Kip Winger is a Grammy nominated musician, best known for fronting the band Winger. His big break came when he was the bass player for Alice Cooper. He subsequently left the band to start Winger and the rest is history. The band has a new album out May 5th titled “Seven.” We discuss the new album, potential set list, why he left Alice Cooper’s band and so much more! Fun episode!!!

Kip Winger will never let you down. Everything he releases is magic. Love Winger and Kip's solo stuff and even got into Blackwood Creek with his bro. Iv is an incredible album and if Seven if half as good as that then I'll be happy.

I've been a huge Winger fan since I was a teenager. I have been blessed to see Winger probably 20x and in many different Venues acoustic sets clubs all I can say is Winger always sounds amazing. They never seem to age vocally or musically it's like perfection. Met Kip at least twice what a great down to earth guy just amazing to us fans! Can't wait for the new album!

Another fantastic interview, great job man. I really enjoy Kip's music whether he's solo or with Winger. He's off the charts talented and I think their albums are progressively getting better as they go on. A great group of exceptionally talented musicians.

Great interview! Kip is such a multi-talented musician and to me and I know to many others, him and his band will always be considered underrated, even though they're probably the most talented band that come from that era. The amazing music they continue to put out shows that. Interesting He was talking about the song spell I'm under which can't be too easy for him considering it's about his late wife.

I thought the interview with Kip went great. I had always wanted to know where Winger filmed the Down Incognito video. I went through message boards a long time ago, and I couldn't get an answer. They filmed the video at Mission San José de Tumacácori in Arizona. Thanks to this podcast, I was able to find out. It seems like it is a very intersting place to visit. I've visited quite a few missions in California.
Chuck does a great job with his interviews. I would love to see Chuck interview guitarist Craig Chaquico.

So maybe I'm wrong but I definitely feel like I'm getting vibe from Kips tone and answers to some questions that he is just irritated with the interviewer...
It’s possible… but I’ve done over 400 of these and I didn’t get that vibe from him. Definitely others but not this one. If I remember correctly he started off a bit closed and then opened up quite a bit towards the end.
I don't believe Kip when he says he's "shy".
He looks like a true alpha wolf.
Haha I think there are different versions of shy… with crowds and parties some people thrive on that. He can in a concert or structured setting obviously
Metallica kinda screwed Winger's career, and they are way better musicians than Metallica although I loved Metallica in the 80s more than any other band, they were just doing something completely new and heavier and more aggressive than anything around at the time but I'll admit it Winger were better musicians, Cliff Burton was the only real musician in Metallica.
