Fantastic interview! So cool that Kip still has the letter and was cool to see Alan reading what he had written so intently.

Alan's a humble legend,I wonder if he realizes how much of a impact he had on the music world and people with his brilliant gift , Edgar Allan Poe's work was beyond inspired, and so is Alan's

I believe there are so many of us who can hear the intro to Eye in the Sky and it immediately draws us into a memory. The first time I heard it I was at the Griffith Park Observatory and they played it during a laser show. I vividly recall turning to my dad and asking him what song it was. He told me Eye in the Sky and we listened to the vinyl when we got home. I still have the record. It's a cherished memory. Thank you Kip for doing this interview.

Great concept for a podcast Kip. Your musical IQ really comes out in these conversations. It makes for a more unique convo than the usual 'rockstar' conversations. Great job I'll be tuning in for more!

Very interesting conversation. Saw you both twice in Germany in 2013. First one with my friends in Seebronn at the Rock of ages festival. Remember you were headlining the festival and opened the concert with "Maybe a price to pay". Thought who is this fantastic singer? The concert was so great, that I drove a few days later with my wife to Erlangen. The BR-Radltour (a cycling tour in bavaria) made a halt in Erlangen. It was a free concert. And also the last Alan Parsons Live Project gig on this tour. Great memories. 🙂

I enjoyed this so much! It’s rare and fascinating to hear what goes on in the mind of an artist, behind the song, the painting, the dance etc. Alan Parsons is such a brilliant musician and as you summed it up- a really great dude. I’ll remember his Italy tour forever, what an experience…thank you Kip ☮️💟 Looking forward to your next interview!

I’ve always loved Alan Parson’s music since the 70’s and through all of the decades. Love this because I’ve never seen him interviewed and the bonus is, you’re the interviewer! It’s perfect because of your vast knowledge and experience of music and composition . Looking forward to more interviews.

I “discovered” APP in the 80s and I thought he was the singer. I have only come to realize that Alan Parsons was the producer when I became a studio musician. He has been an inspiration for many musicians/producers like myself.

To refer to one of the points here, Alan Parsons IS a very fine singer. His voice suits the "Project" style fabulously well, and it would have done the old Project albums no harm at all had he sung more often even back then. I've always imagined the Eve pair of songs of You Won't Be There and Winding Me Up sung at least for a good part by Alan.

  • @BrittniKayne

Great interview! I don’t know a lot about AP Project but I’ve been a Winger fan since I was a teen thanks to my mom’s old VHS recordings of 80’s MTV. I saw Kip’s acoustic show in Colorado a few years ago and was lucky enough to get to meet him and get a photo along with a couple of friends. I remember Kip seeming somewhat surprised that a few of us 20-something’s were there when the majority of concertgoers were from the previous generation. Good to know you were glad to see us there!! And I definitely plan on sharing your music now that I have a kiddo of my own. Off to see what Alan Parsons has done that I didn’t know was by Alan Parsons…

That was super interesting! First, I didn't know all of that about Alan Parsons, pretty amazing stuff. But also the idea that after you come up with your song idea, that you can tinker with switching around bridge/vs/chorus, tinker with the tempo, keys etc hit home with me. As I am delving back into my own RUSTY songwriting skills, I did that with first idea.. still am not satisfied b/c I hear it better in my mind.. cool to know that he does that. Also thought his heroes being producers was super interesting. Plus.. the abandoned song idea. Thanks for this, very informative & cool.

This conversation with Alan Parsons was much better than the recent Rick Beato interview. Thanks for asking all these interesting question! One day, somebody might ask Alan Parsons about declining to work on "Wish You Were Here". What a ballsy move that was. FWIW, some Alan Parsons Project songs are among my favourite songs and many of them are not just nice or entertaining but inspirational. I once, when I was very young, set up a make shift "quadrophonic" loudspeaker array (was just stereo but using two different kinds of loudspeaker pairs to get four in total), turned off the light and started listening to "The Fall of the Houase of Usher" in the dark. I did not last long, it became too scary and I had to turn the lights on. :)
