I LOVE the buckball episode, I love seeing fluttershy come out of her shell and really make herself known in a sport I feel like she's developed so much!
the name "ogres and oobliets" implies an oobliet was a thing at some point in the MLP verse, an oobliet was a dungeon were torture victims would be locked in a dungeon with no food or water to slowly rot, sometimes under public spaces so they could hear the normal humanity they would never get to experience again.
Ashleigh Ball and Andrea Libman both had fun playing their characters. Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are both great at buckball. I can't stop laughing at Fluttershy's angry facial expressions 🔥🔥🔥😡😡😡🤣🤣🤣
I kind of head cannon her as pale tbh, I know others who think of her as pale, I just find it odd but at the same time how interesting in what skin color pinkie would be tbh
*I mean she canonly uses an afro pick in Equestria girls and seen rapping in a hip-hop/RNB style (WITH A PRINCE OF BAL AIR REFERENCE) so it's pretty obvious she's black coded lmao*
I always have, I can't explain it but she's just afro-coded for me. Especially with her hair. I've seen people say she couldn't be because of her design and "white people have curly hair too" but I mean there's characters based on black people in the show who don't even have darker tone palettes or afro-hair, and there is literally a pale-toned Josephine Baker pony in the background of Dungeons and Discords so Pinkie's black or at least non-white.
"Dungeons & Discords" is one of my all time favorite Discord episodes! It was nice to see Discord hangout with Spike an Big Mac, It was also interesting that the mlp universe had it's own version of "D&D" IE Ogres & Oubliettes! In fact one of my favorite parts of the episode is when Discord literally makes the game real! Hell if it were me in that situation and I had to choose between playing the board game and experiencing the real thing, I'd take the real thing any day because the board game is fun but the real thing is much more exciting! As for "Buckball Season" it was intriguing to learn that Equestria had a ball related sport that was basically a mix between soccer and basketball! And of course it was awesome to see that Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy had major talent when it came to buckball, Though the amount of pressure that they were put under by AJ and RD wasn't cool. But the part where Fluttershy yells at them instantly became one of my favorite Fluttershy moments, Because this was one of those times where Fluttershy needed to say what was on her mind even if it was negative.
Strawberry Shortcake also had a D&D episode just a few weeks ago. It was pretty fun too, even if they don't have Discord's crazy magic. Speaking of which, it's funny how in this episode they're playing with a fake magical map of a fake fantasy land on top of a real magical map of a real fantasy land. It's just like that episode where Twilight becomes a superhero and she's actually *less* powerful than she is normally.
Another one of my favourite episodes of season 6 I really enjoyed seeing the guys getting a shine for once and it made realise how much I love Spike, Big Mac and Discord as a trio.
i love the dungeons and discord episode! it always made me so happy to see into the hobbies and lives of ponies and creatures who ARENT the mane six because sometimes they just get a tad predictable so its nice to switch things up once in awhile! but i love the inclusion of a pinkie and dash DnD designs! dash being presumably a rogue (because speed and trickery is a big thing for rogues since they basically are tricksters) and pinkie being a bard (charm and music are a major thing for bards) makes so much sense and fits so well with their personalities!
I think the game he was talking about is Funnel Ball. There's a funnel on top of a pole, and you toss the ball in, and you get points depending on which opening it comes out.
“Buckball Season.” (18:55) While the role reversal on Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie role is hilarious, it also provided Snails a time to shine. He has a knack in the sport!
IMHO, Dungeons&Discords is a deceptively important episode... because it's actually a key part of Discord's redemption. I mean. At this stage, Discord's moved away from outright supervillainy, and openly cares about Fluttershy and maybe some other people, but he's still a jerk, a bully, and frankly full of himself. That moment when he realizes Spike and Big Mac were acting out of PITY for him? Is actually important because of how it deflates his ego.

Oh man I forgot about these episodes. They're so much fun to watch and I love the details the animators put in. I love seeing characters have hobbies and maintain relationships outside of dire end of the world stuff. Also that Josephine Baker pony design in Dungeons and Discords is one of my favourite celebrity cameos, especially with the banana cutie mark lmao.

idk if the chatter who said magic color is cosmetic missed a detail about it that you noticed- they use a color that's already on the pony! for example, Twilight has pink in her mane and on her cutie mark, matching her magic, Rarity has blue eyes and blue in her cutie mark which match her magic color- Sweetie Belle, Rarity's little sister, has green magic, which matches her eyes-! TL;DR magic color is connected to colors in a pony's eyes, cutie mark, or hair (or a combination) EDIT: pinkie being black is a common headcanon, lol

