I read somewhere that it was her own choice to drop "Bessie". After all, it's not a "proper" name - it's used as a diminutive for "Elizabeth" and she thought it sounded too lower class and undignified.

I knew a woman who carried her father's name as her first name, Marvin. However, she went by Faye (her middle name) all of her life. She had an older sister and was the baby of the family, hence she was given her father's name to carry on.

Wallis was attractive when she was younger and that might have helped her charm grow as she aged. Edward was a traitor to his country and allies.. and a small minded person. Lucky he abdicated. I would guess that maybe there is some genetic proof of her possible AIS... but lets face it .. this is our own curiosity we wish to satisfy. I think she came from the time when women of a better presumed economic status were expected to marry a good man of economic stability. It didn't always work out as everything wasn't as it appeared. . I have read of women with AIS and how it affected their lives. I have respect for their ... dilemma , for want of a better word.
