I've seen people access the tiny loft from outside and make storage for seasonal items in totes. Such as winter or summer clothes Christmas trees etc...
Yeah, I haven't figured out exactly what because we have such high humidity, I guess if the container was airtight then clothes would be a good option.
Yeah, I was thinking of those straps they use for mobile homes or something similiar. Hurricane season is COMING, and at only 25 miles from the Gulf I hope we have a slow season. lol
Anxious to follow your build as you make your place. Love those pines. I live amongst pines and the wind passing through them is the sound of home to me. For those fire ants I haven't found anything better than Ortho Orthene from Lowes (if you are not against using chemicals) ... it is a nasty substance but will put the hurt on those fire ants. Good luck with your camp !
I haven't done much to the cabin yet, got some outlet boxes installed where I want them, and fixing to do the wiring. Solar panel install is the next big project on my list, but so far have planted blackberries, blueberries, an apple and a satsuma tree. As fruit trees take the longest to bear, I'm trying to get as many in as possible, but since we had a drought last summer, and I'm not living there fulltime yet, I think I'll wait until fall to plant more. I hate using poison, but I'll consider anything to get rid of fire ants. lol
Yaupon Holly is EVERYWHERE here. The natives used the leaves for tea, but the berries will make you sick. The birds and deer love the berries. Keep up the great work.
I know a lady that sells yaupon tea, and I tried some after drinking a couple glasses of sweet tea and I though that I had taken speed or something. lol My hair was crawling and everything.
I got some planted in Jan, Feb, and March, and they are doing fine. The ones I planted a month ago are doing okay as well. I did the placing cardboard over the hole thing and then covering with mulch. So far so good, but I think that I'll wait until fall before planting anymore, besides I need to clear more land for them. lol
Good luck on your new homestead!
Thanks! It's a lot of work for a 63 year old, but I get excited doing it. lol

You might think about adding corner braces for hurricane season.

@@MississippiHomesteadJourney LOL it is not to be taken lightly
Plant your figs and fruit trees and blueberries in Feb or March next year. you can plant them and not loot at them again and they will be fine.
