  • So far in our series on how to design specific spaces we’ve been talking about the public spaces of the home. In this fifth video in the series we’re moving into the private space of the home and exploring how to create calm and serene bedrooms
    Bedrooms, whether they are used daily or reserved for guests, require certain elements for maximum functionality and comfort. The goal is to create a relaxing atmosphere that allows you to rest, renew and recharge.

    My bedroom is medium wood tones with navy bedding and art work plus plants and I find it very soothing. Carpet is a must for me✨

    Liz, do you think keeping bedroom wall decor minimal adds to a calmer space?

    • @BalanceRhythm
      @BalanceRhythm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lydia! Great question! Yes, I think that a few well placed pieces can enhance the calmness in a room but too many or using pieces that compete for attention can create visual clutter. I like to err on the side of "less is more". ~Liz

      @@BalanceRhythmThanks,Liz. Had a hunch about that. Currently, doing an update in bedroom, the desert modern. So far so good. But is really easy to go overboard.

      @@lydiabond5393 My pleasure! It's so true. Especially with all the great patterns, textures and colors of Desert Modern.

    What if you can't put a big rug in the bedroom? Any suggestions when using small rugs on each side of the bed (I have a water mattress, so lifting the bed isn't an option)?

      Yes, you can use runner style rugs on each side from the nightstands to the end of the bed.

      @@BalanceRhythmSo, the whole length of the bed from the nightstand? Thanks for the tip: I would have taken something shorter... and probably wouldn't be happy with it...

      @@duikmans My pleasure! 😊 You can stop a few inches short of the full length keeping in long enough to balance the arrangement and still have a visual impact.

    I like a lot of these ideas, but one i struggle with is the long curtains - we have a radiator beneath the window, and I think a long curtain would stop the heat coming into the room. What length of curtain would you recommend in this scenario? (please)

      Hi Kim! A solution for this would be to use a shade on the actual window. Fabric or woven roman shades look really great. If you have space on the sides you could add drapery panels to add more softness and some acoustical benefits. ~Liz
