I just wanna say, looking back on this movie it probably is in my top 3 now. Like it acc was so good and I was just so frustrated with Umbridge and how much Harry and everyone was constantly beaten down BUT wow, this movie is next level

Oh yeah, Order of the Phoenix is amazing. I've noticed how much you love Emo Boy (aka Snape, no shame, I love him just as much if not more than you 😊😍) so after you finish all the HP movies I would like to suggest a movie that seems right up your alley with him as a major character. It's called Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and it is one of my absolute favorite movies and I bet Emo Boy would be your favorite character in that movie. Like he is so fine and amazing in that movie, I can't recommend it enough it is just THAT good .
Yeah, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that it is actually a good movie - it used to be my least favorite in the series, but that's probably just because it left out / rushed so many things from the book (I mean, they did turn the longest book into the shortest movie) and OotP was my favorite book.
The movies did her exceptionally dirty. I wish they portrayed her wit, ferocity, and humor. Instead we got the most watered down version of her possible.
Imelda Staunton did an amazing job playing a character who was more hated than the story's main villain. The fact that Umbridge was more hated than Voldemort himself makes the scene where she gets carried away like firewood by the centaurs that much more satisfying. Also, when I first saw Grawp, I thought he looked like the illustrated kid on the cover of MAD Magazine

In the book the dementors suck out your happy memories and leave you with nothing but the bad ones but since dudley has never wanted for anything or been denied anything when the dementors attack dudley hes forced to relive his memories and he sees what an asshole he is and from that day on he tries to be nice to harry he even leaves a cup of tea outside harrys door but harry steps on it when he goes to leave and interprets it as a cruel prank unfortunately 2. right before the centaurs appear umbridge says that the ministry kept saying that they needed to silence harry but she was the only one who did anything about it revealing that shes the one who sent the dementors after harry 3. the squib lady in the beginning actually watched harry as a kid she was his babysitter and would watch him when the dursleys would go out and harry didnt like going over to her house she did this on purpose so they would keep sending him over and she could keep an eye on him she knew they wouldnt let her watch him if her enjoyed going to her house 4. bellatrix, nariscsa (dracos mom) are sisters and they have another sister andromida shes tonks mom but she was disowned for marrying a muggle this makes tonks dracos cousins as as well as second cousins to sirius 5. danel radcliffs scream was so heartbreaking when sirius died that it made hermione and bellatrixs actors cry so they decided to mute it 6. since you mentioned dobby i want to tell you that hes actually working in the kitchens of hogwarts and gets paid 1 gallion a week dumbledoor offered more but dobby said 1 was enough he spends it on socks 7. the reason atrhur hasnt been in the underground is because minisrty workers have there own way in but since he was escorting harry they had to go in through the visitors entrance basically 8. nevilles parents were tortured to insanity by bellatrix and put into St Mungo's which is a hospital neville goes to visit regularly but they dont really recognize him also hes using his dads wand which is why hes not very good at magic but its broken durring the battle at the ministry and he gets a new one that chooses him and actually becomes good at magic 9. at one point in the book harry is extremly rude to umbridge and when mcgonagall hears about it she offers him a biscut 10. after sybil is fired dumbledoor hires the centaur who saved harry in the first movie and this infuriates umbridge because she sees them as a lower species 11. sybil is the one who made the prophecy about harry and voldemort and dumbledoor is worried that the death eater would try to capture her and torture her for info thats why he doesnt let umbridge dismiss her from the school grounds 12. in the books hemione jinxes the paper the students sign after joining the D.A so that if anyone sniches it will reveal them and its actually Chos friend who sinches because umbridge threatened her mom who works at the ministry in the movie they made it Cho and it was implied that umbridge used the truth potion on her 13. percy weasely rons brother works at the ministry and is currently on bad terms with his family as he refused to believe the ministry was wrong hes actually the one holding cho and harry in the scene in dubledoors office 14. the twins had been pranking umbridge all year at one point they turned a corridor into a swamp and umbridge couldnt get rid of it all the teacher pretended they couldnt either and it stayed there for weeks until they had to take it down but the teachers kept a little bit of it in the corner to remember it by 15. the reason why the weasley products are much more prevalent in this movie is because harry gave his winnings from the tri wizard tournament to fred and george after cedrics family refused it this lead to them being able to fund there products and make more 16. The really heartbreaking thing about Harry's scream when Sirius died is that Daniel Radcliffe is actually screaming, and it was so devastating for the cast to hear, they muted it because they thought it would be too much for the audience.

