the fact that they utilized d johnson in the last minute is kind of crazy, do they not have another RB? I think the coaches were scared of fumbling the ball so they relied on him but idk
Game would have been over sooner if they’d have run the ball on 3rd down before their last field goal (they didn’t need a touchdown there), and/or do that thing where the QB stands around for a few seconds then kneels on each snap of their last possession. No risk of a RB fumble or injury that way. It was a bit reminiscent of the Miami vs GT ending 😬
Oh thank god, I think running the ball on Michigan is gonna end up similar to how it went with Texas regardless, but DJ is a phenomenal blocker for Penix and I was nervous going into the Natty without him
Here for the punches. God damn Penix was on fire, simply unstoppable. Was worried about our pass defense but god damn he tore us open. Great game, go win it all Huskies! Yall the real deal
Yep. Almost everyone thinks they will lose to Michigan and give Washington minimal respect . They think UM is more talented and don’t factor in UW’s grit. It will be another close game but I like the Huskies’ chances.
Penix and WR crew played NFL level and kudos to them. Their OL was very solid, especially on the edge. The Husky D played way better than the pundits said prior. Their DL gave a great push, flustered Ewers, and kept Mitchell and Sanders in check. Texas made way too many mistakes and the worst game after OU. Well done UW. Hook’em
I’ve gotta say I’ve become a fan of you this year Josh, even though you (or your “model”) continually keeps picking against the Dawgs, I can tell that you secretly have an affinity for this squad. Please pick Michigan to win, we’ve gotta keep this streak rolling!😂
Washington played awesome! I was there and saw it. Their receivers are all awesome and can catch anything that comes close to them! However, Texas played with a couple of true freshman on the backend, Ewers played probably his worst game in a Texas uniform, Texas has like 14 penalties to Washington’s 3 (I think), X didn’t do hardly anything, AD didn’t catch a pass until late in the game, Texas had two TO’s almost in the red zone and they still almost won that game. I feel good where Texas is at, but Washington’s QB and Receivers are elite!
There was a shot of Sark in the 3rd quarter that had me laughing…he had the same look I had when I walked in on my wife cheating on me. I thought he did well to get the team fired up for one last effort because he looked absolutely beaten and shell shocked to me.
Dillon Johnson has been a key component for the Huskies this year. He’s a very underrated RB, and even help the o-line protect Penix. Although the team is pass happy, they need DJ. It seems he’ll be a game time decision. Washington hasn’t faced a defense like Michigan, and Michigan hasn’t faced an offense like Washington. As a Husky fan, and I hope I’m wrong, they’re in trouble if DJ can’t play. Luckily, Penix still has that o-line, still has Jack Westover who can block and catch, still has Odunze, McMillan and Polk, all who’ll be in the NFL, can run routes and catch the ball. They’ve been proving everyone wrong, and we just saw Josh here eat some crow. Gotta go with my gut and pick Washington here. Washington 28 Michigan 24
@@sergeant_salty I just read on Bleacher Report he’s expected to play. His X-rays were negative, and Ryan Grubb said, “We do expect him to play.” The question is, how effective will he be? How much can his foot heal while also practicing and getting ready for what’ll be the biggest game of his and his teammates lives.
@@Lutefisk_Fettuccini he's even more of beast than i thought if he plays, i mean you heard those screams. either way, DJ or Nixon, i'm picking the Huskies next week🟣🐺🟣
If you look at QBs with very high completion %, it's usually because they are throwing dink and dunk 5 -10 yard passes, outs, screens, etc. Penix is pushing it down field way more than other QBs. Even then he is putting up 66% comp.
UW in 2023 is the 2021 Ohio State Buckeyes with CJ Stroud, somewhat one dimensional with elite deep passing that keep you in the game even if you're coming from behind. Michigan built their team around beating that team, and are uniquely well suited to it. Penix is better than Stroud, but the 2023 Wolverines passing defense is better than 2021. It's gonna be a great game, it's not a given to either program.
A lot of these so-called NFL scouts and sports broadcasters exposed themselves with how they were gushing over Penix. That man has been doing that all year long.
