Why Does The Airbus A380 Have Such A Good Safety Record?

- Why is the A380's safety record so good?
Well…The A380's impressive safety record is, in fact, partly down to its lack of customers - Since relatively few of these aircraft are flying or have flown over the years. - บันเทิง
I was waiting for you to say a little about the brilliant engineers who built this massive bird. 😂😂
He forgot the formula to work out percentiles!
Fr
He has some kind of American Boeing bias
Designed by White European Men that's why its so safe.
It is the best planes I ever flew in…….real comfortable flights.
This is unfair... You got to appreciate it's engineering and built for the perfect safety record

@@timehmalzeuzkeh7618because most of the time they are not😂. But I know what you mean!
@@TotallyNoAim what?
@@dafan-uv8vf the engines are not on full throttle all the time, only on takeoff
Couldn't be because its actually extremely well designed and built.
That, and the fact that very few airlines even fly it.
maybe the fact it went to customers in 2007 and is gonna be retired soon plays a role too.
@@ov10bronco9 They won't be retired until 2030 at the earliest.
@@fx-studio it also has barely any flights a day but ok
@@ov10bronco9 Emirates alone has over 100 in the fleet so that's plenty flights.
Look at the underbelly I always remark at how such a beast takes off at all. The centre fuel tank is bigger than a 2 car garage.
My grandfather helps make the landing gear for the A380 and for many of the military planes that the Air Force uses.
Very well engineered aircraft - I’m sure this contributes to its stellar safety record.
And the fact that it's often the flagship... flagplane of the airlines.
😉
Despite the Airbus A380 involved 2 engine failure incident, it's still one of the safest passenger airliner in the sky.
Having 4 engines is big plus in my book, if one fails you still have another 3 left, If one fails on a twin engine, well you do the math, ::) Apparently, a twin can fly on one engine, not sure how far though.
If i was flying over a ocean and there was an engine failure, I know which plane I'd want to be in. :)
@@RobG001a350 can fly 6hours on one engine
As of late, the A380 has been in demand and flights have been very frequent. So to say that its safety record is due to less flights may not be a factor anymore, at least in today's trend.
You should probably add a few more things, the four engines, or the highly experienced crews that operate the A380’s flights!
Those things too big
What about the great flight attendants?
Can you show a normalized record? Incidents/flown hours or sth?
You can't because A380 has zero fatal incident or haul loss, you can multiply it by 1000 and it's still zero. Lol 😂😂
I agree we can normalize all the incidents.
Another factor is, it’s with one of the most reputed airline
Lovely to travel on by far, next in line the A350.
A380 is the safest planes on earth
Another factor is it's huge wing sice since it was inted for bigger variants.
We really don't want an accident with this aircraft, too many people onboard. Last Tuesday I watched the boarding of a British airways A380 at gate E24 in Miami, a midsize City and a massive crew got on that plane.
Like your comment 😂😂
What also could contribute to that is that in my experience heavy weather or winds are much easier compensated becaise of the weight
Think of it like this, it takes two 777 to fill capacity of 1 a380. So obviously there’s less of them.
And the oen 380 costs more than the two 777s to operate lol.
Perfectly built and engineered
Operated by high end airlines
Not operated by Aeroflot
Good reason to continue A380
To all you 747 fanboys. After 2020 when the a380 had 13 years of service it had 0 hull losses and when the 747 reached 13 years it had 12 hull losses.
Yet the 747 will still be airbone after the european abortion is little more than scrap metal because they cant pull revenue for their owners. Sorry bud but Airbus was only 30+ years late to the party and they grossly misread consumer / airline needs
i mean at the time it was in the 70's 80's
@@WaterWaver-fy8de And airbus were still forming. Best comparison with the a380 is the 747-8 and not the whole series because the -400 was by far the most popular and became irrelevant when the a380 came hence the upgrade
All modern planes are safe (unless it's Boeing with their fatal design of the MAX) because the performance envelope for conventional airplanes is a solved problem. All that is left to do is squeeze more efficiency out of the engines and wings. All these factors mentioned in this video about fewer take offs and operators is just a proxy for saying there haven't been as many opportunities for pilot error to occur.
Plane in general: we ARE very SAFE.
What is your mortality rate per accident: 100%
Actually I'm accidents on aircraft drying in it it still very low
It’s also technological masterpiece
747: huh yeah doesn’t make you the best! 😒
#3 only big airlines can even think about operating an A380; and those usually have better maintenance than some South American or Central African regional airline.
Because Airbus builds good airplane
Bring the A380 back! 🎉
The engineers knew that if that thing crashed, half of the worlds population would dissapear 💀 (This is a joke)
How many A380s and how long has it been in service?
0 : because made by highly skilled engineers...
A 380 is a beat of engineering. I doubt we have seen the last of it.
Flew once with BA great plane ❤
The queen of the sky is good looking but for me my favorite is a380
What about the A380 of Qantas with the engine blowing up because of oil disk fracture there's one upside to that A380 that it didn't crash and everyone survived
I love a380❤❤❤
Richest countries have the A-380 !
I remember the days when Boeing had the most reliable, safest planes and Airbus was pretty 'meh.' Boy, have the tables turned!!! Nice work, Airbus team and all the crews that keep 'em going!
Because there’s about 10 flights a day using A380’s…
You didn't cover QF32
Team airbus❤❤❤
The Concorde was one of the safest keys in the world… until, suddenly, it wasn’t.
It still was. The air france accident was 99% on the crew and 1% air france ground services which lead to the crash.
@@raymarshall6721not at all. Accident was due to a piece a metal lost on the tarmac from a previous plane. This foreign material perforated one of fuel tank. The leaking fuel was then ignited by one engine in full power during take off.
@@alainmare8081they even found the guy who wrongly attached that metal piece on that DC10 engine and fired him. Like it was this guy's fault
You can’t really blame that on the Concorde. Cmon.

