Maybe to clear up what happened with Ron's dad during Harry's "dream" - when Harry tells Dumbledore, Dumbledore turns to a picture in his office and says, "Arthur (Ron's dad) is on Guard Duty tonight (at the ministry of magic). Make sure he's found by the right people." The ministry has someone guarding all of those prophecies (glass, crystal ball things) in that big, dark room where Harry and his crew run into all of the death eaters at the end of the movie. Voldemort sent his snake there to look for Harry's prophecy to try and figure out a way to defeat Harry but Arthur Weasley was there to stop it, but almost got killed in the process. Harry saved Arthur Weasley's life by telling Dumbledore about his "dream" and allowed him to be found in time before he died of injuries.
You saved me the time of typing all this out, this is exactly what I was coming down to the comments to say.
Except it’s not the ministry guarding the prophecies. It’s the order of the Phoenix. That’s why dumbledore said to the portrait “make sure he’s found by the RIGHT people” cause Ron’s dad would’ve been in a real sticky situation if he was found in the hall of prophecies by ministry of magic employees.
The torture scene where voldy is inside harry (pun intended) is still my favorite scene of all the films. The music, the acting, filmaking, emotion, ... everything is on point.

Dumbledore vs Voldemort! Then Harry waging a war within to cast Voldemort out! Epic! The sound throughout all this at the Ministry was absolutely PERFECT!

In the books it displays Harry’s anger and frustration better, the reason he’s pulling away from Ron and Hermione is because he’s angry at them for keeping him out of the loop when they’re his best friends, even though Dumbledore told them not to. Like he said he’s the most qualified and deserving to know about what’s going on yet everyone keeps projecting their own helplessness on to him. Every time he DOES open up he’s either told he’s a liar or people act weird and fearful of him. I think they do a better job of showing his personality in the books they kinda made him less angry in the movies. An example of this is that at the beginning it was actually Harry who started that fight with Dudley (because he wanted to vent his anger of being shut out) and not the other way around like they show.
Also when Harry was at Bumbledore's office he felt an irresistible urge to bite him.

Fun fact: Sirius' death scene was muted because Daniel's cries were so loud and anguished. That scene also made both Emma Watson(Hermione)and Helena Bonham Carter(Bellatrix)cry. Also, the Ministry being that deep in denial is always hilarious to me. Fun Fact#2: Evanna Lynch was a HUGE Harry Potter fan before landing the role of Luna Lovegood. She also battled anorexia as a child and wrote a letter to JK Rowling to thank her for writing the books because they were helping Evanna get through her eating disorder battle. Evanna found out about an open casting call for the role of Luna and decided to go. Obviously she got the role and did an amazing job.

Harry doesn't move in with Sirius because Sirius is still officially a wanted criminal, however, his house, 12 Grimauld Place serves as Order of the Phoenix Headquarters. After Sirius Death, it belongs to Harry because Sirius made Harry his heir, (the House Elf Kreacher is also Harry's property now...)

Lucius being free to inlfuence the Minister is just due to the fact that the Ministry didn't want to take Harry's word into account, so there is technically no proof and Lucius was always good at slythering around to avoid trouble...
Mrs Figg is a Squib (magical descent but no powers, like Mr Filch), Dumbledore asked her to check on Harry since the beginning, the movies don't mention it but he regularly went to her house for some comfort for years, she never revealed she was from the magical world but she was always nice to him anyway.
Yes Stef, magic doesn't make you smarter than the average human being (unless you are Rowena Ravenclaw, founder of the House of Ravenclaw who invented a diadem to actually be even smarter than she already was...) BTW some rooms are the invention of the four founders. Chamber of Secrets by Slytherin; Dumbledore's office by Godric Gryffindor, the Kitchens by Helga Hufflepuff and the Room of Requirement by Rowena Ravenclaw.
Harry keeps being cryptic in his letters because they are sent to Sirius and might be intercepted and read by the Ministry (which happens in the book).
Luna is a Ravenclaw, smart AND original.
Dumbledore is quite protective of Trelawney because SHE made the prophecy about Harry. If the prophecy gets destroyed (which it is at the end), Trelawner remains the only detainer ot it (although subconcsiously only but Dumbledore could find it in her mind if necessary)
The Black are blood supremacists. Sirius was against that ideology and was thrown out by his mother, he went to Harry's dad's parents.
Snape wasn't just bullied by James and his friends, he was a miserable boy, abused by his Muggle father, and sneared at by most people. You will know more about him, later.
Harry gave the Twins his earning for the Triwizard Tournament for them to be able to open their joke shop on which they were working for years.
Stef you should check out Greek Mythology on Centaurs to know what they actually did to Umbridge...
Mot Death Eaters were actually sent to Azkaban and were liberated because the Dementors were told to let them go, told by some other Death Eaters or perhaps Voldemort himself, suffice to say that the Ministry isn't sure to still have control over the Dementors... Then Death Eaters escape true battles to not get arrested, plus the benefited from the fact that the Order was set on protecting Harry first and foremost and that the Aurors were not called right away because the Minister is under the influence of a Death Eater...
When you infiltrate the gears of the political machine, you can have free reign essentially.