5:55 they don't explain it very well, but essentially Voldemort and Harry are telepathically linked. Harry can see into Voldemorts mind, and vice versa. Can you now see why Dumbledore wouldn't want to tell Harry something?
Book detail left out of the movie explains why Hermione had them sign their names on the paper: If anyone had ratted them out, the snitch would've broken out in boils that spelled "sneak" across their face.
It took me so long to realize (like 17 rewatched of this movie and a A TON of reactions) to finally realize when Harry tells snape “he’s got padfoot at the place where it’s hidden” snape tells the order and that’s why they show up and save everyone

“Did he just refer to Harry like that because he can?” Sirius was absolute BEST friend’s with Harry’s dad, James (which is also Harry’s middle name), and during the fight with Lucius he got flashbacks to the first war when he was fighting by James’ side and now he’s fighting with Harry who is a spitting image of his father
Ginny was such a strong and independent girl, speaking out and going against the crowd but the movies just kind of have her in the background as a quiet pessimistic ...girl
I was studying in London when this was filmed. They closed Kings cross for the whole day for that one scene. Or at least during my class times Very inconvenient lol.
Interesting behind the scenes detail: Emma Thompson (Trelawney) at one point was married to Kenneth Branagh (Lockhart), who then cheated on Thompson with Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix).

It still baffles me that the movies didn't ever explain what actually happened with the dementors in the beginning. It was in fact Umbridge who sent them in an attempt to discredit Harry
as a diehard marauders fan seeing sirius die kills me every time cause i do my best to ignore that fact lol, also this is the shortest film but the longest book, so much gets lost in this movie and the book is so much more interesting
It's funny that you said Umbridge gives traditionalist Tory vibes because that actress is playing Queen Elizabeth II in the upcoming season of the Crown. It's going to be so weird to see her as anything other than Delores Umbridge.

Considering how much had to be left out, because this is the longest book but the shortest movie, it's actually one of the best adaptations. I actually think this screenwriter did a better job than Steve Kloves who wrote all of the other screenplays. Poor Harry is dealing with so much in this one. PTSD, everyone calling him a liar, being tortured by Umbridge, Voldemort running around in his head, being kept in the dark and teenage hormones all mixed together.
Umbridge is also the only character that I wanted to personally stomp her head in 😩 Like how she stays so infuriating is beyond me sis can just look my way and I'm ready to split that wig.

Before October is over you should watch _Bram Stoker's Dracula_ (1992), if you've never seen it. Gary Oldman's performance as the Count is riveting, and the rest of the A-list cast is also extraordinary, though Keanu Reeves's attempt at a London accent is extraordinary for all the wrong reasons.
In the books what the Weasleys do is WAY bigger. Umbridge has to spend days running round the castle dealing with fireworks that the staff keep calling her for in case dealing with it is not within their role 🤣🤣🤣 They also turn a whole corridor into a swamp.
Ooh ooh ooh! I forgot the best fun fact of this movie! All the cats you see on Umbridges decorative plates in her office are rescue cats brought in for the movie. After filming finished, they were all adopted!

