  • Shortly after takeoff I experienced an issue that almost warranted declaring an emergency and immediately returning to the field. Lesson learned!

    Interesting to see how the gear and doors sequence one at a time. That bird at 1:36! Sick C8! My wife wants one, and so do I! Fun video, love the buzzing of the mt tops!

    You're flying in my backyard. I had my airplane (which my father built) at Arlington for awhile. I currently live in Snohomish and was in Lake Stevens at a private airpark for many years. I also enjoy your jet boat videos as I have a V8 jet boat my father built in the 60s.

    Any chance you can take us along the Olympic mountains....living on vancouver island and flying along our range is always beautiful, but Mt flying, not to be taken lightly. The view from Victoria, your Olympic Mountains are stunning!

      @Jolly Roger Aviation I'll look forward to it! I always love watching the sport class at Reno with the Lanceairs and glass airs push the limits! As a owner of a poor man's RV (Zenair 601) and a Harmon Rocket is pretty much my dream...it's funny how the fellow who takes me for the odd flight in his RV talks about how he wants a Lanceair..funny how us humans are.

    Perhaps you could have the Autopilot Switch replaced with a Toggle Switch. Is there a Light for Autopilot? If not then perhaps you could get one wired too.

    Nice Aircraft. You got a hot rod. When you engage and disengage AP do you get an audible alarm? If not you could add one. I'm with Scott though. I would move it. It's going to happen again. I like the way the gear goes up one wheel at a time. It looks way better than a 310, 401 and other Cessna props. They look like they're struggling to come up. You're going to have fun with that plane. I have heard stories about them stalling but I'm sure you are a very qualified pilot and have had training with a pilot that owns a plane like yours. Do you fly 737-800 for Alaska Airlines? I think pilots have the greatest job but I'm sure it's stressful. Have a Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Take care.

    • @JollyRogerAviation
      @JollyRogerAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s no audible warning, just a visual indication on the autopilot panel. I fly 737 700/800/900/900ER/MAX-9

    What ya’ getting for lbs/hr?
    Don’t expect that stick / switch will be that much bother with hours and experience. Switching it up might make a good addition to the annual when you get that time comes.

    • @JollyRogerAviation
      @JollyRogerAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's an awful lot of confidence in that big-bore continental. Mine failed over the Cascade range, not fun. Going down in the water there would be even less fun without the proper equipment. Cool footage, be safe, and consider wearing survival gear over the water.

    • @JollyRogerAviation
      @JollyRogerAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel like anywhere you fly in the PNW, there’s always a risk greater than flying in other parts of the country. Air taxis, including my families, flew/flies single engine wheel planes day in and day out up in southeast Alaska which is very similar to this area. I do get your point though, I guess it’s just a calculated risk to enjoy life. I also understand energy management and my speed could have easily been traded in for altitude and made a beach landing of sorts, except the extremely rocky areas. I am planning a flight up to Alaska this summer and plotting out my points, my alternates and you bring up a really good point about emergency equipment that I will definitely have on board before I make that trip. Thank you for the very thought-provoking comment!

  • @Newwarbirdflyer
    @Newwarbirdflyer ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would make some changes to your a/p switches. Engage only from the panel, disconnect from stick or the panel. Pretty much all GA a/ps are like that, and as you know so are the big jets.