I'm a Husky fan, and have no love for the ducklings to the south of us, but after beating them 3 times in the last two years, and Texas twice, I can say oregon gave us more trouble than texas and I think they would have also beat texas in a bowl game with superior QB play, Oline play, and better pass rush then texas. 5 wins against those two teams during the UDubb 21 game win streak is pretty remarkable and not talked about enough.
Michigan hasnt faced a top 40 offense all year thats why there defense is so good and penix is going to pick them apart. I think Washington beats michigan worse than texas. Keep doubting the HUSKIES of you want. Remember Washington has a pass rush to.
Washington played their a game, Michigan has not and still won Washington cannot play any better than they already played against Texas DIllion Johnson is not a 100% Michigan gonna blow the doors off washington.
@@rogerwescott2301If they haven't played their A game then they won't ever play their A game. Michigan can't cover these receivers. UW has the best O line in the nation. I’m very happy as a Huskies fan that the Huskies defeated the Longhorns in a thrilling competitive game. The Huskies defense defended late in the 4th quarter.
And can't understand why he thinks people agreed with his pick of Texas?! Not us Washington or Pac 12 folk, we know better, jeez! Its obvious you wouldn't have 'THUNK IT' Huskies in the Natty.
Dude just can’t deal with a team that doesn’t fit his prototypical college blue blood team beating everyone they play. He throws out the compliments after every game ( that he was wrong about) but can’t just say the Huskies were the better team. We beat Oregon 3 times in 13 months. He picked against them every time. We beat Texas twice in a year…. He still thinks they are the better team. Is this even logical at this point???
Honestly the advanced stats show this game was 50/50. The matchups beat the talent like he said. Close game. Texas had the final chance to win and had a bad last play call tbh
The Texas QB had a clear line of sight, defender playing the back corner of the endzone, and their best receiver in position, what about that sounds like the wrong play call? The issue was the QB tried to loft a fade rout to his taller receiver who got massively out jumped. If he throws a dart, chest high, leading the receiver slightly towards the sideline, it's either a catch or PI. The play call was right, the pass was badly thrown.
@@keithouderkirk7493 agreed but they should’ve ran it. Texas is a much stronger and heavier team up front in tight spaces. Not as fast, but bigger line men. Should’ve just ran and mixed it up. The throw wasn’t good and the play turned out okay I guess I just expected Sark to be more tricky and clever than to call the same play twice in crunch time vs a very experienced and adaptable Washington roster
@@robertdenton6936 you could also say the opposite and that the injury just killed more clock. Texas had them on the ropes at the end and didn’t close. Congrats Washington but everyone knows Texas was getting hot at the end. Penix just closed the game better than Ewers is what it comes down to
Shows how much ya actually know. The last play was a percect call. It was a poorly thrown pass... and if ya actually think "but it was right there." It only goes to peove the point even more... bad touch on the ball and poor location. More of a bullet type pass down in front of the receiver wouldve been e actly right as the DB was out of position. Love that the vid here breaks it down and statrs straight up Washington dominated the entirety of the game and the bad mishaps that gave Texas an opportunity to win and ya make pretend the "advanced stats" say anything... lol gtfo... go prattle numbers off... this is the kinda thing that suggests in the playoff of 4 trams a team has a 1 in 4 chance to win it all... when if yer Bowling Green goin against any one of the actual playoff teams... no. You dont have a 1 in 4 chance. Statistics are quite often skewed. Logic dictates truth. Not advanced stats lol😊
Penix was like a cheat code. He beat good coverage with unbelievable accuracy. Thats what you get sometimes when you have a 24 yr old QB who has been with the same coach for 6 years. They were just on a whole different level
I was laughed at by a few Texas fans for saying Washington was going to win. I watched a lot of their games this year because a buddy of mine is a UW alumnus and is a huge fan. I watch the games to talk football with him, and he watches Tennessee for the same reason. It was one hell of a game, but I'm glad they pulled it out. I was wrong about how they'd win, though. I thought they'd have a comfortable lead, but it wouldn't be a blowout. Turns out it was a literal last second defensive effort to win it.
The Texas woes will continue, I'm afraid, until they upgrade their d-backs coaches. This game left me jelly of Wash's d-back coaches. They were tight all game.
