love the same sounds as when I was younger:)

@PanicPictures True!

if i was going for the synthwave sound would you recommend this or the polysix. what has a more pleasing sound
I like the P-6 more.
considering the prices of both I would say Polysix is better. It's cheaper (doesn't mean it's cheap!), and, well, true polyphonic (6 voices). nice video
oh man i'm jealous. you rock
I wonder if the software can sound like this? ; )
My mate had one of these - I could only afford the Poly800 - I was soooo jealous!
I have a Roland JK-3P with programmer. Do you demo it?
aewsome
Wo kriegst du die ganzen Dinger her?? :D
which is better monopoly or polysix?
great sound. fett fett fett.
can you hook it up to midi?
is there a sequencer on this synth?
Arpeggiator
OMG! Nice bass. And I promise I don't say that to any synthesiser ;)
Reminds me of “The Warriors”
I want one
+I Love 80 ́s :)
mono poly or Pro one ? opinions ?
For me Pro-One
noice.
I have a polysix, and I think the Mono/Poly is more flexible, despite losing 2 voices.... If I had the opportunity, I'd strongly consider trading my Polysix for the Mono/Poly
FUCK YES!
This or the moog prodigy?
NorfolkBoys, ones mono and one is poly. But I would probably prefer the mono/poly over the prodigy
I've got Sleestaks up the wazoo.
At first it sounds like Sony start up sound
Rose Child You mean the psx start up ?
Adamski Ajull yeah
Rose Child Ahh i see . Yeh i thought it was a Jd 800 . I think i read somewhere it may have had something to do with the Korg Wavestation. Maybe thats all wrong but still would be good for my sound spotter head to know :-)

at 1.17 my whole world just changed!!
sounds like very early human league stuuff....no wonder they loved playing about and experimenting..
0:01 to skip add
Beginning of this sounds like boom boom by black eyed peas
Had one sold it for nothing.Fuck me
Mal wieder astrein. Tolel Sounds! Bisschen "fade to grey" dabei ...
This is California Gary the Raccoon's synthesizer.
I've got one they're a swine to play
☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠
:)
100% fat
0% water
This must be one of the knobbiest synths ever made. 4 oscillators. Shame they're not polyphonic when used together. I want one of these fat boys.
