    I’ve made so many pinch pleated drapes or curtains. Even when they weren’t in style I still had them in my house. Love them.

    Oh my gosh! You have demystified pinch pleat curtains for me! I never attempted because I thought it was over my sewing expertise! Thank you once again for being such a wonderful teacher! 💕

    I know how to do it. Because I learned how in Home EC. You are not clear on how to do your pinch, I would think it is not clear for the beginner for sure. You did do a good job on your own.

    Thank you for sharing this! I’m new here, I just bought linen for drapes for our bedroom, and found your video after searching how to make drapes like this. Your home is so lovely, I love the warmth and texture with the antiques and the soft fabrics, so beautiful! The music is great, too.

    Sarah: The drapes are so pretty. I can recall helping my mother make pinch pleat drapes, many years ago. I agree with you regarding lining the drapes. They will hang better and look more high end. 👍!

    Wonderful!
    Can you please tell me what was the width before and after pleating?
    I want to order curtains online and don't know what dimensions I should buy.
    The final width of the curtains after pleating should be 2.70m.
    Thank you!

    Ive always loved pinch pleat curtains. They are so absolutely beautiful in a room. I hope this style picks up because I’d really like to change mine out. I could sew but I’d rather not. There is some math to working this or you could end up with extra places for the hooks.

    Draperies look great. I just wanted to comment about framing your Grandfather's sheet music. I love that! My Grandma played the church organ for about 30 years. I bought a little gold organ for my charm bracelet to honor her. But now that I have seen your sheet music idea, I'm gonna frame her favorite hymn and hang it on my living room wall. I also took one plate from each of my Grandma's kitchens after they passed & wrote on the backs about how they shared love thru cooking for us & hung them in my kitchen. I love sentimental decor because it will never be just like your neighbors. Thks for the idea. 🙂

    Thank you Sarah! Watching all your videos! Thank you for making so many of them! Quick question, when you added the lining where did you sew them in! Just under the tape or did you take off the tape and redo that part. Thank you! PS I too remember helping my mom make these and taking them down to wash.

    • @SheHoldsDearly
      @SheHoldsDearly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up only stitching one seam to hold the tape down and catch the top edge of the lining.

  • @patmiller774
    @patmiller774 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was wondering if you knew about drapery weights for the hems. One type is like a chain (like on a light pull) that is placed all along the bottom of the hem. Another is a heavy piece of metal that is hand sewn at the top of the hem at the edges (for wide draperies, sew one also at inner vertical seams). Weights will help to define the pleats down to the floor, as will having a three or four inch doubled hem.

      @@lorrem2539 I think it looks awesome. And the fabric was beautiful. Looks like the window treatments were adaptable to a lot of beautiful situations. And I think her pinch pleats looked spot on. ☺️ The rods for that was just a suggestion for her at some point if she wanted to try. It’s a much more formal look. She may have wanted a more casual, farmhouse look. That was great too!😉

      You did a lovely job. And the pattern is very pretty complimenting the room. However I did not see any calculations regarding the amount of fabric the pleats consume and where they should be divided. Also there isn’t an explanation about the hem, which should come first (4” doubled) and the side hems are too thin. That’s why the sides stick out (unless you want to use weights). This is an oversimplification of the drapery process.