And YOU will bet against the Huskies again. When will you be a believer? You have seen Micheal Penix more than once, and you still don't think the Huskies are good enough.
It's the sunk cost fallacy. Once you've bet against UW so many times in a row until eventually, they drop one, and they can say,'I was right!' It took me 25 or 30 or whatever tries, but I was finally right they'll lose.
The intangible you’re referring to is called Esprit de Corps. All championships teams have it and can only be uniquely measured from within the walls of their locker room. The Washington Huskies have it.
I did predict Michigan vs Washington weeks ago and have a casino ticket to corroborate. Reason? I went to the 1991 seasons Rose Bowl when Udub smoked Michigan 34-14 and it wasn't that close to win their only Natty. I figured history tends to repeat itself, maybe this is the year that history repeats. Plus, UConn Huskies won the Basketball playoffs, why not the UW Huskies the Football playoffs. Nothing analytical in my analysis. More wishful thinking, Great historical memories and 2023 is the year of the Husky. We shall see.
Radical ideas: 1. Bowl games should replace one of the non conference games and be played in the middle of season. Bowl bound teams can retain the extra practice sessions as rewards, and the student athletes would have more time to think before declaring for draft or jumping into the portal. 2. Playoff games (whatever playoff system it ends up to be) should be played in December, and into January only if totally necessary. 3. Transfer portal should open after the championship game. 4. Colleges should form a union, to deal with NIL and other issues. Shouldn't education and scholarship money still count for something? If the inept NCAA could escape anti-trust, this union should have a more valid shield.
That was the weirdest play! They would’ve been better off like you said just taking a knee but since they ran the ball and they’re running back, got hurt, and he looked like he was hurt pretty bad and in pain, that stops the clock and the clock doesn’t start until the ball is snapped, so that’s essentially a time out!that’s one of the crazier things I’ve ever seen of how you could’ve possibly get beat by having an injured player stop the clock for the opposition! Go you dub! Washington and purple is nothing but the W is nothing but an upside down M that’s blue like Michigan!
They were literally one 12 yard completion from losing that game. Whether you think they outcoached them, or deserved to win, or were the “better” team doesn’t change the fact they were literally one twelve yard completion from losing.
Washington is clearly the better team - even pre game I thought it obvious ... I was surprised about Texas hoopla I thought they're a bit overrated ...
Congratulations to Washington I’ll be rooting for them! As an Alabama fan, I sure wish that we had a quarterback that can drop back and deliver the ball on time and that we had a passer of the ball and not an athlete that takes off and runs and takes sacks and fumbles and had 116 yards passing in the Rose Bowl! Nick Saban has to start Julian saying the true freshman, best quarterback from California is on campus, you use Melro if he stays in certain packages and use him just like New Orleans does but you start the freshman right off the bat because his comp is Baker Mayfield! That’s what Bama needs is someone to get the ball to our playmakers!
that’s the thing about washington you gotta go shot for shot w them 💯 if they ever had to play from behind they can score on a 3 play drive .. whenever they want to
No excuses here. Texas played a great game, but Washington played a little bit better. They were able to get protection in the pocket and they can rip apart anyone through the air when given that much time - especially against a team missing its top cover safety for the first half. It's a shame Jonathan Brooks was out - I think we would've put up some great numbers and protected the ball. The team out-performed its expectations going into the season, and we're proud of our guys. Good luck, UW, in the championship.
If UW had also taken the pts (like they should have) with the FG in the 1st half instead of going for it on 4th & 1 at the 20 and been up by 9 instead of 6 the ending would have been a none issue. Too many self-inflicted mistakes let Texas back into the game. But I'm sure DeBoer's a fast learner so I'm not too concerned.
UM is a bad match up for UW.. Jesse Minter had to game plan against CJ stroud and OSU. UW is built just like OSU but without the run game.. UM will be bringing heat all night.
Thing is Texas DBs didn't play bad at all, Wasn't like there were a bunch of blown coverages and Washington WRs running wideopen all night, No the truth is Penix was simply in the zone and was throwing perfect passes all night
This Washington team has discombobulated sport analysts all season! It really shows they are a bunch of dudes that know as much as we do... and in most instances not as much.
