  • The Seadoo GSX Limited 951cc has been on my bucket list of classic jetskis to find, since the very beginning. I have seen so many come up over the years, but always falling short of the checklist of things I look for, one being super low hours.
    As far as classic Seadoos go, it doesn’t get much better than this. This ski has 37 hours from new, it is pristine cosmetic condition, with it all being completely OEM, no aftermarket mods, all the original paperwork, including the original purchase receipt.
    Watch along as I get my hands on a Seadoo that I have been chasing for over 3 years...this marks the 7th ski to add to the collection, and for all the carb fans, you finally got your wish, I have a 951cc with a carb not the Di!
    Thanks for watching and supporting guys... Please consider hitting the subscribe button.
    ‘Let’s keep the classics alive’. Enjoy the episode.

    I’ve been watching Seadoo videos on TH-cam for a few years now. You just came across my feed this morning. Excellent video. Great production quality. I recently started my channel, and have realized that the video and editing takes more work than fixing the ski does 😂. Keep up the great work. You gained two new subs today. ~Josh Nine Finger Wrenching

    Swap out the oil tank for a 96 or 97 model GTX oil tank as they are seamless and wont leak oil. That ski is mint, wish I still had mine!

      This made me chuckle as this is one of the first things I did... The only thing about the seamless as whilst they sit onto the fuel tank there not quite as good a fit as the seamed ones... Worth it though vs oil leaks. Thanks for watching and appreciating this classic✌

    We just got one yesterday same model and year with a trailer. A guy paid us to remove it and it has done less than 10 hours. He bought it in 1999, rode it twice and never had time to use it again. It’s an absolute beauty, it has no damage and looks like brand new.

    Nice channel. I appreciate the 90s Sea Doo love. One of my first restorations was a 99 GSX Limited with 150 hard hours on it. Was a fun flip. Since then a 99 XPL, 98 GTXL, 96 XP787 and just this weekend i finally picked up the one i always wanted since i was a teen. The 98 GSXL with the red on red hull in incredible shape for only $800! Absolute steal. Im big on keeping it original but man a 98 GSXL with all the purple switched to black is probably the sexiest looking SeaDoo they would have ever made. Sometimes the factory gets it wrong lol.
    Anyways, I appreciate what u do and dont pay no mind to the talentless trolls with no mechanical skills whatsoever whos buddy said this or that about Sea Doos being junk lol… so pathetic 🤦🏼‍♂️. Keep doing ur thing.

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks dude really appreciate the love and support! Dude what a list you have had and worked on... the 99 XPL is a great ski and a lot of people argue is the sweet spot for the 4th gen XP... also lucky boy the XP 96, those hulls are so loved in the community. The question is how do you ever let them go... that's gunna be my problem eventually I'm running out of room fast... I'm thinking of switching to putting all skis on showroom dollys and then keep 1 or 2 good trailers to switch as and when I want to ride each...
      The 98 GSXL is also as much as it pains me to say as I bought this 99 GSXL is also my fav colours, I actually love the red and purple combo...however I do like the decals more on the 99...either way when they are as clean as this one I just couldn't say no... 37 original hours is dream stuff (for me at least).
      I would love to see some of your restores dude.
      Also thanks for the backing and supporting, the junk comment is mad to me but luckily I've got a good bunch of subs that get my passion and what I'm trying to do, thanks for stopping by & watching 🙌🙌👍👍

      The 951 is def not the most friendly motor, when compared to the 717 or 787. Massive power in the hole tho, and tons of fun especially jumping waves. I'll probably keep my 96 SPX forever, just can't really imagine selling it. Bought it for 1500us and have put about 800 into it, restoring to original MPEM drive shaft oem impeller and carbon seal. Oh and rebuilt the pump with new seals and bearings since I had it off. Love the x4 its ridiculously fun to throw around. Cheers

      @@classicjetskis Sounds like an XP. Here in the states the Xp 800 is widely considered to be the best ski ever produced. My 96 spx is the same everything as 95 xp 717, just different graphics and colors. I chose the 717 because I didn't want to worry about rave valves, and can run tcw3 oil instead of the more expensive amsoil or interceptor.
      Plus I'm 150lbs so can get up to abt 54 mph on the spx, and I'm cool with that. Cheers

