For the initial posting, NTPC's notification says that region is allotted at the time of joining and plant within the region is given after training on basis of training performance. On what basis is the region allotted at the time of joining?

@@MonkeyAndDonkey In my knowledge generally the lifestyle of a government employee is quite boring as they have a fix schedule which they follow for decades, though they have less work load but they feel less energetic as they are surrounded with lazy people, there is no personal growth and they don't get any holiday for long trip, etc., These are the lifestyle of a state government employee (as per my knowledge). Is this same in the case of PSUs employee ?

Do they talk in a more educated way and for more educated topics unlike sarkaari budhau who mostly discuss "bitiya ki shaadi", "gaanv ki zameen", "shehar ka makaam" and so on, or they talk about new technologies, machines, education system, modern society and use English often? Do they go to Disco, Pubs, NightClubs and enjoy that glamour? Here is the answer to all...! Fact is that, PSUs are way better than ordinary government jobs in all the terms like money, lifestyle and facilities. They get much more salaries and they are much more attentive and glamorous than ordinary government jobs. But the one and only loophole in that life is that, such plants are located mostly in remote areas of the country. You don't get that metro lifestyle like IT People. Though you'll get all basic and enough facilities in the campus of these PSUs, but that nightlife of metros are missing. Also, in order to do big shoppings and some other stuffs, you'll have to travel to the nearest city. But overall, Life is peaceful in PSUs. Actually it all depends on your personnel preference. If you want metro lifestyle, don't go for any dimension of Mechanical engineering branch of study. Choose ECE, CS/IT instead. Hope this helps!

Never run in the rat race, be it's GATE or ES. If you think, working in MNCs is more royal and satisfies your need, go for it. does ntpc declare waiting list of engineer through gate ...if not then how they manage if selected candidates (not one or two ) dont join...the company
Best to join PSU as they are the perfect employer. If you exert to some extent and follow all rules as per delegation growth is there, adequate security etc and family life will be best after 50 years of age. After all life is all money only but should contain all balance.Nowadays PSU also pay best

My father worked in NTPC for 39 years and retired last year. I miss my life in NTPC Township. Couldn't get selected though. Sweet memories.
