  • We're on our way to a convention in Miami, so we decided last minute to extend our trip and visit friends in Palm Harbor, Florida. We had some airline credits, and thought we'd put them to good use!
We rented a vacation rental in Palm Harbor for the first couple nights of our stay. We chose this particular house because it had good ratings (clean house, comfy bed...2 most important things!) but also becuase the house had lots of extras. Golf cart, bikes, and hot tub to name a few. The golf cart turned into a bit of a fiasco, and we bring you along for the "ride" (or lack thereof). But the house was wonderful and we highly recommend staying there if you're in the area. www.vrbo.com/786168
John and Jennifer are good friends of ours from Flagstaff, AZ who recently moved to Palm Harbor, FL to be close to family. It was fun to see them in their new home and spend some time with them exploring the area.
Jennifer told us that they were close to a town called Tarpon Springs, which is the sponge capital of the world. Well....you can't be THAT close to the sponge capital and NOT check it out! So we went to Tarpon Springs to explore, see all the sponges, and also eat at an amazing Greek restaurant called Hella's. Authentic Greek food and SO yummy!

Back in Palm Harbor, we cooked dinner at the vacation rental, then took a trip down to the water in the golf cart....where we ran across a man playing a 12 string guitar and had fun getting a little entertainment and conversation with him. We show a little of that, but the wind was picking up too much in the microphone so couldn't show a lot. After spending time on the dock, we started to head out to explore. But the golf cart died!
At the end of it all, we went to get ice cream at the Dairy Rich shop: www.yelp.com/biz/dairy-rich-p...
We also had breakfast there earlier that morning. Breakfast burritos, coffees, and ice cream at night were all top notch.
The next day we went with John and Jennifer to see their new house, and then we went to church with them at Harborside Church www.harborsidechurch.org/
After church, we went to lunch at Diesel Garage Grill, which was a fun place and of course they had all the football games on! dieselgaragegrill.com/
Mark and I headed back to the vacation rental - they had given us a late checkout due. The owners were very nice and tried to find a solution to our golf cart debacle. So all's well that ends well :)

We came across the Wall Springs Park, which was beautiful! www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...
After all that, it was time to go. For our final night in the area, we were checking into the Fenway Hotel in Dunedin, FL (only 10 minutes from Palm Harbor.). We wanted to experience another Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel. This one didn't live up to our high expectations of the brand, and we'll do a review in the next video. So stay tuned!

Good morning friends. I've had friends over the years who have worked for US air. Flying first class makes such a difference! Still watching.
Wow! Great place to stay! It's amazing how many "bartenders"can't make a mixed drink! Glad you got to meet up with friends!
So the sponge store doubles as a petting zoo? 😀

@dennis78382 SO strange! The owners ended up being very nice, but honestly, it was one of the weirdest situations we’ve had at a vacation rental!

First class does really make a difference. My dad worked for American airlines and he would always use his tax return to take us kids on a spring break vacation and we would fly first class. The house we stayed at in Palm Harbor was truly beautiful and golf cart saga aside, I would recommend it. we are pretty sure it was that bartenders first night bartending ever lol! 😂 petting zoo!!!