So, Harry's view of his parents in the light of new knowledge..and the ever-strengthening relationships of the "family" he has now.. I learned in my own life, as loved ones passed that they each left behind a gaping painful void no one could ever fill (and some people had to be cast out of my life because they were ultimately dangerous -- still loss and heartbreak)...but that didn't mean I couldn't ADD new compartments for a few new people in my life to love, TOO.
As for Harry, he only heard the best of his parents from their contemporaries. Combine that with his own sweetly idolized version of them (what you never had is going to be perfect in your head).. That can only hold up for so long.. 😢
But, it all does line up with the real life experience at which we all inevitably arrive (for better and for worse -- even horribly worse for some): seeing our parents as people -- flawed people who make mistakes, just like us.
No one can live up to perfection anyway. But that "parents epiphany" does suddenly leave one with the task of discovering and forging one's own unique adult self -- one's own blueprint. And yes, some examination and sifting of our parents' positive/negative and healthy/unhealthy issues, choosing what to incorporate and what to let go.
Generally it's a lifelong work in progress (as life does lifey things). But it can be quite rewarding, natural, and freeing, too.
Holy roly-poly! After about four years, I think what my long-gone therapist wrote down and gave to me once is starting to make sense: "There is wisdom in pain." It's not faux-inspirational, new age, hippie hippie, pseudo-psychology. 🤔

That Umbridge must be one of the top names on the most hated characters list. Right up there with Percey from the Green Mile and that warden from The Shawshank Redemption... lol

As for Harry's dad bullying Snape ... kids go through phases on their path to adulthood. There's no indication that James remained a bully. His friends - Sirius and Lupin - turned out okay. Sometimes this is a lesson you learn as a little kid, but often people revisit this lesson on occasion as they grow. There's plenty of high school stories about mean kids who finally learned their lesson and turned good. Being on the wrong side for a while in life can give you insight, compassion, and temperance regarding those who have wronged you.

James was an asshole in Hogwarts, then he went better. Just as Snape, but Snape was a Death Eater so... yeah
This is my favorite film out of all of them. Umbridge is a crazy villain and the fight at the end (in the ministry). Can’t wait for HP6.
There are several Death Eaters (followers of Voldemort) in prison in Azkaban so they could also throw any current followers in there as well, if they can capture them. Up until the end of the movie though, they were all in denial that Voldemort was back so they thought they had nothing to fear from the old Death Eaters

One of the best HP reaction videos I’ve ever seen. So authentic. Loved it.
They glossed over what happened to Mr Weasley in the movie but it's an entire chapter or two in the book.
This is the longest book in the series ay over 800 pages. There's no way they could have fit everything in the movie. This script wasn't written by Steve Kloves and IMO the new guy did a fantastic job with what he was given to deal with. Pity this was the only one in the series he wrote.
James could be an arrogant jock and also a prankster. Only with Snape did he cross the line to outright bullying (mostly encouraged by Sirius who hated Snape). The whole situation between James and Snape is complicated if you look at it from both sides.
James' relationship with Snape is complicated. James was a prankster, who crossed the line more often than not towards being a bully, but also had a strict code of ethics. Those who followed the Dark Path deserved to be fought and punished. He was very protective of people considered weak or misfits, like Peter, Lupin, and Hagrid. But all he could see in Snape was a future Death Eater, and potentially a dangerous one since Sirius said Snape knew more curses when he arrived at school than most kids in their seventh year. I think it was shortly before this, but James actually saved Snape's life. Whatever issues he had with Snape, he didn't want him to be killed. Snape's story will continue in the next few movies. I think the tragedy is these boys/men probably would have been friends if they took the time to understand each other.

Remember, we are now accessing his versions of events, a version that is likely only true "from a certain point of view." His. Additionally, it's worth remembering that Snape voluntarily became a Death Eater, voluntarily participated in a number of "activities" that far eclipsed any school-boy rivalry, and succeeded so well that he eventually rose high in the ranks. Finally, if any further convincing is required, keep in mind the old saying that "You can often tell the true nature of a man by those who call him friend." Take a moment and consider who claimed James as a friend and who claimed Severus? I suspect the answer to that simple question tells us everything we need to know.

