    Thank you! I hit subscribe. This has been the main reason I've avoided buses for years. I could never figure out how to send instruments to the same bus without losing the ability to keep the tracks panned. You should see how many effects I've been using on each individual instrument 😭

    Thanks for this since this helped a lot because I was trying to print the master and stems inside the project and the volume on those came way loud due to the send knobs turned all the way, I have been trying to understand why but your explanation above finally made it clear.
    Let's say the volume fader of a track is at unity gain= 0db and you want to send that to an aux from where you will print it to an audio track (by making the input of the audio track as the aux number) then the send knob in general in Logic is confusing since when turning the knob all over (sending the whole signal to aux) actually sends more than the 0db your fader is at (it sends the max limit=+6db). The above explanation of send on faders function at 7:47 clearly shows this and clarified why my stems and master prints were way louder and clipping.
    Thanks:)

    Panning the send would be good if you wanted to put the effect on one side and the dry part on the other like Eddie Van Halen's guitar on the first album

    • @paul2open
      @paul2open 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's what I hoped you would cover specifically. Dry guitar one way and reverb the other. It must be a common need. How exactly do you do that?

    When would you introduce delay or reverb or using one main vocal buss but you want different levels of reverb or delays but want to use the same main vocal buss can you put the send on the individual track and it routes to the vocal buss after the send is on the individual track?

  • @mariomarcos2148

    I know this video is old but can someone explain somethings to me
    1. I like to use delay, reverb, fresh air/limiter, on buses should I do what this guy did for all of them and make their own tracks routed to a new send after making the track, or just make new tracks for them each,
    2. Do they have to be prepared fader if I do

  • @drbassface

    Can’t you just Pan your Aux verb to where you want it?

  • @MatsBP
    @MatsBP 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Question! When using (Pre Fader) mode when sending out to an AUX track, does that then bypass whatever plugins you might have on the track you're sending from? Meaning, you'll sending the raw signal to the AUX track?

  • @aaronthomas7790

    Great as usual. Is there a general rule for when to use a send vs. adding an effect to the instrument channel itself? I've been using send only when I want to use the same effect for multiple instruments to ease processing a little bit but should you always use sends for certain plug-in types and not others? Even Logic's own software instruments seem to do this inconsistently. Thanks.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always do it, except when I'm adding reverb or other TBE directly to a synthesizer, where the TBE is part of the sound design of the instrument -- and occasionally a guitar solo/lead. Otherwise I always use sends for TBE's.

  • @evanphillips2155
    @evanphillips2155 ปีที่แล้ว

    why does the send get routed out to a buss and not just an aux track?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Think of the "bus" as a digital pathway for audio to travel. In mixing consoles and other analog gear, the bus is a physical wire that attaches the channel send to another track. So the signal is being sent to an aux track, but the bus is carrying the signal.

  • @iamadz1

    How does this work with mono vs stereo. For example, I have a single channel stereo guitar track that is panned left. Would it be better to use the post fader setting?

    Really good video! I would use Stereo Pan though instead of Balance Pan when using stereo channels. The default is balance (you have 2 signals in stereo, and if you hard pan to the left side you will lose the right signal entirely). You can right click on the pan knob and select "Stereo Pan" instead. See and listen to what will happen now when you pan!

    Hi! Thanks a lot for the great content! I wonder how I could bypass the fader but affect the pan. Somentimes when my aux channels have compressor, I would prefer thar they wouldn't be affected by the fader changes that I do on the main channel, but I would like to keep the panning information from the main channel still affecting the aux track. Can you help me with that? Thank you so much!

    Got a question sir. If i choose ‘post fader sends’ or ‘post pan sends’ and i solo out the wet signal, it makes no sound. It only works when i choose ‘pre fader sends’ to hear the sound of dry and wet signal separately. Why is this happening?

    Is this the process to add a guitar panned to one side, to pan the reverb of that guitar to the other side for a fuller sound? Sounds like it could be used for that.

    Thanks for the tutorial. What I don't understand how to do is how can I export all my tracks (make a trackout) with all the processing happening on the sends? Because when you make an all audio tracks export what you get is a dry signal. Whick is totally frustrating(( Please, help!

  • @MDOTDASUPA
    @MDOTDASUPA 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MusicTechHelpGuy would you mind doing a video on the different pan modes that were added into Logic Pro X 10.4.2 and up. I noticed there are a few options when you right click on the pan knob. I’m not certain but I believe Logic has the pan knob default set to balance control instead of a directional pan.

    For some reasons I get a delay on my vocals when I route them to an AUX track. How can I fix that issue?
    I tried to use the low latency mode but it doesn't help at all.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It might be the plug-in you're trying to use on the aux track. Is the delay there when you bypass the plug-in? If not, it's definitely the plug-in causing it. If so, bump your buffer size in your preferences all the way up.