I disagree with you when it comes to the coverage of the Texas defense, most of those passes that he hit were covered tight and he simply dropped a dime, meant times through the arms of the defender and his receivers made some amazing catches.
This game shouldn't have been close. Washington probably snapped 20 plays with 10 seconds left on the play clock during the 3rd and 4th quarters when they were up by 2 scores. Then that weird injury rule at the end? UW could have iced it way earlier without those moronic coaching decisions.
You should've learned your lesson after UW beat Oregon for the second time. That Texas front was useless in pass rush situations. That is why UW won. Joe Moore award winning OL. That's how you should do a show. NOt looking at being 95Th in the country on D missing half your starters. Why am I even wasting my time? You won't learn.
I can’t believe he hasn’t put out a video on Tennessee yet, and the Nico magic. Must not want those Vol army views. Come on Josh, what ya think about our boy Nico?
Wash has an elite coach. Texas has a good coach. That's the difference. Good coaches need a roster full of elite talent to win at a high level. Hopefully sark continues to build that...that and the realization that you do need to field a defense that can defend a forward pass. Best thing Pete k can do to salvage his career is start floating the rumor that he spent the last month stoned in a dutch gay bath house. That's less embarrassing than people knowing that was your best plan to stop Washington. Also please hire a db coach that teaches a technique other than "pray ball hits me on back of head"
I disagree on Sark only being a good coach. In my opinion he’s elite. Texas were getting lit up by Penix and the Washington’s WRs, but somehow managed to keep the score tight and had a genuine chance to win it at the death despite being down by two scores with a couple of minutes left.
@@Andy-White He is not elite. Can he get there? Perhaps...but not until he puts more emphasis on defense. he needs an OC so he can manage the team as a whole. Until he does that...we aren't sniffing a title. There's no excuse for this team to have such poorly trained DBs. No excuse at all. They are pitiful. Then again he hired blake gideon. I predicted this 3 years ago. Terry Joseph is also a problem. He can recruit...but I'm not sure what he's actually teaching them. JMO

No talk about how Texas had so many uncharacteristic penalties and fumbles. Hats off to Washington, a win is a win of course. But Texas played one of their worst games of the year and that’s on them, they did it to themselves. You can’t win a game with that poor of play vs a QB with near perfect game. And yet, Texas still almost won lol… insane actually. I think 9/10 Sark gets that ball into the end zone at the end too. I know people won’t agree but this was a bad loss for Texas and really shouldn’t have gone down like that. They chose the worst time to play their worst football. But again, a win is a win for Washington. Difference for Texas is they will be back, a Penix-less Washington… doubtful. Now is the time to win because I don’t think you will see them in the playoffs again next year.

We saw proof they were not. 1 Michigan fan told me Michigan receivers were as good as Washington. Texas with their great front 7 could not even get 1 sack. Washington with not a great defense got more then 1 sack in the game. We will know soon enough.

And he bet against UW all season. Said they'll lose to Oregon both times. Said Oregon State will beat UW. Blah blah. He needs to pull his head out of the spreadsheets.
Their is a pecking order by the media. SEC first. Big 10 second. Big 12 third, ACC fourth and Pac 12... they suck, can't play defense, have a few QB's, but whatever. Thus, every year there is a bias "all year long" to how to handicap two teams from different conferences. The Pac 12 always loses because of the bias. The problem with stats and rankings in college football is conferences have maybe 12 teams playing 156 games, but only 3 pit a Pac 12 team vs a Big 12 team and somehow analysts think the stats matter... It's very hard to judge until they step on the field.

Josh still has the "statistical model" pasted in his head, although he finally figured out its BS, especially when it comes to the (GO) DAWGS!!😅
OC grubb said dillon johnson is a go for the NATTY
Oh thank god, I think running the ball on Michigan is gonna end up similar to how it went with Texas regardless, but DJ is a phenomenal blocker for Penix and I was nervous going into the Natty without him
I agree he may not get a lot of yards but he will be a factor.@@MongooseMan75
time for Rogers to step up..
Natty is not a real word.
