Since you asked about the gem: sapphires can be both blue and green, and teal too! And fun fact, it matches Celestia's ruby, because rubies and sapphires are both made of the same mineral - corundum. The only difference between them is the historical classification based on color. It's such a nice parallel of gems for the siblings, different but made of the same material. Another fun fact: all rubies are fluorescent, which means they glow red or hot pink under UV light. Sapphires can too, but a very small fraction of them. They usually have to be specifically lab made for that purpose. (Also the angel with three sets of wings is a Seraphim, not an Archangel)

I love Supernatural, but it did always confused me why it was changed from real mythology unless it was just for simplification.
Luna's cutie mark is actually very strange because in the episode where Celestia and Luna swap cutie marks, it implies that it IS part of her cutie mark. I'm sure that they only did that so we could actually SEE the cutie mark on Celestia, but because it didn't show up anywhere else on Luna's design, it does make it very confusing. I always headcanoned it was remnants from Nightmare Moon taking over.
For Lunari's cutiemark, I feel like a dream catcher would make sense. They are usually used as a charm to ward off nightmares, and Lunari has the power to go into dreams and basically "ward" off nightmares
Dude the cloud markings on lunari’s eyes are freaking STUNNING. I always thought the short hair from the first ep was a wasted opportunity for storytelling also it’s just super cute lol
I never realized that many people thought Celestia and Luna didn’t look related however I think this perception might differ depending on where youre from In my country its completely normal for siblings to look very different from each other, for instance one might have super curly hair and darker skin, while the other has almost straight hair and very light skin. Here, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to know theyre siblings from the same blood so that rlly didnt bother me while watching the show, ALSO I LOVED BOTH OF YOUR REDESIGNS

I'm learning a lot in this comment section :D It never bothered me that they looked so different, but I was always a little confused how a pair of siblings could be that different. My sister and I both look just like our mom, and I have another friend who looks just like their brother- but I'm also a dumb American so, peanut brain hours. Ye in Brazil is super common to siblings dont look alike or even parents dont look so much with they children is just our crazy mix of people gene working on!
I think a part of it is lesser known rules for siblings in media. Things like there usually is always a sibling of the opposite gender to play off. And unless the siblings are taking after visual clues from the parents specifically, they typically are designed to look very similar

The pink hair for young Celestia is fanon because of her medieval drawings in the book at the beginning of the show, but she's seen in the same style with different colors of hair throughout the show (though at the moment all I can remember is green) In my au she just has orange(/other warm tones maybe) hair to look more sun-like

Celestia knows how capable twilight is and if twilight and her friends actually needed help with a villain then she would step in. She’s not useless, if she was then equestria would have fallen DECADES ago before the time the show starts. I get that people don’t like celestia but at least get the facts straight before saying anything. (Also for luna suddenly getting floating hair and looking different, it’s canon that magic is the cause of it, alicorns are powerful beings and it all can’t stay in there bodies. So there bodies accommodate that, there hair becomes flowing and magical, as well as them growing taller then regular ponies and there horns becoming larger. Luna gained a lot of her magic back between both eps so it’s a given that her body would change to accommodate the magic growth in her)

The Changelings were already bugs, they live in a hive lmao. Some of the color pallets are ehh and I think not all should've changed but I do like the ideas of the design
I like the idea of the changelings going from malnourished to much more put together, I like the visual change from a rotting carcass to the jeweled beetles but... God do I hate the execution of it. They just look bad! And it's not the designs themselves, I've seen people make those designs look really pretty, it's just so poorly done in the show that they come off looking **rough**

Im pretty sure the black stain on lunas cutie mark in cannon is supposed too show that the reason she became nightmare moon was because she raised the moon and wasnt as popular and loved as her sister celestia, and her cutie mark came from raising the moon correctly for the first time, but love the concept of lunari having those marks all over his body