      @@user-ej1bq4bq2w Yep your bang on dude...Its the 1995 xp 717, which is still the x4 hull but with the rear pump extension. The 1995 xp800 was launched later in 1995 i believe so Seadoo could race it, I think they had manufacture and produce it to race it, so they released the xp800 late in 95 hence why they are so rare... anyway I wanted the OG 717 as its the first using the X4 hull so in my book its the OG 3rd gen xp model.... The 1996 SPX yes its essentially the 1995 xp 717 but came packaged in the blue/green colour...I remember it so well as it was in that 'Speed out of control' cruise ship movie... actually really love the colour of the 1996 spx but for me I think if your talking spx's you have to go for the later 1997 to 1999 as they had the 800 and were essentially the xp800 1996...In 1997 the xp switched to the 4th gen spring seat design... I want a 1999 spx as it has the hump seat like the OG 1995 xp800. I actually prefer the 1996 xp800 to the 1995 xp800 as it has the mirror pods...

    I love mine, but its not as clean as this one... I've done my fair share of gel coat polishing and other stuff to make it look better. I even see you've even got GC-Extreme commenting!
    The oil in the bottom you may want to check the oil tank. They are notorious for cracking at the midline seam and leak from there. So they will hold 1/2 a tank but leak out anymore than that. Hardly any baconing on the mats either.
    Edit: Nevermind, you talked about the tank crack at the end of the video. Did I miss it or how many hours are on it?

      Have you used ceramic wax, it's a game changer, use that and then a high buff microfiber...that will make the shine pop!,Thanks for watching though dude, I'm really pleased with this find...yes it did have a few things to sort...and so funny but you're spot on with the oil tank, it was exactly that...where the tank joins it was leaking, I took the tank out, cleared out the joining channel and rebonded it...which stopped the leak...no more oil in the bottom...The fuel gauge had been glued stopping it turning, I replaced that, battery was replaced and we are now rocking and rolling! Yes the mats are perfect apart from the back...(the back are the easiest to bond back down as you have more access under them)... ride video coming soon dude.

    Why are those fire extinguishers banned?

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe it is something to do with plastic valves, there was a recall on all old years... from what Seadoo dealers told me... the thing is though for me I love finding examples with the original extinguishers as the rarity factor is so high now... most original extinguishers are either lost or recalled... I never use them, they sit in storage and now carry industry standard safe ones on the skis I ride vs originals... this GSX had the original though from 1999... I have seen original extinguishers be sold for £250 alone on ebay as they are collector pieces now. Thanks for watching dude

    • @thomaspaccione7214
      @thomaspaccione7214 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure if they were part of the Kidde recall, however, I think I have 3 of them sitting in my garage. I had to replace them all this past summer, because the USCG changed the rules when it comes to extinguishers. The new ones have date stamps on the bottom, they now expire 12 years from that date. Any extinguisher that does not have a date is considered expired. Im in the middle of trying to resurrect a 97 GSX which also came with the origional when I picked it up.

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry for slow reply dude, that was what I have been told by all UK dealers about the 90s extinguishers... I think to be fair as with anything ancillary part that can easily be changes, thats that old, it just makes good sense to replace to modern spec... I think keeping the old extinguishers in storage as a time piece is more powerful than using it anyway as once its used its used. Its the same sort of thing as, I have original XPS branding spray/oil from the 90s that I will never use/likely degraded but just cool as hell to have the original. Good luck with the GSX restore and yeh I would put the original extinguishers to one side and run a modern spec one. Thanks again for watching ✌

      It's widely accepted that you should not charge whilst connected to the ski, its even outlined in the original Seadoo's owner manual... just because you may get away with it a handful of times, doesn't make it ok... There is a reason after all there are skis like this example in my video still going strong, its the small details of maintaining these skis that stand the test of time... Lets just say someone watching this video has an older trickle charger... I say 'yeh its fine to charge connected to the ski' and then damage occurs... this would not be great advise... in any case your whole argument is likely predicated on the basis of laziness to take 5 mins to disconnect the battery, remove it from the ski... which again if you're experienced, would also know for general safety reasons, its far safer to charge the battery out of the hull...
