Manlifts platforms flip over but but nobody is allowed to ride past the last floor, but they CAN ride to the basement and feel the platform drop out from under their feet.
Some of these paternosters had ceased operation then became staff only. I remember looking into these in Germany which many had stopped use. One of the buildings luckily was a court house and other government offices and the workers had several very solid points. This may seem odd however one of them was using the shaft for communication the other was the way it was used there in their specific application. To replace with a standard elevator(s) would be a major cost and impact the space on each floor. Another was the amount of people using it and how many at a time. For a standard elevator the wait time they showed would be enormous. It not only reopened but to the public and staff.
Many of these will have signs telling the passengers to get out at the last floor. Though you aren't really in any danger to do so other than it would be rather nerve racking .
Hopefully the countries that still have them will not get rid of them. Shame of paranoid countries that buy into the propaganda or allow irresponsible to get away with "being a victim".
This is what gets on my nerves about the crowd that says everything has to be foolproof vs safe. Elevators need only be safe while people need to be responsible and have common sense but that's too much to ask. Nothing will ever be foolproof because foolish behaving people love to evolve ways to get around all the safety features. Start making them responsible for their actions vs elevator companies and building owners.
Much accidents happened with paternosters in the past, but they aren't really dangerous in my opinion. Most of the accidents were caused by old, weak, or uncareful people.
Ladies and Gentleman, that's how you SAFELY ride a Paternoster! It's perfectly safe. Whether or not the people are safe is subject to change without notice.
All you have to do is stand against the wall until you are approaching the floor you need to de-board on and step down like stepping off a bus. If you are going up, step up when the landing is just about half a foot away.
Once again, I have to say to you Diesel…. You have quite some stones on you…. Although I doubt you would have rode it all the way to the top or bottom if you knew you were going to get flipped on your head
I don't think they are in buildings over 10 stories. It wouldn't make sense to have them is really high buildings because the travel time would be too long.
In my opinion, I would not ride this elevator there because it ain't got no door and getting on it while it moves is dangerous. But they are great elevators though.
Bicycles do not have doors but we don't fear riding on them. Cable cars don't have doors but we don't fear riding them. The trains at some amusement parks don't have doors and yet people ride them all the time.
We have lot of them in Prague!
I love that Prague is not paranoid like the USA...........
I’ve heard. Would love to see more
Do they have jobs that Americans can be hired for, or do they hate us?
Glad to see the floor you stand on stays level at both ends of the shaft instead of flipping over. Great video.

Yes! Thank you!
I remembered seeing a video of this
Awesome
Well, this is surprising I never heard of an elevator only used for staff only that’s really weird however, the video is very nice

Thanks
Wow that was cool. That was nice of the Manager for letting you do that.
I know, right?
it sounds like a old 1920s curio cabinet would while carrying it its very creeky but your videos i think have the best audio of one of these
I love it. And thanks. I use a Shure MV88+ mic
these things look very neat! :)
I think so too!
Do they have safety indicators for if someone puts something between the floor and the car?
Not sure
It is very cool especially how it reverses when it gets to the bottom and top but it might scare me if I rode one of those in person

They are quite fun
I love Tropicanas orange juice I drink it every morning for breakfast that hotel will forever have a special place in all of our hearts ❤
Off topic.
When will you do a elevators in Roanoke for all garages?
He did it already
Maybe later this year or early next year.
I wonder how many staff members actually ride that!
A lot
These are becoming rare nowadays
I know it’s a shame

Yeah I know they are dangerous but they were really popular in 1977
They are.
Nice elevator
Thanks
Very cool!!
It was amazing
Never Seen A Elevator Like This.
Are they easy to ride?
VERY easy.
Never Seen A Elevator Like This
They are in Europe
Very weird setup for these but nothing but a smooth and fun ride
It was awesome
Nice
Thanks
Nice elevators!
Are Paternosters dangerous?
Just curious! Not that I would be scared to ride those!
Much accidents happened with paternosters in the past, but they aren't really dangerous in my opinion. Most of the accidents were caused by old, weak, or uncareful people.
@@DSDutchElevators gotcha!
It has sensors nowadays so it will stop in case of emergency situation
@@ondraczskgotcha!
That depends on who you ask and/or how people conduct themselves when using them.
Ladies and Gentleman, that's how you SAFELY ride a Paternoster! It's perfectly safe. Whether or not the people are safe is subject to change without notice.
These are not dangerous at all when common sense is used
@@DieselDucy Apparently, however; a lot of people don't seem to have any when posting comments about this vertical transport.
That’s a scary elevator and it would trip and fall.
Scary comment.
It is actually quite safe.
This is scary elevator
Scary comment....
Actually quite safe
I wouldn't feel safe riding one of those since it has no door and doesn't stop.

Totally safe with common sense.
Paternosters are interesting if you are not from Europe, but imagine if America has paternosters in their building!
that paternoster looks great.
That would be really cool Jay!
We'd be used to them..........
Yeah and even over there becoming rare.
@@DieselDucy The are catching the "America" virus and becoming wimps!
There's also one in the parliament.
Cool

@@nexpar7439 At the very slow speeds they travel, yes!!
Exactly.
It’s a Bottom Drive.
i am not sure.

No door period
