Greetings partners. If you are trying to install Windows on a Acer C720 I recommend doing it with Windows 10. I did it after a small research and found that there are multiple model numbers under the same model. For example, most of you have heard of the C720 but there are four numbers after the model. I did it with a C720-3404 but not as the instruction says-

I downloaded a Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft. Is free and it lets you choose to create a recovery or ISO. Choose ISO then after the download, use Rufus, a powerful tool that allows you to create a bootable USB so you can install Windows from it.
whenever i go throught the windows install and it gets done installing and it reboots when it reboots the screen just starts flashing but the cursor isnt flashing and i can still move it so WHAT IS GOING ON

I was thinking of getting a used c740 to turn into a Win10 machine, but this looks like quite a lengthy task, especially when the screen blanks out. I have installed windows a bunch of times since the Days of Win95 but never gone through TeamViewer or something similar.

Do you still happen to a copy of this Bios? I’m in a bit of a predicament. I bought this laptop for my daughter for Christmas along with a 256 gb hard drive. I was going to flash the bios, but the url listed for mrchromebox does not exist anymore. Years ago I ran through this process on my c720 laptop without issues. I’ve promised her I’d get her set up with Windows 10, but am stuck without this bios. It is the Celeron 2955U processor. Thanks!

+ahmadaamer6 The biggest issue I have is the video display driver occasionally disappearing and I can't see what is on the screen. I have to remote in and re-run the script to restore the display. I think you could probably configure a hotkey to do this without needing remote access. Or possibly by tweaking the task scheduler script. I'm sure there is an easy fix for this, but I haven't had the time to research it. (my daughter uses the C720 and she is doing fine with it until the screen goes black once a week, and then I just fix it for her then.)
I'm stuck at the boot menu on at 8:43 in the video. I'm getting "An error happened when accessing the disk..." I don't have a clue what to do now. I've tried wiping the usb installer and putting the iso back on the flash drive and I keep getting the same thing. Not sure if it has to do with my Mac, but it seems to work for everyone else that created the installer from their Macs with the Boot Camp Assistant. :( Please help
Are all these steps even still required with the most current CoolStar method? I noticed his guides have removed some of the steps, like TeamViewer and the entire GPU fix.
+Deathgazer8669 yes, since this video has been made I released a BIOS update which fixes the intel graphics driver in the BIOS, making the GPU fix unnecessary
I got it to the last step... I was installing the graphics driver like you did but then all of a sudden my screen turned black. I have not installed the recommended UltraVNC or Teamviewer. How can i fix it? Please help. Thanks.
+Austin Freiburger I personally would use autohotkey. It can be a little particular to work with the program, but there are lots of user created scripts for doing exactly what we are talking about.
Hola. Me sucedió un problema grande en mi chromebook c720. Le cambié la BIOS y le instalé windows 10. Por defecto tenía un disco SSD de 16gb y se lo cambié por uno de 128 Gb. Desde ahí tuve problemas porque la BIOS no iniciaba desde windows ya que cambié la SSD y para desgracia se quedó en pantalla negra con un mensaje que dice: grafics console started. La chromebook quedo muerta y no se que hacer en este caso.

+eugene188 The battery life is similar to Chrome OS. The screen doesn't blank out anymore. This problem was fixed in the bios.

Try a different usb port. Mine did the same thing, but I switched ports and it worked. I think you have to plug the usb stick in a usb 2.0 port.

+simbirtv You'll need to flash the bios back, then download the Chrome OS utility for your model. It will take a few steps but won't be too bad.

Yes, but your probably only have 2GB of RAM... Which will make it feel a tad boggy. :(

You would've needed to create a backup of the original when your found it.