@@jeffkovacs6521 Snape is not a narrator tho at this scene. Harry just turned the spell against him so we are just seeing Snape's memories, there is no angle, just the events.
@@SkareEk Perhaps not in the literary sense, but Harry is viewing the events as internalized and "told" by Snape... everything Harry/we see is as perceived/interpreted by Snape himself - there is no more biased or unreliable "narrator" then the "self." Do you honestly believe that James, Sirius or anyone else would have viewed those exact events as Severus did? I suspect not. Would Lilly have fallen in love with someone as apparently as cruel and vindictive as Severus perceived James to be? Again, likely not. The truth is,James somehow managed to earn the trust, respect and loyalty/love of virtually every character we are implicitly/explicitly led to like, while Severus, well, became a high ranking Death Eater.
Dumbledore is much more of a badass in the books. In the scene where they try to arrest him, he doesn't escape right away. He basically defeats all of them quickly and effortlessly, has a talk with Harry and McGonagall and then leaves.
Dudley stays because he knows Harry is the only one who can save him. Also dudley & malfoy both have great deleted scenes you should watch them.
It is an interesting question about why the known Death Eaters are simply walking around. At this stage, the Ministry of Magic has not acknowledged that Voldemort is back, so it is not a crime or anything to simply be Lucius Malfoy. In effect, the Death Eaters are still "under cover" to the larger wizarding world, even though the Order of the Phoenix members (the good guys) clearly know who most or all of the bad guys are. It is the "calm before the storm," and the war has not yet started. . .
I don't recall clearly from the books (it has been many years xD) but I think some of the deatheaters that they were in positions of power (like Malfoy) weren't running around saying that they were deatheaters. Obviously the order members knew because they were meeting each other and fighting but even if they told ( which they didn't because they wanted to keep the order a secret) the deatheaters would just deny it. As the "fake" Moody said in the previous movie "a lot of wizards claimed that they only did Voldemort's bidding under the influence of the Imperius curse but how we sort out the liers"

One of the reasons Dudley points at Harry is because Dudley is a Muggle - he can’t see the Dementors. All he saw was Harry get angry, then bad shit happened.

No particular reason I picked this video to comment this, but your reactions are always thoughtful and emotional which are basically the two ingredients that *make* a good reaction imo. So many other creators out there seem to cater to this idea of being "boisterous and edgy", rarely able to take anything seriously, holding back their emotions, making jokes when they feel like they "have to". But you get it, I think. People respond to emotionally intelligent people that have thoughtful insights into characters and themes, and you're brimming with all of that-- so thanks for the great watches. Cheers!

Well his supporters didn't have to worry about getting arrested because the ministry was refusing to admit Voldemort was back. Now that he is out in the open, yeah technically they can be rounded up and arrested. But both sides will be recruiting at this point and it would be pretty dangerous to confront any of them.
This isn't a "the book was better" comment. IMO, this HP movie was amazing. If you want more of that amazing, the book is the next logical step. There are more occlumency lessons with Snape (and memories).
And then there's Harry's grief-ridden tirade and panic in the aftermath of Sirius's death (denial, anger, bargaining, etc). It'll make you cry again. It feels so raw and real that it made me feel like I was intruding on someone else's too personal experience.
Harry being all optimistic and chipper as they head to the train home in the movie always feels wrong to me (too soon - he's not there yet emotionally).
He's pretty much shut down and angry for a good while before Sirius's death in OOTP. Cedric's death, Dumbledore shutting him out (he explains this at length later in the book), numerous torture detentions with Umbridge, and Sirius at a distance because he's still a wanted criminal. All of that understandably put Harry on edge and snapping. But after Sirius dies? No way he's looking on the bright side yet. ...He goes through stages. And in the end, certain members of the order let the Dursleys know that they expect Harry to be treated decently and if they don't hear from him frequently enough, one of them will stop by in all their obvious strangeness (Dursleys pride themselves on their "normalness!"). So, Harry's still left brokenhearted over Sirius but has a bit of comfort from everyone else.

One thing about the Dementors that they never mentioned in the movie. In the books it is explained that muggles can't see the Dementors. That's why when they asked Dudley "Who did this to you?" Dudley pointed at Harry, because Dudley couldn't see the Dementors and thought Harry was responsible for what happened. Luna may be strange but she is a good and caring friend and you'll see more of that in the books. I like her even though she is strange or should I say that she's unique.

Can somone who red books explain me how he was able just go inside harry like he was ghost and how Voldemort couldnt tell that part of himself lives inside harry knowing that there is steong conection betwen them.
Not sure how he physically gets inside him as the ghost, I assume just dark magic. Voldemort understands his connection with Harry after the Arthur Weasley attack

You should read the books, there's way more detail... more scenes, an extended Christmas where they visit Ron's Dad in hospital... The movies are just a brief glimpse of the books.

And yes, it is a totally Republican thing to put children in EVEN MORE danger in the name of "freedom". Their answer to school shootings is "arm the teachers" with ZERO explanation of where they're gonna get the training & who will pay for the training & a "gun in every classroom".
Having untrained people using a firearm around children sounds VERY unsafe to me. Especially when the so-called trained professionals didn't do a fugging thing for like TWO HOURS as a gun man slaughtered over TWENTY children. Just absolutely destroyed those children to the point that they had to be identified from the remains of their clothing.
And yet, the answer isn't better gun control laws.... It's more amateurs with guns. Yes, let's have people who have likely never even shot a gun before have one around children. Let's have people who have likely never experienced a life or death adrenaline rush try to keep a steady hand so that children in the next room aren't killed. Let's not do ANYTHING about 99% of mass shootings being done with AR style weapons by males under the age of 30. Like hmm, maybe an age restriction on those type of guns? No. Of course not anything LOGICAL like that. Let's just make teachers carry guns.
And now they wonder why there's a teacher shortage, especially in these Republican states.

He willingly went to the cross and took the punishment we deserve by dying on the cross for our sins. Then 3 days later rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eye witnesses and then ascended into Heaven where he sits at the right hand of God.