Plus, he really reminds me of an old friend of mine from high school who's also trans and bi, he loves wearing skirts and beanies, he dated and was boyfriends with one of my cousins (sadly broke up with him before graduation), and I respect him and his decisions a lot. I think the 'bug-pony' thing is so cool. Imagine where you could take designs like that! It could be amazing. Now... do I think the show's way of designing them is perfect? Not to come off rude or anything :D but at 4:25 when u say that the patch of black is not apart of her cutie mark and her cutie mark is just the moon that’s incorrect🙂↔️cause in season 7 when starlight glimmer switches their marks the patch of black was also on celestia and the the black patch was non-excitant on luna’s flank :D just wanted to let u know other than that great redesigns, although personally i do prefer Luna as a girl the idea of lunari is adorable and it’s truly something new and I never would have thought of that. Lunari is so canon. I feel like Luna was never a full person if that makes sense. Personally, I never thought of making *any* of the characters trans, but this works so well. The dark markings make soooo much sense. The new hair texture is just chef's kiss, and I love the clouds whether it matches his vibe or not. As much as I love the original Luna's hair (the stars are so pretty) the light purple definitely makes the base coat pop. Also, Celestia is so sick? (/pos) I almost want to learn how to draw MLP so I can draw your versions 😭. Celestia having layers makes sense to me. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but it kind of looks like the different stages of the sun. Multiple wings are so good. I hope you understand, but I wish to absorb your art through osmosis. I eat it up. Many others and I would love to see you redesign the villains, but please take your time and take plenty of breaks. The implication of transphobic Celestia is insane. Like ur idea is v cute, and I see the sentiment there- but her not "understanding" Lunari, and only calling him her brother AFTER he returns from banishment directly implies that she *was* transphobic and was either emotionally abusive or extremely emotionally absent. And from a storytelling standpoint ig that makes sense yk? Lunari was driven to rebellion, driven to evil and all that-- but having the driving force behind that go from jealousy and frustration, etc.. to "my sister never accepted me for who I was" trans POV feels simultaneously disrespectful to trans people as a whole (bc we're demoting a normally complex and deep character like Lunari to one trait: Being Trans- which is not a trans person's whole personality) and also some fuck ass form of media we'd consume as trans people and go "oh my god just like my family, this is representation" bc we're so desperate for crumbs we ignore that it's written like an annoying stereotype. I will say, Lunari being trans is super nice to add! Also I made an au where Luna and Celestia aren't princesses but are gods directly from the cosmos and sun they are associated with, and Luna is ideally older than Celestia since. But, hear me out: White Luna but has varying blue gradients as a normal horse would? And what if Nightmare is actually just Luna losing her cool cause the role is to handle nightmares and can therefore change forms whereas Celestia can't cause she is nowhere near as strong? Also we do not associate anything with that dumbass EQG show, Celestia looks like a demon- I dunno, I just hated the show's power system so much that I remade it in a Transformers/MLP au I am making. And Luna in it is keeping the name but changes form a lot to keep citizens from being horrified, and Celestia keeps the immaturity but it is from being super emotionally driven and not holding recurring generations of experience like Luna does cause they are forever bound to the entirety of space and not held to one star like Celestia is. One more thing, I made Luna hella demi with finding Zecora so perfect to them since Zecora has a long ass lifespan due to blursings bestowed on her. (I will explain more if anyone wants to, I have stuff posted somewhere.)

I'm learning a lot in this comment section :D It never bothered me that they looked so different, but I was always a little confused how a pair of siblings could be that different. My sister and I both look just like our mom, and I have another friend who looks just like their brother- but I'm also a dumb American so, peanut brain hours. What you said makes sense though, what if Celestia just looks more like her Dad or w/e and Lunari looks more like Mom. Distinctly possible! Thank you for the comment !!
Ye in Brazil is super common to siblings dont look alike or even parents dont look so much with they children is just our crazy mix of people gene working on!

I think a part of it is lesser known rules for siblings in media. Things like there usually is always a sibling of the opposite gender to play off. And unless the siblings are taking after visual clues from the parents specifically, they typically are designed to look very similar

The pink hair for young Celestia is fanon because of her medieval drawings in the book at the beginning of the show, but she's seen in the same style with different colors of hair throughout the show (though at the moment all I can remember is green)
In my au she just has orange(/other warm tones maybe) hair to look more sun-like

(Also for luna suddenly getting floating hair and looking different, it’s canon that magic is the cause of it, alicorns are powerful beings and it all can’t stay in there bodies. So there bodies accommodate that, there hair becomes flowing and magical, as well as them growing taller then regular ponies and there horns becoming larger. Luna gained a lot of her magic back between both eps so it’s a given that her body would change to accommodate the magic growth in her)

edit: Opals are rainbows of colors. they can be blue-green. great choice since Opals have a sparkly reflective shimmer effect inside them that can be viewed as stars.

