Full Throttle Saloon 2019. Is It Worth The Hype?

- We missed going inside of Full Throttle Saloon in 2015 because the lines were so long and we were bummed when it burned down just a few weeks after we left Sturgis. Now that they've relocated just seven miles off the main drag we wondered is it worth it to visit? Our answer is yes! My pals Mark and Rudy cruised over one night and when we walked in we were immediately impressed with the lights, layout, bars, music and the way they integrated the industrial equipment along with the classic bikes and cars as part of the design. It seemed like a bunch of people were there but we were told it was a slow night. If that was a slow night I can't imagine what a crowded night would be like. Either way, well done to the folks at Full Throttle Saloon and make sure you check it out at least for a couple of hours on your next trip to Sturgis. They do have camping, shooting, a general store, cabins, a pool and a lot more. We enjoyed the new Full Throttle. I'm a machinist, and when I walked in and saw those machines (lathes, mills, drill press) I was like "No way, I come here to get away from these things". LOL!! But really, I thought they were cool. Bret Michaels Rocked that place.

I've heard a lot of comments from people regarding prices but in reality $100 will get you drunk and a concert evening out back. People spend three times that at Disneyland.. I went to the old location right after the fire, they had a temporary bar set up and you could walk the grounds.
Is there a cover charge?
Not to get into the front, the bar and to watch the free band when we were there but to get in the back of the place in the paid concert venue. We didn't pay to go back there.

I may cruise out on my custom mopad. I worked on it three years. I customized a 65 Harley engine and extended the fork. I have a suicide clutch, and a low, one-rider seat. I will challenge Nappy or Franky James (:the owners) to a drag race thru a 1/4 mile. If I win, I get their pile of junk.
It a great place full throttle definitely worth it they need bring the underground rapper gwopgetterfresh there to do a show once

I've heard that as well. You'd think someone would be in prison by now if that happened but coming from a friend of mine who knows the crew, he says it's all legit.
Ballard was self insured and had no fire insurance on the original location.

My Pops didn't make it to Full Throttle. I went with two of my buddies. I did enjoy it. The AC/DC Tribute band Big Gun, was pretty good.

A lot. Don't remember the exact price on drinks but I do remember it's not cheap. Cool place to see, though...
Venture a guess, 10 bucks, maybe more if you call your scotch and don't want Cutty Sark. Went in 17 and it was about 6 bucks for a can of Coors Light!! Fuck that.
@@seththomas9105 I would not mind paying a little more, if there was a reason to go there! In the old days many of us went Laconia, Daytona, Redding pa etc! We went to see national, and world champions race! Now these places only have a bunch of dumb Neanderthals, standing around looking at chrome, or listening to that sickening Harley exhaust!
@@MrJimmy1437 Yeah, I and my buddies ride HD and Triumphs and when we go we go to the races in Rapid City and the hill climbs. Other than a bike show or something I don't ever see myself in the Full Throttle again. So much has changed since I first went in 1990. The cell phones and RUBS drive me nuts.

Not much is cheap in Sturgis during the rally. It's certainly not a deal on drinks or apparel. It is a cool place to experience. Thanks for watching...

Is the new one as overpriced and carnivalish as the old one?
While I think the place is incredible to look at and experience, it is overpriced but I think everywhere I've been is overpriced during the rally. One exception that I'm aware of...Drag Pipe Saloon and Campground across the street but not fancy like this one. Depends on what you like and thanks for watching.
More carnivalish and so fucking overpriced it's insulting. Will only go for a bike show or something. Same reason I will maybe only have one or two beers in downtown Sturgis anymore. People are getting tired of the "Fuck you give us money." attitude of the Rally. A lot of us aren't RUBS and even if we only go every 2-4 years it gets expensive if you go anywhere near Sturgis.

Had a great time seeing Rev. Heat in 05 at the old place. Old place was badly overpriced, the new place is egregious. "Fuck you, give me money' is there motto.
Very disappointed in the new Throttle! Not even close to the same feel as the old one. Even more of a money grubbing pit. I won’t be back.
I'm bummed I didn't get to see the original. I rode past it several times in 2015 and the line was so long I didn't stop. I have nothing to compare it to so for me I really like the industrial look. I will say that drinks across the way at Drag Pipe Saloon are only $3.00 per bottle so that's where we had a few drinks. Ride safely and thanks for watching.
Acoustics are horrible inside the main building...beer at $6 each is a bit greedy as far as I'm concerned. ..you don't want to get caught out there after dark..its a long way home 7 miles plus just back to the main highway..that's almost 20 miles from town..quess who the police are interested in when you come back that late..yep....you're it!
@@clarktferrill Totally get it. We were lucky because we stayed across the street at Drag Pipe but I did think about what you mentioned while coming in off a days ride as so many bikes were leaving Full Throttle. I figured the cops must be watching for that.
@@MotorcycleMonkey Yes...I came back thru town once..very late after midnight..Evey cop had someone pulled over ..lucky me they were busy..not that I would ride after drinking ..I usually wait at least an hour...but just don't want to go thru a shakedown...What I remember about one guy and gal that was pulled over..the gal was yelling obscenities at the cops explaining they just got pulled over two blocks ago...
