Can't stop watching this or hearing it in my head, & it's renewed my appreciation/love for Sparks & FF, both amongst the greatest rock acts ever! Thanks, too, to BBC for adding the lyrics - reminds me of the Sparks song, Now That I Own the BBC, & how great the video for that is. On this one, I love that Alex K of FF, who used to move in ways so hip, is now at age 44 dancing like a goofy dad! Which is how it should be...And Ron Maels at age 70 is still the coolest, oddest guy ever to grace a stage
Russell's falsetto is gorgeous, but I have a special love for songs like this where he was able to use his chest voice as well as head voice, what Ron calls "crooner" singing. It's amazing how Russell's voice is still just as strong, flexible, and beautiful as when he was in his twenties. He has really cared for it well.
Ron does mix it up occasionally. He does the Ron shuffle, pretends to sing on 'I cant believe you fell for all the crap in this song's, walks around the stage with a young lady on his arm (I wish) on 'ugly guys with beautiful girls' and probably other things as well.
Alex has a fine voice but hearing them both together shows that Russell Mael is impossible to beat. He can go from falsetto to tenor without missing a beat. A much underrated and truly phenomenal singer.
Impressed by Alex from FF doing a good falsetto in My Way, and great new song. Scanning the crowd, what I fail to understand is why noone is apparently consuming alcohol or smoking anything. I gather even at rock concerts now people are searched since apparently booze is banned. How weird is that? Not having been to Glastonbury since the 90s, No idea how it is now, but when last there, staying up banging an upturned boat like a drum til sunrise, open drug use and full nudity made it a Festival.
At that time, not yet. Ron was born 14 August 1945, Russell 5 October 1948. Believe it or not. Especially as their 2020 year looks ahead... New album in May, Edgar Wright's documentary about Sparks, TOUR in Europe October, and last, but not least their musical movie 'Annette', staring Adam Driver and Marion Cottilard, directed by Leos Carax. The year of their 75th and 72nd birthdays. I'm humble before them. 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 🥰
@@annabackman3028 Hi Anna , I couldn;t agree more , am kept up to date as I get regular emails from them , - from the Sparks Maeling list .(was on their old website) Their back catalogue if fantastic , and even have the 2 Half Nelon Albums on Bearsville . I hoped I could have gone to the 21 Alums in 21 nights but never got there - shame . They seem to have transcended age , and def. don't just plough out repetitive Music , always on Point , and current , Hats off to a Fab Band 👏❤👍
@@antonybanyer3364, If my situation had been as today, and I had been aware of the 21x21, I had been the first to have a ticket for all shows 🙄. I'm so greatful to them who put videos from those shows on TH-cam so we can have a moment to enjoy what we missed 🥰. But now we have the tour in October to look forward to 😆😁, and I won't miss that one, got tickets! Took the oppertunity to buy at the pre-release you had access to, when pre-ordering the new album 😊. I don't think the Americans have to worry, the thought of them NOT playing there is absurd. A Christmas tour maybe? Or whenever they can squeeze it in in their program. I don't like the new website, as it is today. I want a COMPLETE list of albums and everything they have released, with information about where and when, CD / vinyl, who the other musicians are AND LYRICS. Info about, and the stories behind, the documentary, the movie 'Annette' and 'The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman' wouldn't hurt. I have no idea how it looks on their FB site, I don't have FB (! Yes, there are such kind of people! 😁), but that's the sort of information I believe is what you could expect to find on a band's website 🤨. On the other side, the old site wasn't well kept, no proper updating, they use other media to communicate. But that should be an even greater reason to have such information, and the history of the band told with their first hand words, on the website. That would be a one time job to accomplish, after that only to update what's coming. Anyway, they are the greatest! 💕❤️💗💖🥰 PS. To tell the stories behind everything would be an excellent mission for Russell. He seems to have a very good hand with writing entertainingly. His words on the anniversary editions of 'Kimono My House', 'No 1 In Heaven' and latest 'Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins' is a joy to read, filled with a very subtle humor. In my opinion. 💖
Idk he still looks slim and healthy, still sounds good, at 72 (67ish here) everybody looks pretty old don't they unless you're very lucky or you have cosmetic surgery lol
Lol, what??? Russell here is almost seventy years old and still able to front hours-long rock performances with a much younger band, and he does it with charisma, tireless energy, and a voice that sounds just as good as it did when he was twenty-five. Lookswise, he looks damned fine for his age. Handsomest septuagenarian I've ever seen. :)
My brain is exploding. This is the best collaboration ever in the history of collaborations...

Thanks!
I found this when randomly going through Now!
Amazing that Sparks have various different songs throughout the decades...

"Sign your name with an X and mow the lawn" 😂 😂 😂
I wouldn't exactly call it embarassing-he seemed to be having a ball
Two great baritone voices blending together on this forgotten hit of the 90s. And Ron still cracks me up!
Russell a baritone? OMG ... Russell's voice is a pure tenor ....
@@100Singers , exquisite tenor! And a lovely clean falsetto too.
I don't remember making this comment-I'M rojina aktar

you mean no alcohol no drugs?
@@Ami483 , and no smoking. Drugs, alcohol, and smoking are all hell on a singing voice.
This is so good. Why are they so underrated?😩😩
Ron has done the same act for over 40 years ........... and he is brilliant
GENIUS
the pair of them and with the FF hook up even better
Ron does mix it up occasionally. He does the Ron shuffle, pretends to sing on 'I cant believe you fell for all the crap in this song's, walks around the stage with a young lady on his arm (I wish) on 'ugly guys with beautiful girls' and probably other things as well.
It's always wonderful when an artist pays homage to wonderful art done by someone else.
I just saw them (Sparks) live in Copenhagen, Denmark a week ago... and they were absolutely brilliant! Still got it! Never lost it...
Saw them in Stockholm the 16th /June (2018) 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍
Fantastic ...and I love the 'Edwyn Collins' scratchy guitar too!

More bands should do collaborations like this.

Love it!
What a match - FFS are a supreme collaboration !!!
Collaborations don't work, probably the best track on the FFS album
@@NoxiousRob At my age , I know 100% collaborations can work - agreed not all but some have ended as classics !!
As live goes this is brilliant, very professional.