Hey Rebecca, so first Bellatrix is Sirius' cousin, that makes it way bad. Also everybody hates Umbridge or Umbi*ch. Luna, god she is so precious as a human, my favorite character. Ginny Weasley the powerful girlboss. And I can't wait for the next movies. ❤❤❤
The trouble with this movie, other than Umbridge, who represents every toxic matronly aspect a Brit can endure, is that a lot of the actual story is altered and shortened, and so motivations of characters are not set up properly, because those scenes in the book just aren't there. Also the confusion is on purpose, because of revelations in the future features that are not to be revealed until then. The time before a war starts is always a murky and unkowing time, and who is on what side is still to be determined.
Dolores Umbridge is maybe not a "favourite" character, but she is definitely one of the most interesting ones, in the books and in the movies. Imelda Staunton really understood the role.
By the way Vondelmort didn’t kill Cedric, he ordered Wormtail to do it. Same thing but not, kinda. I was reading the last book in this series when this movie came out, this movie still has the best wizard duel in all of cinema history! Nothing compares, ever, to Vondelmort verses Dumbledore! Shortest movie for the longest nivel, LOL. Half of the novel isn't in the movie... Dumbledore actually comes from the verb To Dumble which means make to lot of noise, like a bumblebee... The Italian version mistakenly translated the name as Silencio which obviously means the opposite. Umbridge is the most hated character of the franchise, evenmore than Voldemort because she represents ordinary, day to day evil that we all experienced at least once in our lives... The teachers were compleicit with the twins to taunt and troll Umbridge for a whole season ! If you wish her to suffer, you better read the book, subtle hints are given to tell you what exactly the Centaurs did to her (check out your Greek Mythology) Dumbledore admitted to Harry that with great intelligence also came less mistakes but the mistakes he made were subsequently much bigger...
they dont show it enough but the whole book harry has so much anger and feels isolated partly bc dumballdoor is staying away from him bc voldy can see in his mind and part bc voldy is in his mind making him feel more alone and angry
Umbridge is the best villain, not only in Harry Potter, but all of fiction. Edit: daily reminder that Umbridge was most likely, canonically gangraped by those Centaurs, since thats basically their whole thing in Greek Mythology...
JK Rowling clarified that Umbridge was not physically harmed or "defiled" by centaurs and also that centaurs aren't as beastly in HP universe as they are in Greek mythology.
Something that always bothered me is that no one thought to point out to Umbridge that, even if Voldemort isn't back, he had supporters. That there are other evil wizards and witches. I mean wasn't it peaceful between Grindelwauld and Moldy Shorts? Shouldn't we be prepared in that situation?
Sad fact : On that day ,that they wanted to do the ministry scene Daniel Radcliffe grandmother had passed away and that's why they quieted the scene .Daniel was really feeling it
It seems like Harry was a bit harsh towards Cho after Umbridge discovers them, but in the book it makes a bunch more sense... Firstly, it isn't Cho that betrays them, it's her friend... Harry isn't too mad at Cho about this, but she then tries to defend her friend and there's this thing where she doesn't like Hermione and badmouths her, which Harry gets pissed off about... Not to mention there are the issues where she's not really over Cedric yet and things just aren't working out in general... She's a bit moody... I find this film to be reasonable, although it arguably has issues still... I'll be interested in seeing how you find the next film though... Half Blood Prince is probably my least favourite of the movies... Even if you don't compare to the book, it just doesn't work for me well as a film, despite many cool and fun parts that are still in the film... Goblet of Fire has many issues if you compare it to the book, but if you ignore the book, it's arguably a decent enough movie... For the Half Blood Prince there is weird pacing and other issues I have with the film... I'll leave it at that for now or I might risk spoiling stuff.

I never liked how much the movies leave out. I had no idea why so many people were afraid to say Voldamort's name until long after the Fantastic Beasts movies came out. They don't explain that in Fantastic Beasts, I was just using them to explain how long it took me to figure it out because I still haven't read the books. Some day I do plan to read them, but now I'm a little intimidated to start reading all of those.

They literally completely explain it. As to why Harry does the training with Snape to be able to block him out...
Snape's flashbacks put into perspective that scene in Prisoner of Azkaban where he has to face his bullies. A simple detail but quite effective.
Exactly, I love that it works on a first watching or reading but has so much more significance once you know more. Really the whole series.