Here for the punches. God damn Penix was on fire, simply unstoppable. Was worried about our pass defense but god damn he tore us open. Great game, go win it all Huskies! Yall the real deal
UW never gets the respect they deserve.
They Def earning and showing it this year.
Michigan will make mistakes and Washington will make them pay. Come back to this response in a week and see if I was right.
@@gabrieljohnson4213 I think the Dawgs win it all! They are just a really good all around team! Good luck next week! Hookem!
There was a shot of Sark in the 3rd quarter that had me laughing…he had the same look I had when I walked in on my wife cheating on me.
I thought he did well to get the team fired up for one last effort because he looked absolutely beaten and shell shocked to me.
The clicking thing was a plaque of Sark’s Washington teams too. It is a Sark problem.
Washington 28
Michigan 24
DJ's gone bubba.. he's been nursing that foot all season. But you're right, he is absolutely underrated. We'll miss him next week
@@Lutefisk_Fettuccini he's even more of beast than i thought if he plays, i mean you heard those screams. either way, DJ or Nixon, i'm picking the Huskies next week🟣🐺🟣
really time for Rogers to step up..he shows the flashes..just gotta keep his feet under him
If you look at QBs with very high completion %, it's usually because they are throwing dink and dunk 5 -10 yard passes, outs, screens, etc. Penix is pushing it down field way more than other QBs. Even then he is putting up 66% comp.
And UM has not faced ANYONE nearly as good as Penix. = UW wins the game!
If the O-line can keep Penix clean and we make it into a shootout... It's going to be FUN
@@rogerwescott2301If they haven't played their A game then they won't ever play their A game. Michigan can't cover these receivers. UW has the best O line in the nation. McCarthy can't play from behind. Washington will be leading with less than two mins and this time they'll kneel down to end the game.
Tuff. Go blue🏆
Its obvious you wouldn't have 'THUNK IT' Huskies in the Natty.
well you can say that now lol
@@jofra3147 yea, and before so. Duh can't be #2 and 14-0 for nuttin..lol😅
Been waiting you you GUY😂
He was simply great.
To be fair, UWs injury the last seconds gave UT that chance.
Texas pulled a 2022 Michigan.. took Washington for granted and got kicked in the privates.. nicely done Washington nicely done....
Don’t give tu that much credit. They just got beat straight up. UW beat them last yr too. tu did not take them lightly
They didnt take Washington for granted.. lol. They are just better than Texas.. live with it
Except Texas didn’t have an illegal coach on their sideline giving their dc bad information which cost the team many big plays.
@@tabc123 lol and you know that how?? I got a house in Cabo to sell you if you believe Texas is a clean program just tell me your bank information!!
Hoosier legend Michael Penix 🥲
Of course he'll bet against Washington. Let him.
i mean you only have a 50-50 shot
Penix doesn't fit his trustworthy "statistical model," I guess, plus he has a W on his helmet. (now a O or a Longhorn would be fine).
It's the sunk cost fallacy. Once you've bet against UW so many times in a row until eventually, they drop one, and they can say,'I was right!' It took me 25 or 30 or whatever tries, but I was finally right they'll lose.
Penix is a DUUUUDE for Washington. He should honestly be getting more consideration as a top 3 QB in the class
Oh Doon Zay!!!!
Washington's upcoming game over Michigan will break its streak of 10 games won by 10 points or less. Wash 38-27
Radical ideas:
My Longhorns, for a second straight year, looked out coached by Washington. Sorry, but Washington was never in danger of losing that game.
They were literally one 12 yard completion from losing that game. Whether you think they outcoached them, or deserved to win, or were the “better” team doesn’t change the fact they were literally one twelve yard completion from losing.
Washington holding all game.
What a whiner.
@@daleal7250 😂😂😂😂Lost your coach🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Washington is clearly the better team - even pre game I thought it obvious ... I was surprised about Texas hoopla I thought they're a bit overrated ...
it took Penix to have his best game of his career to win,,,and Eyers having his worst game
I love Josh, but I also remember him picking Texas several times🤪
Texas, Washington, was the true championship! Sorry, Michigan.
