  • This video details how to restore, calibrate and use a B&K 467 CRT Restorer/Analyzer. This tool can be used to test the life span of Cathode Ray Tubes as well as restore and rejuvenate bad tubes, even Sony Trinitron CRTs like PVMs and BVMs. This unit was made in 1974, so it's due for some servicing.

    I did add links to the Manuals and Time Stamped the video. Those details are in the description for this video. I can't wait to use this tool more!

    I keep seeing 2 CRT tube tester kits when my craigslist searches finish & I always was curious about them. Almost makes me want to check one of them out, but one is a B&K 465 so even a little older than this unit. Great video as always, super interesting.

      Thanks, I think the oldest one to go for is the BK467, older than that and you can't get them attached to Trinitrons, at least that's what Savon Pat mentioned to me.

    I worked in a TV repair shop back in the late 1980s and they also bought ex-rental TV's that were in average condition and 'boosted the tube' before putting them out on the shop floor with 3 months warranty.

      @@RetroTechUSA Not cool for the customers in the long run as it shortens the life of the tube to about 6 months I think they used to say. It was like clocking back the mileage on a used car by half.

    Oh, cool. That one's actually got a printed circuit board in it. The early ones were all point-to-point connections. Typically with these kinds of things, I'd expect the capacitors to need replacement unless they've been serviced within the past 10-15 years.

    I just got one the other day off eBay but unfortunately the heater voltage knob doesn't move that gauge at all. I'm not sure if the gauge is not working at all or if the heater voltage isn't working. That gauge on the far left sits below zero but the other two gauges sit right at zero. I refilled the entire board and I also use my ESR meter to check all the capacitors and all the capacitors check good. Do you have any suggestions on what I can try? Thanks

    • @WinrichNaujoks

      Apparently some of the resistors on the board can fail. Check those as well.

    I have a Heathkit and I would assume it would work with a Trinitron with the proper adapter. What is different about a trinitron other than it's gun geometry?

  • @Megalocade
    @Megalocade 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are the trinitron tubes the same pinout as a regular cr23 tube, what diagram did you use to make your adaptors i need to make an adaptor for my BK but Sony use use dual focus tubes with double focus pins, ive made adaptors for CR31 and CR23 which work just fine but really need help making one for the sony tubes.

    • @ManOfAttitudeLP1998
      @ManOfAttitudeLP1998 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't need the focus pins if focus is g3 and g4 voltage.
      On my Diamondtron Neck there is just KR,KG,KB,G1,G2 and Heater 1 and Heater 2 so since diamondtron is aperture grille should sony not be the same

    • @Megalocade
      @Megalocade 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ManOfAttitudeLP1998 cheers, i managed to make a universal adapter so i can clip directly to the pins, the Sony tubes i have all have different sockets and so finding sockets on thier own is virtually impossible, but the pin outs are always labled on the neck board on sonys so its a big help, works just fine.

    RCA BKR689PR console TV,I have this model TV Picture tube number is 25VGDP22. It worked fine mabe needed an adjustment. We called an old repairman who came and was going to try and rejuvenate the picture tube,but did not have the right adapter.he messed up the picture of the TV . We keep calling him to put it back the way he found it! My question what model Rejuvenator would work on this TV with the proper adapter!?

  • @WinrichNaujoks

    Can you say how to build adapters for these? How do you know which neck socket you need, what are the pins on the plug side, how do you know the pins on the tube, where do you get the information from about the different voltages for the tube?

    According to the service manual for the B&K 467 there are 3 output pins for the G2, oneach for red, green and blue.
    According to the service manual for the PVM2530 you have there there is only one pin for the G2 on the Trinitron tube.
    Which of the 3 output G2 pins did you use for the single G2 pin on the Trinitron?
    Would be interested to know.
    Also where did you get your heater voltage from?
    Cheers

    • @Pentium100MHz
      @Pentium100MHz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The three G2 wires on the tester are connected together, so you can use any one of them you want. The three G1 wires are also connected together.
      There is also a big list of CRT model numbers and what settings they need, but if your tube is not on that list, you can find the heater voltage in the service manual of the TV/monitor. Or just measure it I guess.
      G1 voltage can also be found in the service manual.
      I made a universal adapter for my tester - instead of a socket it has mini-grabbers, so I can connect it to any tube I want, as long as I know its pinout.