I do like the changling redesign IN CONCEPT! I think the 'bug-pony' thing is so cool. Imagine where you could take designs like that! It could be amazing. Now... do I think the show's way of designing them is perfect? Absolutely not, but I do like that they tried. The colors, the shape language, the differing lifestyles to our ponies - its. so. fun!!

Luna’s black splotch stayed on her flank when she and the other princesses transferred their alicorn magic to Twilight so Tirek couldn’t get it
The only reason I see Luna’s black splotch included in her cutie mark when it was swapped with Celestia is that if they didn’t do that, Luna’s cutie mark on Celestia would look invisible bc Celestia’s fur color is so pale

Lunari is so canon. I feel like Luna was never a full person if that makes sense. Personally, I never thought of making *any* of the characters trans, but this works so well. The dark markings make soooo much sense. The new hair texture is just chef's kiss, and I love the clouds whether it matches his vibe or not. As much as I love the original Luna's hair (the stars are so pretty) the light purple definitely makes the base coat pop. Also, Celestia is so sick? (/pos) I almost want to learn how to draw MLP so I can draw your versions 😭. Celestia having layers makes sense to me. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but it kind of looks like the different stages of the sun. Multiple wings are so good. I hope you understand, but I wish to absorb your art through osmosis. I eat it up. Many others and I would love to see you redesign the villains, but please take your time and take plenty of breaks. The implication of transphobic Celestia is insane. Like ur idea is v cute, and I see the sentiment there- but her not "understanding" Lunari, and only calling him her brother AFTER he returns from banishment directly implies that she *was* transphobic and was either emotionally abusive or extremely emotionally absent.
And from a storytelling standpoint ig that makes sense yk? Lunari was driven to rebellion, driven to evil and all that-- but having the driving force behind that go from jealousy and frustration, etc.. to "my sister never accepted me for who I was" trans POV feels simultaneously disrespectful to trans people as a whole (bc we're demoting a normally complex and deep character like Lunari to one trait: Being Trans- which is not a trans person's whole personality) and also some fuck ass form of media we'd consume as trans people and go "oh my god just like my family, this is representation" bc we're so desperate for crumbs we ignore that it's written like an annoying stereotype.
Trans person was trans, got harassed, got justifiably angry, lashed out (bc that's clearly Abt them being trans and not underlying mental health issues 🙄) gets punished for lashing out after receiving abuse- and the conclusion is that the transphobe said sorry so it's fine now? That magically fixes it? I don't think so ur honor.
But I'm sure the Internet would love to praise that storyline up and down because it "tackled a hard hitting and real subject" nvm the trans person being made into an accessory for the cis girl to earn brownie points off of.

Also I made an au where Luna and Celestia aren't princesses but are gods directly from the cosmos and sun they are associated with, and Luna is ideally older than Celestia since. But, hear me out: White Luna but has varying blue gradients as a normal horse would? And what if Nightmare is actually just Luna losing her cool cause the role is to handle nightmares and can therefore change forms whereas Celestia can't cause she is nowhere near as strong?
Also we do not associate anything with that dumbass EQG show, Celestia looks like a demon-
I dunno, I just hated the show's power system so much that I remade it in a Transformers/MLP au I am making. And Luna in it is keeping the name but changes form a lot to keep citizens from being horrified, and Celestia keeps the immaturity but it is from being super emotionally driven and not holding recurring generations of experience like Luna does cause they are forever bound to the entirety of space and not held to one star like Celestia is.
One more thing, I made Luna hella demi with finding Zecora so perfect to them since Zecora has a long ass lifespan due to blursings bestowed on her. (I will explain more if anyone wants to, I have stuff posted somewhere.)

I noticed in the show hair seems to solely grow out of the scalp lol.