So, back in high school, when the buckball episode came out, i remember a friend of mine had said something about the way Applejack and Rainbow Dash looked with their messy hair (at 20:36) was almost sorta implying that those two were just recently "making out" behind the bleachers; I also remembered giving him this squinty-eyed, one raised eyebrow look as a result as if saying "You being serious right now....!?".
Usually a unicorn’s magic color matches the color of their eyes. Sunset Shimmer= turquoise Rarity = blue Sweetie belle = green Trixie = lavender/pink but not always though of course twilight (eyes are purple, magic is pink) celestia (magic is gold, eyes are pink) cadence (magic is blue, eyes are purple)
as a character designer, my take is that given that MLP doesn't have any lore that states certain colors mean certain things, it just makes sense to keep the magic as one of the colors in a character's color palette, and it's probably whatever color they feel represents that character best without being the same color as the body/fur (or it would blend in with the horn, which wouldn't look as good). the mlp designers probably didn't have a written rule that says "make the magic match the eye color or their cutie mark", it just happens to be that way because each character has an assigned limited palette, so it's gonna most likely by nature be their eye color or one of the colors they picked for the cutie mark because those are the non-body colors that would stand out and were also picked as colors that represent that character.
Pinkie literally comes from an Amish-coded family and her hair goes poofy from being naturally straight. The zebras are the black-coded characters, there just aren't enough of them. I always wanted to see more zebras and learn more about Zecora's backstory, but they messed it up in the "season 10" comics.
I think Zebras are more like specific african tribes rather than the only "black coded" characters. Because we have ponies in G5 like Misty who has afro textured hair despite being a pony and not a zebra. I personally think Pinkie might be mixed. Albeit rare, black amish people do exist, and I think Pinkie's father might be one since his coat color is pretty dark too. Pinkie's mother though seems to be white amish (with blue eyes).
@@tiny2315 Firstly, I wanna be clear that this "race-coded" stuff for fantasy species is a murky fandom thing, and anyone should be able to relate to the characters anyway, but to respond to your counterpoints: G5 has no baring on G4, despite the shared continuity. The execs wanted G5 to be "more urban," which is racist exec speak for "make more characters US-minority coded." They weren't trying to do that in G4. In G4, it was primarily a fantasy setting in a traditional sense. Even though they had some electronic technology, nations were still largely separated by species, and bringing the different cultures together was part of the plot in later seasons. Zebras are black-coded because they are like African tribes, where black people actually come from. Equestria doesn't start as a US melting pot analogue entirely, but becomes one as they open their borders over time. Seems like a pro-immigration message.
@@Fourger14 Assuming black people would only be zebras (another species) when indian and east asian people would be the same pony species (Saffron and Mistmane) is not a good look for you y’know. I had Misty as an example of a pony being black coded, but it’s not only G5 which has afro textured mane ponies. Pretty sure one of Sapphire Shores’ dancers had an afro too. Zebras are akin to african tribes, nothing more. Just like how yaks are akin to vikings.. But what you mean is like saying white people could only be yaks because yaks are viking-coded. Point is, since black amish people exist and have existed, it’s not unrealistic to Headcanon Pinkie as possibly half black and still be Amish. I personally view all ponies as racially ambiguous, but with different skin tones depending on their coat color.
@@tiny2315 I wrote a long response and then TH-cam refreshed and deleted the whole thing so eff typing it all again, you get a summary: Your cancel culture language is cringe. Stop implying people are racist for not sharing your opinions about cartoon horses, & I share your opinion about cartoon horses. I was sleep deprived when I wrote those last two comments and hadn't thought through all the G4 examples of weirdly inconsistent race-coding across the fictional species. Next time, don't assume someone is racist when having this kind of conversation and this could have been a pleasant, "oh yeah, you're right!" And next time you want to be a jerk and call someone a racist, go ahead and say it instead of condescendingly implying it like you're everybody's dad. Lastly, why would I care and be angry at the G5 execs for using disgusting language like "more urban" if I was racist? Ridiculous.
I don’t care how much of an ass discord can be, he’s my ass- he’s never had friends and isn’t very socially savvy, has an ego and is literally the embodiment of chaos. two of those things he can work on, but the third is completely out of his control. he has no choice but to go the chaotic route for everything he does because he is quite literally unable to do anything else.

I don’t think a fantasy game implies the existence of anything lol it’s a fantasy game, that’s about as much evidence to say that ogres existed.

@@tiny2315 I wrote a long response and then TH-cam refreshed and deleted the whole thing so eff typing it all again, you get a summary:
Your cancel culture language is cringe. Stop implying people are racist for not sharing your opinions about cartoon horses, &
I share your opinion about cartoon horses. I was sleep deprived when I wrote those last two comments and hadn't thought through all the G4 examples of weirdly inconsistent race-coding across the fictional species. Next time, don't assume someone is racist when having this kind of conversation and this could have been a pleasant, "oh yeah, you're right!"
And next time you want to be a jerk and call someone a racist, go ahead and say it instead of condescendingly implying it like you're everybody's dad.
Lastly, why would I care and be angry at the G5 execs for using disgusting language like "more urban" if I was racist? Ridiculous.
@@Fourger14 Lol you are so mad when they didn't even said anything bad to you
Stay mad
I love this episode, I love your content keep up the good work!🫶🏻
Happy Easter sunday 😊❤👋🏾
Gonna take a minute to say Discord’s OnO character is a reference to Legolas from LOTR and The Hobbit 🏹
I highly recommend Dungeons & Dragons, give it a try atleast once.
I've been playing it for almost a decade, love every minute of it.
20:39: True!
Esse episodiobme ajudou a falar de D&D pro grupo de MLP que participo até hoje e hoje em dia jogamos juntos xD.
I like how they picked Bard for Pinkie for O&O and Rogue for Rainbow Dash. Bard is especially fitting for Pinkie Pie.
MY MAN DON"T FAIL!! MLP time!! /)

Would a Wild Magic build have interested Discord? Or would it bore him?
Wish we got more of that in the future tho :3
14:45: Yeah why didn't they just ask Rarity?
In early DnD redactions only DM rolled the dice
i love watching your vids
Not gonna lie The show kinda takes a dip in enthusiasm and substance at this point but it picks back up later
9:26: Read for filth!!!!!!
Did the Easter bunny come visit you Scoot?
I myself prefer Pathfinder 1e over D&D any day. More classes, more options, more everything!!

As someone whose learning how to play DnD, you should really take the easy route and play Baldurs Gate.
Some people just don't like Discord. I do like him, but thats me
Pinkamina Diane Pie

Isn't she pink, tho?
She's pink.
you NEED to watch amphibia, star vs. the forces of evil, or miraculous ladybug i just know that you'd love them!
You’re forgetting the owl house! That’s a great one! Miraculous is well written somewhat okay.
Miraculous would probably piss him off…
@@FeligamiAdrizoeSworaDooplivian he’s already etched that
