I will say the biggest change from the comics to the series were the Red Lanterns. At the time most Red Lanterns in the comics were unable to speak because of how consumed with rage they were. Oh and the ring would explode their hearts and take over their bodily functions so you couldn't just take that ring off.

Oh yeah and they constantly spewed blood. Probably not good for the kiddos. The Red Lantern oath was also altered for Cartoon Network.