Considering how much had to be left out, because this is the longest book but the shortest movie, it's actually one of the best adaptations. I actually think this screenwriter did a better job than Steve Kloves who wrote all of the other screenplays.
Poor Harry is dealing with so much in this one. PTSD, everyone calling him a liar, being tortured by Umbridge, Voldemort running around in his head, being kept in the dark and teenage hormones all mixed together.
Umbridge is also the only character that I wanted to personally stomp her head in 😩 Like how she stays so infuriating is beyond me sis can just look my way and I'm ready to split that wig.

Before October is over you should watch _Bram Stoker's Dracula_ (1992), if you've never seen it. Gary Oldman's performance as the Count is riveting, and the rest of the A-list cast is also extraordinary, though Keanu Reeves's attempt at a London accent is extraordinary for all the wrong reasons.
In the books what the Weasleys do is WAY bigger. Umbridge has to spend days running round the castle dealing with fireworks that the staff keep calling her for in case dealing with it is not within their role 🤣🤣🤣 They also turn a whole corridor into a swamp.

This was one of my least favourite Harry Potter films when I was younger but its now my favourite as an Adult!
The trouble with this movie, other than Umbridge, who represents every toxic matronly aspect a Brit can endure, is that a lot of the actual story is altered and shortened, and so motivations of characters are not set up properly, because those scenes in the book just aren't there. Also the confusion is on purpose, because of revelations in the future features that are not to be revealed until then.
The time before a war starts is always a murky and unkowing time, and who is on what side is still to be determined.
Dolores Umbridge is maybe not a "favourite" character, but she is definitely one of the most interesting ones, in the books and in the movies. Imelda Staunton really understood the role.
You know the movies fucked up when we're on the fifth one right now and Rebecca doesn't even remember Ginny's name.

Dumbledore actually comes from the verb To Dumble which means make to lot of noise, like a bumblebee... The Italian version mistakenly translated the name as Silencio which obviously means the opposite.

JK Rowling clarified that Umbridge was not physically harmed or "defiled" by centaurs and also that centaurs aren't as beastly in HP universe as they are in Greek mythology.

The dialogue between Harry and Voldemort when Harry crucio’s belladrix is one of my favourite moments in the series. Just my opinion.
Something that always bothered me is that no one thought to point out to Umbridge that, even if Voldemort isn't back, he had supporters. That there are other evil wizards and witches. I mean wasn't it peaceful between Grindelwauld and Moldy Shorts? Shouldn't we be prepared in that situation?
Sad fact : On that day ,that they wanted to do the ministry scene Daniel Radcliffe grandmother had passed away and that's why they quieted the scene .Daniel was really feeling it

It seems like Harry was a bit harsh towards Cho after Umbridge discovers them, but in the book it makes a bunch more sense... Firstly, it isn't Cho that betrays them, it's her friend... Harry isn't too mad at Cho about this, but she then tries to defend her friend and there's this thing where she doesn't like Hermione and badmouths her, which Harry gets pissed off about... Not to mention there are the issues where she's not really over Cedric yet and things just aren't working out in general... She's a bit moody...
I find this film to be reasonable, although it arguably has issues still... I'll be interested in seeing how you find the next film though... Half Blood Prince is probably my least favourite of the movies... Even if you don't compare to the book, it just doesn't work for me well as a film, despite many cool and fun parts that are still in the film... Goblet of Fire has many issues if you compare it to the book, but if you ignore the book, it's arguably a decent enough movie... For the Half Blood Prince there is weird pacing and other issues I have with the film... I'll leave it at that for now or I might risk spoiling stuff.

I never liked how much the movies leave out. I had no idea why so many people were afraid to say Voldamort's name until long after the Fantastic Beasts movies came out. They don't explain that in Fantastic Beasts, I was just using them to explain how long it took me to figure it out because I still haven't read the books. Some day I do plan to read them, but now I'm a little intimidated to start reading all of those.
