He finds out that his girl cheated on him and on the same night he loses a race and his precious AE86? Poor Takumi... Now THIS is what I call a Tough Night...
As hard as this scene was to watch, especially given everything that had just happened to Takumi, this was a crucial turning point for the show and it also showed Bunta's compassionate side which was nice.
Yeah, It showed how much bunta cared for his son, because he knew this was going to happen, that his beloved car was going to end like this, but he still let him learn the hard way
asian fathers are super hard on their kids, usually just to motivate them to do better, good is never good enough and all that, and while it can certainly feel like they dont care, they do, you're their flesh and blood, and they just want you to be doing as good as you possibly can, and given everything that happened to takumi, and then his engine blows, i mean come on, bunta isn't heartless.
I remember something similar happening today my Mazda 6 (2006). It was a slow death though. I had already had a leaky oil issue which made me check the oil once a day to make sure it still had it for months! Then one day the car studdered and shut off. Eventually I drove the car to the dealership and they looked at it, gave it back to me, and told me everything was fixed. I drove to an AutoZone around the corner and literally nothing had been fixed. Infact the issue has gotten so bad when trying to drive out of the AutoZone parking lot, the car shut off 3-4 times. It was then I knew the car was truly dying and there was nothing I could do to fix it. I remember crying like a damn baby on the way over to the Enterprise dealership because at that point I just needed a car that worked. Before I traded by car in, I remember just sitting in the car for 30 mins just crying my eyes out. My mother was annoyed I was so depressed and wanted me to be excited I got a 2018 Nissan Sentra. I simply told her "it's kind of like loosing your wife then getting a new one on the same day, you can't expect to get over it that quickly." I watched this and knew 100% the feeling. Any man who lost a car they cared about when they were young will know the feeling.
To a lot of people, when their car broke down and it can't be fixed, they'll be like "I'll just buy a new car" But to car lovers, it's hard for us to get over it. It truly does feel like getting a new wife right after your previous wife died. It's hard to get over it.
I think the actually saddest part is when you watch the whole series, and watch the last episode and the end plays rage your dream plus the gt86 that’s emotional seeing how the characters evolved
my corollas engine blew too a while back, dropped a valve. Wasn't as upset though as i was impressed i was actually able to break a toyota, old girl still ran after too, granted on 3 cylinders but still A for effort
There's a lot of anime deaths where the character is defeated and they die slowly and give a final speech while the main character cries. Then there's this one. No speech, no screaming, no flashbacks, just...gone. Snuffed out just like that. One second it was trying its hardest and the next it just can't. There's no need for a speech or screaming the character's name because, well, there just isn't. You've seen how well Takumi and Bunta treat the car, and you've seen it beat impossible races. Those races *are* the speech. They're the 86 saying "Here I am, going strong, racing you." Then when it blows up, when you hear the engine straining, you hear it say goodbye. And when it blows up there's just silence. No crying, no revenge speech, no slow fading breaths. You don't need anyone to tell you what's happened, because you can feel it. It's not like shounen anime where you think "he's going to get a power boost" or "he's going to go further." It's just "Yeah." You already heard the engine straining, you already know Kyoichi's going to win. It's just "Yeah. You did your best. We saw you do your best. Goodbye." It's sadder, in a way, because many people have had similar experiences. You don't know the feeling of an intergalactic demon killing your lifelong training partner, but you do know the feeling of your car dying. You see Takumi crying and you relate. You see him blaming himself and you relate. Because what makes an anime death sad isn't the speech. It's not the over the top crying. It's not the villain laughing. It's the empathy you feel. When Toru crashed his Roadster, you felt empathetic. Just a passionate guy who lost his passion. You felt empathy for Nakazato, when he lost control of his GTR. Heck, I even felt empathy for Shingo because I saw how much he loved his car. I think that's what makes Initial D special to a lot of people. Every character is likeable. Every character has a backstory. Nearly every character is shown loving their car. It's not "Bad guy attacks main character because money." It's "Opponent puts his passion, life, and sometimes more on the line for his hometown's pride." They're not doing it because they're up against the main character. They're doing it because it's their passion. And that's beautiful. So if someone ever tells you "Initial D is a stupid show about cars and you can't fall in love with any of the characters," just tell them that there's more characters than they'd think.
Its 2020, im just 14 but as a car fanatic this honestly hit me hard and reminded me of when my dad owned an ek9 and decided to sell it because we needed the money and even though i never drove it, seeing my dad driving it made me feel in love with the car.

The good news is that I got a job and might be able to fix it soon.
I feel this video way too much. My first car was a 89 944, and being juvenile as hell on tyres I shouldn't have been driving on I had the car break traction in a horribly unpredictable way and end crash into a bush. Destroyed the right fender and bent the non-structural part of the frame ever so slightly. I didn't know what to do, and over the course of a grueling 6 months as I had to progress as a person and have zero freedom to go anywhere it was emotionally draining. But eventually I got to it, I rebuilt the front end of the engine with a new water pump, timing belt, and more. Coming to the crash damage was possibly the hardest, but luckily an old friend of my dad's who I had no reason to believe would help me came out in stride and we managed to fix some previous owner damage to the radiator frame, so I could drive her again, and about a month later got to the frame and got it 90% there and enough I could bolt the car together. A couple weeks later another good friend of mine came through and we got her on a lift, got the rest of the front end on, and gave her some new brakes too. Since then I've taken her to the track once, I am preparing to take apart the engine to do some vacuum lines and injector cleaning among other things before going to the track again in about three weeks, and from there in September I hope to make it to 944fest with her to hangout and track with others. She may not be the cleanest or prettiest 944, but she's mine and I love her to death. No matter what happens I will keep her running and driving.