That’s what Bama needs is someone to get the ball to our playmakers!
that’s the thing about washington you gotta go shot for shot w them 💯 if they ever had to play from behind they can score on a 3 play drive .. whenever they want to
Called it! Though I did get Bama Michigan wrong. Huskies will win the natty. Josh tell the Jp poll to put Washington #1 or you dump it for good.
Texas didn’t play great. Two turnovers, too many penalties, no sacks nor QB touches. Many of their yards were in the final few minutes.
Im a texas fan buh i been tryna tell ppl bout penix he shoulda won heisman and will be the best qb coming out the draft
This Washington team has discombobulated sport analysts all season!
It really shows they are a bunch of dudes that know as much as we do... and in most instances not as much.
You have 1 job Josh, just tell us all Michigan will win by 70. Do your JOB!!! GO DAWGS 💜💛☔
I picked Texas. Didn’t think Washington was that legit. They are and they have that Cinderella feel to them. I’m picking them against Michigan.
that's not Cinderella it's the big bad wolf!
We won, but Texas was gallant when it counted.
I disagree with you when it comes to the coverage of the Texas defense, most of those passes that he hit were covered tight and he simply dropped a dime, meant times through the arms of the defender and his receivers made some amazing catches.
As a michigan i hope the majority of the other michigan fans know how good washington is. They are better than bama by a long shot
Texas shot themselves in the foot time and time again, and the huskies played a damn near perfect game till the last 3 min.
This game shouldn't have been close. Washington probably snapped 20 plays with 10 seconds left on the play clock during the 3rd and 4th quarters when they were up by 2 scores. Then that weird injury rule at the end? UW could have iced it way earlier without those moronic coaching decisions.
Definitely them getting cute kept tu in the game. If they had just played and didn't get fancy, they'd have at least 2 more TDs on tu.
I'm ok with it. He and most analysts get caught up on the roster instead of the coaching. Coaching and QB are really what matter.
Penix is a beast

Texas - 2 funbles by RB and ended needing a completion to win. Yes, Texas pass D was bad.
Pac 12 title was the unofficial national title game
Also don't forget Washington lost a big player their best tailback which sucks especially when they meet up with Michigan next week.
Up on Oregon both games by 2 possessions. Up on Texas by 2 possessions as well. If Washington plays a FULL GAME they blow these teams out.
Michigan to the Pit of Misery...Dilly Dilly!!!
Its a bowl game after a month with no games. Both teams made mistakes.
Big 10 wins the National Championship either way.
Texas beat themselves all year, could have easily been a national championship team but couldn’t capitalize. There’s no team in I. Hats off to Washington I saw this L coming.

Not a fan of either team but im picking Washington by 6.
Congrats to UW for a one and done national championship year. I think most people are just happy that it’s not an SEC team yet again. I’m predicting that UW will lose at least 3 games next year, so they’d better make the most of this opportunity.
Also losing no 7 is gonna make it harder for Washington to not be one dimensional.
You may be right but why write that here? Maybe wait until next yr or at least until after Monday? (Also, we have a number of under-the-radar portal transfers, and some 4 star freshmen, plus our 5-star coaches, so you may also be wrong about that "one and done"
they’re definitely a one and done program. DeBoers getting the most out of the left over players Chris Petersen left
@@christianhansen433 their schedule will be extremely tough next year. Unless you get another Michael Penix Jr, you'll have a tough time without having a running and throwing QB 7+ yards behind the line of scrimmage in shotgun formation. It seems you are a fan of the Dawgs. Good luck on Monday.

Washington is about to show Oregon how to win a title. Woof!
Oregon was very good and could play with any of the playoff teams. Washington just has that extra level of confidence.

Yep that's what everyone not a husky fans says until they play Washington. Some Texas fans were saying their receivers were as good as Washington. We saw proof they were not. 1 Michigan fan told me Michigan receivers were as good as Washington. Texas with their great front 7 could not even get 1 sack. Washington with not a great defense got more then 1 sack in the game. We will know soon enough.
Bro is lying he said Washington was this years TCU and was losing to Texas. Bro, has missed every call on Washington. Don't let this guy fool you.
Also said Washington would get owned upfront by the Texas DL. Not juan sack. He missed everywhere.
Maybe Texas never really had an edge anywhere
