Today is the first time I got my model to run. I learned what that silver selector was next to the shutter selector. It would not rotate to a Dow to the bottom of the camera position and barely move past the middle on the way back up. I finally used a wrench to press it to the down position, and without pressing the main trigger button, the camera ran. Finally stopped, but when rewinding it started running again with me not pressing the little start button. That button didn't seem very springy. I rotated that selector toward the top of the camera and it stopped the running. But I still had to use the wrench to push it back down to get the camera running. I ran it at very slow speeds. So, a mystery, but at least it runs. First time it ran in my possession, which is about 30 years. Has many accessories, case, but no reverse crank. Advise for those with a case. Camera locks in hard when slipped in. Will seem impossible to get out. Push the camera to the top of the case by pushing on the bottom of the handle with your right thumb, while pulling the bottom of the case toward you. Comes right out.

Hi sclogse, reads like your Bolex needs a CLA aka Cleaned Lubed and Adjustment. This would be the case if it hasn't been used in 30 years. When these cameras are packed away for decades the lubricants within have collected dust, dirt and tiny film particles. This will cause the Bolex to operate slow then stop or not at all.
