One of the most seamless videos of yours to watch. “I stopped listening to my mind and started listening to the one thing no one else had access to. My heart.” Thank you for inspiring creators of all sizes.
This is one of the greatest TH-cam videos I've ever watched. The several small moments where the emotion in your voice comes out made me pause the video to take in the feeling. That feeling where you love something so much you start to tear up. I felt that. I can't wait for your influence to make those moments more common place for TH-cam.
As an editor myself. This hits me. Bringing the humanity and creative expression back into my videos has been such a prominent thing. Anyone can learn to cut footage and add cool effects from a preset pack. But it's what you do with the footage, it's how you orient it that makes the big differences. I think about a lot of these points and themes and wonder about my editing choices. but to have it said by you in this video is amazing to hear. You're an asset to this community man

I can say with absolute certainty, that this video is a masterpiece, Hillier has really surpassed the common editor, who only edits, cuts, pastes and adds transitions, he has surpassed the sophisticated editor that edits adds visual effects, he has even surpassed himself, since he discovered the most important thing about publishing and whatever profession you do, no matter what it is, the important thing is to do it from the heart. Thnx Hillier
Hayden I ADORE your content. You helped me reach my first 50,000 subscribes in just 3 videos and I just can't be more grateful. Thank you for making this content and please never stop because you always teach something new!
How can a video on editing end up being so darn entertaining? Everyone knows how good you are - but I’m going to say it anyways - you’re really good. Beyond that - you’re inspirational and provide a goal to strive towards. My editing and content is a long ways from being a fraction of a part of a segment of this quality, but I take at least one thing from each of your videos - then come back for another. So - basically- thank you!
The video has 11 minutes but after i watched it, i feel like i watched a full movie. That was a journey Man. You are so good and you know it. Congrats 👑
I’ve been a keen watcher of TH-cam through 12 years - I believe. I’m becoming a filmmaker. This was amongst the top 10 best videos I’ve ever come across on this platform. And the fact that you used the info in the meta layer. That was icing 🎂
I was going to make a joke about how the intro is too slow based for retention but honestly this video is to incredible to joke about. What you are saying in this video is what most creators/editors need to learn and understand. I've made films in the past and it honestly breaks my heart now seeing creators try to find a formula for storytelling, not for the sake of telling meaningful stories that they need or want to say but just to optimise for an AI algorithm. I'm really excited to see what you have to say and teach in Creator Now.
@@Videoeditnewbie So once you’ve paid for membership of CreatorNow you have access to the whole year. So you’ll be able to see Hayden’s course once he releases it. You also have access to the whole other library of classes been taught by other creators eg. Ryan Trahan, Yes Theory etc. There’s daily lessons which I myself edit for at creator now where it’s bite sized information chunks from different classes etc.
I hope you earn millions from this course, because that was a masterpiece in the very thing you were teaching. I laugh every time I watch a ‘how to get views on TH-cam’ tutorial with 15k views, or ‘how to tell better stories’ tutorial which doesn’t take me anywhere. This however was the opposite, absolutely nailed the execution of very things you taught the viewer throughout.
You inspire me to make better videos every time I watch your videos! I know it's SO obvious but until I watched you I didn't realise truly HOW important music can be. for example: A video I made breaking down the mountain K2, I used a different song for each different aspect, aka tense music for 'the climb', intrigue music for 'setting the scene', optimistic music for 'its getting better' rather than one long background track which a lot of people do, and I honestly think thats the difference between it getting 5k views and 620k (currently). So, THANK YOU.
The best part is this gives me a justification for not learning how to do any vfx or technical wizardry. I can barely add text to the screen, but I'll call it artistic choice!
I get the idea but to get to his lvl its just like the greatest lusician. You need to learn all thz rume and the working to abandon what you want and then create and décide your own style.... but without solid foundation one cant build the circle to break out of
I discovered this Channel over two years ago and am amazed at the progress you make. This is the editing style that propels what's always been the heart of TH-cam. Not just the company or the algorithm, but the creators passion for filming.
dude i found your channel like 12 hours ago... never heard of your story... but your editing really tells the full story damn good. I feel what u mean with the editing style. Even if i never went to any kind of school for film making or editing, im doing my editing more and more with the heart... great journey to come i guess 😁have a good day mate i will follow your story from now on ❤ from germany
I know Logan is still alive, but damn if it didn’t feel like he was Old Yeller by the end and you were forced to take him out back. Excellent job with the video, can’t wait for the 22nd to learn more.
I watch this when I need reminding why I edit. There truly are no words for when it transends the process and becomes something other - greater than its components. I am forever in search of that feeling. It makes me proud to be another Haydn who edits! Thank you for this video.
What I want to learn with editing is being patient. I just often feel so overwhelmed with all the work that lies infront of me and I just wish there would be a shortcut to the creative part. But looking at all the footage, organizing it etc just takes soo much time
This is the only person who motivates me enough to continue my passion of youtube after I hit countless roadblocks when I try to edit and come up with ideas for interesting editing content. So stoked for the classes coming up and 100% intend to learn as much as possible, thank you Hayden!