B747: The plane with the most amount of crashes but everybody wants it
who still buys B747?

I wonder if it helps that the most experienced pilots fly them.
So it’s about statistics, not about engineering
Biggest miscalculation in designing and developing such a colossal aircraft, and the Covid-19 pandemic did not help either.
Apart from *Qantas Flight 32* incident, The A380 is relevantly the Safest plane to fly.

There is something called the fatal 11 minutes when most aircraft crashes occur. They are the first 3 minutes and the the last 8 minutes of flight. A 380 spends very little time in this flight regime.

Less sell n less flight hours the reason fr that
Or it was built well.
Well I believe that's the lame reasons. Not considering the safety and reliability of mechanical and electrical systems.
Totally untrue, look how many fatal crash happened to b747 in the last 15-20 years of its production 😂 compared to A380 which has ZERO fatal crash
Didnt a qantas a380 suffer an wngine failure recently?Qantas flight 32
it was in 2009

#1 isn't really relevant if you look at proper statistics.
And also because its an Airbus not a Boeing .
whats wrong with boeing
Atm? Pretty much everything.
But the 787 hasn't crashed yet. And the 717 hasn't crashed yet. And several variants of other Boeing planes (737-600, 737-900, 747-8, 757-300, 767-400) haven't crashed yet.
American bias😊😊
😂 logic RIP

The safest is the Boeing 737 max because is lack of flying 😂😅😅

Reason #3: The A380 is just a very good and safe aircraft 😉
It's easy to have a good safety record when you never fly anywhere.

Wrong explanation
The 787 have a better record than the A380, it has way more take-off/landing cycles. But 0 accidents is still zero for all the top safe planes.
Boeing & Airbus needs to build a air freighter from the ground up to be the size of a A380. The developed world is marching to 1st world living standards, cargo ships haven't trended down in size so there will be an increase in demand for airmail.
The 747 is basically an air freighter built from the ground up. It was converted to be a passenger jet after TWA and Pan Am's delivery of Boeing's SuperSonic Transports were delayed (and eventually cancelled). The fact the 747 is such a great freighter is good news since it means it'll be in the sky for decades after the A380, albeit flying for cargo airlines.
The Boeing Dreamlifter perhaps?
#1 baby! Oh yeah! Also great vid
FAA is not their pockets
Easy. It's not boeing 737. 😂😂😂😂😂

The A380 is the worst aircraft ever designed and shouldn't exist. I'm not the only one with this opinion
just look at Emirates, the made the A380 actually profitable and didnt chicken out during lockdown
You wouldn't afford to fly if this nor the 747 never existed
Bro I think the A380 is the most overrated plane but still, really?
Utter garbage video. The A380 has flown since entry into service millions of flighthours and has tranported millions of people. The safety record is due the load of new technology and systems introduced like EHA/ EHBA and LHGS. On top of that, the A380 lands way slower than all other widebody in its class. (lands +/- speed of a 737)Lower landing speed translates into a safer landing. Airbus incorporated this into the A380 design together with massive brakes and spoilers.. Also new 2D volumetric radar, new avionics wit OIT and BTV/ ROPS/BUSS/ ACUTE systems increased safety. Each A380 has 25000 sensors which monitors everything. Even if there were 50 more operators the safety record would remain.
And the only two incidents on the A380 were engine failures, caused by only problems with the manufacturing of the engines. Also I agree with your point on the Lack of daily flights on the A380. Emirates alone has 86 active A380s
Facts
Really these machines are so well designed that the only weak point is the pilots.
It needs one Tenarife/TWA type accident (read total loss of life), and it will go the way of Concord(e).
That said, it is magnificent machine and a marvel of engineering.
@@davidlewis2626 yes but that can hardly happen nowadays if a pilot does more than only half his job
Because it didnt flight that much 😂
So, it's technically not the safest, because ruling out the fact it's not used often should be the key role in a deciding factor of what makes it safe or not. If I win 2 games of professional pool and lose 1, it doesn't make me a good player, I only played 3 times, you can't tell.
The best safety record holds the Boeing Space capsule, which will never fly people :rofl
Even though qantas almost crashed over Indonesia and Singapore ! Bad engineering ! They were almost doomed !
