@Tom Schleusener Awesome that's why I came here. I'd long remembered that there had been a fumblerooski years before the 1984 orange bowl, but couldn't remember and pin down when and who did it til today. I watched this game live, rooting for Nebraska b/c I hated OU 🤣 1:56:58
Husker fan here. I've never seen a scarier back than Billy Sims. Once he creased the line it was terrifying. Him and LP (rip) two of the greatest backs of all time with pro careers cut short too soon. The other thing is Paul Tabor was absolutely destroying Odious Lee and Lee was a player. Literally blowing him off the line three or four yards every snap. Great rivalry. Miss it even though OU ripped my heart out yearly as a lad.
Sims was one of the best ever. He was a lot like Dorsett in personality also. Very strong character and stand up guy. Hate the Sooners but have to admire excellence
Two of my best friends were managers for the OU football team. At 24:39 as the camera focuses on Tom Osborn, David comes into view working the sideline.
OU (Sims) running it down Huskers' throat. I was in the stadium for that game. Sims backbreaking 75yard 4th qtr run still sets my blood on fire. Heaven. Great rivalry - so much respect btwn these programs.
This tells you how big this game was that Keith Jackson did it instead of USC-UCLA or Michigan-Ohio State or even Penn State-Pitt. Amazing how times have changed in college football…
Ohio State played Michigan the week before, and he did the Buckeyes Michigan game too. Both were great rivalries. Too bad Oklahoma and Nebraska isn't a rivalry anymore
Wow you’re right. I was in 7th grade that year growing up in North Jersey. Woolfolk was on the Wolverines so a lot of interest on that game. I had forgotten that year that game was on the week for Thanksgiving…
I love watching Billy tear up one of the best defenses in the country. But this also reminds me of how great our defenses were in the day. I believe BV is slowly but surely getting OU back to having those tough, hard-nosed defenses again.
I was at this game... sat on the very top row. If I'm remembering correctly, there was a terrible accident during halftime in which the Sooner Schooner accidentally ran over a band member, who later died. Does anyone remember this?

Sims was a special back. One of the best ever.
RIP, Russell Gary (#9 for Nebraska who chased Billy down) at 1:45:00

Billy Sim like a grasshopper over football field goal line

I used to love watching this game each year as a Big Ten fan. Always rooted for Nebrasksa. Little did I know.

This was always on a Friday after Thanksgiving. All eyes were on this game and none other.

My favorite part is when Valora scores after the bomb by Watts he gives five to a state trooper sitting there on an end-zone bench.
Billy Sim, Billy ball🏈
Billy Sims turned 24 years old that September 18. Herschel Walker dominated for Georgia as an 18 year old throughout the 1980 season.
A mishandled kickoff by Notre Dame in Sugar Bowl helped Georgia too
We aren't talking about walker, that over rated bum!!!