had my V6 Charger blow up on me at 4,000RPM almost a year ago now, I ended up scrapping the car because I had no money to V8 swap it, I think the timing chain went in it and even though it was giving me a new issue every month I still felt like shit, that was my first car, I have a better car now but I still wish I had been easier on that car, I drove the wheels off it constantly and that's likely why it went
Tbh cried when this happened just cos i know the feeling it happened to me like in 2016 ( i decided to watch Initial D only on the 2020 lockdown) My BMW 118i i was just driving it on some little road in finland started to switch gears jsut to give it a little acceleration and motor just said no thanks and blew out luckly i was just starting to accelerate so speed wasn't big
And, to this day, Sudo is the one (and now only) opponent Takumi has never defeated in an actual race. In the rematch, Sudo conceded after giving Takumi the same headstart as he did in Akagi and not passing him completely. Under Stage 4 rules (which were also adopted by Best Motoring for their touge battles), Takumi's lead by a front bumper would constitute in a loss...for Takumi.

This exactly how I felt when I blew up my rx8 I had for 3 years a few days ago 🙁😥
Mazda RX, not for the emotionally weak😂🤣 (Apex seals plz)
Goddamnit... this always hurts...
if takumi did not blew his motor on the final stage am pretty sure theres gonna make stage 6
probably
theres 10 stages, you're behind.
The first time I saw this, something broke inside me...
Now when I watched again, still hurting just like the first time...
And sawing this clips still hurting to be honest...
I still am sad about this incident
TAKUMI FUJIWARA it´s your only precious😭😭😭 car right?
@@kaungwaihlyan8389 yes😭
R.I.P Old AE86 :
I literally got tears in this scene........
After seeing him push it to the limit, I feel like I wanna learn manual so bad now...
Real men cry when they lose their vehicles. RIP 2007 Ninja 250 you're the best bike I have ever owned....
That shit was wild. It was just at the point where you assumed Takumi was always gonna find a way to win, then that happened.
F for cute TACOMEAT :c
A long day ago my mom's Ford focus 2004 broke the clutch And now we have an 2004 Opel Astra coupe
had my V6 Charger blow up on me at 4,000RPM almost a year ago now, I ended up scrapping the car because I had no money to V8 swap it, I think the timing chain went in it and even though it was giving me a new issue every month I still felt like shit, that was my first car, I have a better car now but I still wish I had been easier on that car, I drove the wheels off it constantly and that's likely why it went
My dads car was scrapped today, truly one of the saddest moments
I cried on this episode and I thought this was the end of this anime
The scene in the truck with his father is the best scene in the entire franchise.
Had my rear tire blow out taking a curve and the back end swung out and slammed into a traffic sign. My reaction was the exact same as takumis here
I remember watching this episode
You Don't Know How We Feel
-His girl has a Daddy Sugar
-His Car Broke Down
-He lose a match
Taking Really Shocked n Depressed.
Until his father put an Illegal Racing Engine inside the AE86 for Overhaul.
I thought the saddest moment was Iketani not being able to meet his date on time.
imagine takumi died....
saddest moment right there
Top ten anime betrayals
esse sim é um dos momendos mais tristes dos animes dos ultimos tempos
Realmente
its so sad to see the car slowing down and the rpms dropping slowly :(
i cried bro
The saddest moment ever in initial d*
This reminds me of a couple of months ago, we had a Corolla 01, It had been with me since birth, it was there at all my greatest times in my life. When I was sixteen I finally started practicing driving, I loved the feel of the car and all of its 105hp. A couple of days before I got my license the car was falling apart, bottom rust, loose exhaust, engine not sounding well, oil leak. My father exhanged it for a suzuki. I still miss the car, it was hard to hold back the tears, when I saw it without license plates after school. I just got those ffeelings back after rewatching this clip
Top 10 tragedias más tristes en la historia del anime 😔👊
I feel this, after losing my beloved Dodge Omni due to being a reckless driver in my youth
RIP AE86😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I was 15 when I first saw that episode.... Man, you ve no idea how deep it hit me
Bunta: Forget the 4AGE :) VTEC is ready for swap :)
it wasnt a vtec swap
@@tungabunga4107 Who doesn't know ... its a Toyota/Yamaha engine ... lmfao ...
This is the first anime that nearly made me cry, just cause of this scene.
I was biking fast in a downhill. My brakes didnt work, i crased into a garden of cactus.
*rage your dream and astronomia plays*
Why am I sad over a fucking 86 bro how?
its a little sad but still i feel exited when bunta replaced the engine
When I blew the engine in my Supra I got really depressed, I didn't want to sell it. I kept it for a year until I got a freshly rebuilt engine in it, been driving it since non stop.
an engine swap is cheaper than a whole new supra anyways
One does not simply kill the legendary ae86
EDIT: Hold tf up I came back to this goddamn video 2 years later bruh but ngl this was actually kinda sad tho ngl
86 is End of Undefeated.
"You just happened to ride it"
Still didn't wreck the 86 though.
Cause my boy Takumi's a boss!
killing your engine is as bad as wrecking your car.
@@Seopy The engine got replaced... not the whole car.
NO I DON'T CRY! YOU CRY!!
I just cried witnessing this
Poor takumi (R.I.P AE86 takumi)