YOU ARE THE GREATEST. this video is the best case against ai that can possibly be made: it will never have a human heart that makes decisions you can't explain. thank you for pioneering this new wave of storytelling on youtube, hayden. thank you for this
I work in the creative industry. I used to have this boss who compared creative work to the band The White Stripes. He said they were so good because they were forced to work with the most stripped down, simple tools: two people, one bass, one drum set. They made immortal music without a massive production crew, complex mixing, auto tune, an orchestra, backup dancers, etc. The box they were put in was, ironically, the key to their creativity. The lesson was: all the bells and whistles in the world won't do anything for you unless you can tell a good story, and tell it with your heart.
I should watch this video once in a while to remind myself why I started this thing in the first place. To be an artist. 😢 Damn dude. Thanks. You brought tears to my heart.
God damn. It's hard to find the words for it, but this was, to put it lightly, fan-freaking-tastic. It pulls at the heart strings at just the right moments. It provides time for the viewer to allow everything to sink in prior to moving onto the next piece while not losing any momentum. It proves its own points throughout, tells a story that hooks you, and finishes with wanting more; all from an informative speech. It's purely impeccable; this is art.
this is the reason narrative film editing will be my one true love! (EMOTION) i love consuming youtube content but at the end of the day films is what makes us feel things after watching it only a select few youtube videos are able to do that.
I wish all educational videos were as much of an emotional journey as this. Beautiful pacing, visuals & sound design all making me more present with the lessons you're teaching. I feel like I’ve lost my way as a young creator because I’ve been too rigid. I’ve been too focused on creative work as a logical, repetitive experience. And that experience sucked out all the joy and interest I had in creating. I wanted my channel to be a creative outlet for my journey to becoming a race car driver. But as someone living in his mid-20s, that creative outlet became more stressful and intrusive in my ability to spend time racing. So much so that I’ve been on a one month hiatus trying to figure out what can I do about this situation. I still have a desire to create, but something I’ll need to change is the way in which I use my heart to guide the story forward. I’ve been using too much of my head to really focus on what’s really in my heart. And so I hope to change that in the months and years to come.

Ok ur gonna make cry literally on venture to start a youtube im all about authenticity, and creating from heart or dont do it at all the rush vs thought out dope content thank u so resonated finally found someone who gets it
Dude that last point is why I've completely sworn off channels like Film Booth, VidIQ, Think Media, etc. Love and respect those guys, but by watching them a lot I found I was putting myself in a box. I can feel bits of creativity coming back in my work
I've grown up on Logan for the better half of my life, I was there in his channel's infancy but then I had stopped watching in late 2018. I came back during Covid and wow, your editing style had become so much more expressive than it was prior. That format you guys had was amazing, Logan would hook me in with his shenanigans for 6-8 minutes but your editing always kept me around and 99 originals was an amazing send off to that era. It always had that feeling like it was the end to something though I didn't know back then that it was the end of your employment with Logan. I'm glad I've been around for so long to see you guys grow though it is still sad seeing you two finally part ways after so long.
Great video, man. Loving that you're letting your videos breathe more, filming and editing with emotion in mind and shifting to being an artist again. I'm on a similar path at the moment, too. Really looking forward to taking this course at some point.

Brilliant🔥 If you see a viewing spike around @3:52 ... I particularly enjoyed this cutaway😁👏
that intro is nuts. the goat of editing :)
I love the music you put while speaking. Feels like a documentary
you're the goat hayden
You’re the best storyteller on TH-cam. You inspired me to make emotional, story driven videos
I'm cutting onions while watching this..
That was absolutely beautiful.
150k views does not do the video justice, what a beautiful video, you are a fantastic human being!
Dude that last point is why I've completely sworn off channels like Film Booth, VidIQ, Think Media, etc. Love and respect those guys, but by watching them a lot I found I was putting myself in a box. I can feel bits of creativity coming back in my work
Its so sentimental and I love it. I really feel that editing its not a technique it's more like art and feelings.
Did you join his bootcamp?
@@ChrisForti yes, but I’m only like a week in. From the little I’ve watched so far, it’s awesome and I’m taking some serious notes
omg this is awsomeeee. You're master of storytelling. The way you communication by video is so motivated, inspiring and it's like you are speaking from your heart. That's true talent or i'd say hard work pays off.
I never thought I could cry with an editing video, so emotional and motivating, this is art, tysm🖤
This is the best sales pitch ever. Because it brings a ton of value by itself.
I didn’t even play the video just listened and I felt everything. Best wishes to you.
You are my hero !!! I am a member of Creator now. course no words to express my gratitude just THANK YOU !!!
