Definitely needs more to do than just combat after combat. Some kind of reward for exploration, like caches of items or healing that don't show up as icons when you're zooming around. Or even just cosmetics. Something that would make it worthwhile to actually run around the map rather than just fly everywhere between twelve dozen combat icons. Other than that, it looks great, and the combat itself is very fluid. Going to keep an eye on it, for sure.

32:30 The health regeneration during combat mechanic seems to be similar to what Dead Cells does - when you're hit the portion of your health lost is turned into regenerate-able health that you can get back if you hit enemies. In DS that meter goes down very quickly but here it's more forgiving.
Yeah, immediately made me think of Bloodborne's "regain" system where you can get some of lost health back if you get off attacks within 5 seconds of being hit. Encourages aggressive play.
@@JohnWilson-mk2jp Considering all references and similar themes, Dead Cells has to fromsoft games I really would've be surprised if it was mechanic directly inspired from the one in BB.
Keybind was my major gripe with the game as well. I rebound it to Space=dodge, alt=jump, shift=sprint. C to block still feel wrong but... eh, the demo was just 1h long so, I used dodge most of the time anyway. I personally didn't really like the infinite spamming dodge. Block has a sort of "HP" but dodge is just an infinite amount. I'm not a fanatic of souls-like games but there should be some limitation, like X number of dodges that slowly recharge or something like that.
Rogue like is like George Carlin's gourmet. I can give you 2 of the same pretzels but the one in your left hand is gourmet. Maybe they can start making gourmet games. Or even gourmet rogue like games.
this games looks pretty cool. I really like the flight stuff and think it should be a lot more accessible. Like, instead of using these restrictive points, just make it so that the player can transform in any sufficiently open place while not in combat. If the developers have places that are open but they don't want you to fly through, then simply create evil birds or something that will drive you out of the air if you enter their zone. As it stands, the design lets you have a feeling of freedom right up until you land, then you need to trudge back to a designated take-off point. Also, I really don't like the fact that anything worth seeing is marked with an icon. There's not really much to exploration if it's just you moving from one HUD symbol to another, and exploration seems like it should be a big part of the game -- flying around, looking for landmarks and noticeable features, etc.
I feel like a dedicated jump button is no longer necessary for open world games. Just have a dodge and a mantle/climb. Jumping should be part of mantling.
Looks like it examplifies perfectly the big empty repetitive open world. There is some different landscapes, it sure looks pretty but games are meant to be games, not paintings. And here it looks like 100km² filled with only a dozen of encounters and it all feels the same. To the point of the bird shapeshifting feels pointless, no matter where you land it won't make a difference in what you do. The card progression system is interesting though. Although you get a new card every encounter you deal with, if you had the mana to spare it would probably be too much ? It'd need a lot a balancing, or change the condition for the card draw event to occur maybe.
Since I'm not really into Dark Souls like games, I was skeptical of this, but now that I saw this gameplay, I'm intrigued. Ah damn 16gb ram? You wouldn't guess it based on the looks. Need to get a better PC

I've had this game on "ignored" for awhile now - apparently for good reason.
And the Apex engine makes Generation Zero look and feel so great too! Same engine as Call of the Wild.
The game told you to get Mana from chests Splat. Classic Splat for sure LOL
At first I thought I would find the sliding dodge silly, but it's not implemented half bad.
Archeologists in the distant future will never find an intact pot thanks to video games. We've been trained too well to break everything!
Oh man, was almost screaming at you Splat to open chests 😂😂😂
I was playing this game yesterday for 45 minutes - BRUH THIS IS SO COOL! gameplay wise and combat is good! I recommend this game to wishlist ;)
Know of any plans for coop / multiplayer?
"i don't understand the appeal of gambling" whilst playing a game with loot chests and card choices lol. Pretty sure you do. Pretty sure I've heard you referring to the release of dopamine when collecting lots of shiny things. It's all the same
"I ain't messing no more dude! I've gone full BIRD!!!" 🤣😂🤣
Looks like a good game with a lot of chance to gro and improve.
Saddly the email thing is a big deal breaker for me, so thanks Splat for pointing that out, it saves me a lot of trouble.
These guys were also making a L4D type of game called Second Extintion before this one. It seems fun but it also looks like they're mostly focused on this one. Hopefully it doesn't end up on EA limbo.
They made Howard Legacy, too. I can see many similarities in the UI, gameplay mechanics and things like that.
@@albertport2642 that's actually a different studio altogether! We're Systemic Reaction, a small Swedish studio within Avalanche Studios Group. Hogwarts Legacy is developed by Avalanche Software, a large AAA studio in America.
Splatt still the master of comedy commentary!
Video dropped an hour ago. 51 minutes long. 12k views...what? Splat, you are my hero.
He has a very regular video uploading schedule. So many of us are usually waiting for the video to come out. But yeah, huge audience.
Great shirt "ooo viking ghost...neat!"
"Alright so the ankles... have been broken"
I fucking died 😂😂😂
Definitely needs more to do than just combat after combat. Some kind of reward for exploration, like caches of items or healing that don't show up as icons when you're zooming around. Or even just cosmetics. Something that would make it worthwhile to actually run around the map rather than just fly everywhere between twelve dozen combat icons. Other than that, it looks great, and the combat itself is very fluid. Going to keep an eye on it, for sure.
its a demo for an unreleased game.
@@JasonEllingsworth I am aware. That's why it's the best time to give constructive criticism and feedback.
@@Bllurr1 no. Your feedback at this point is completely irrelevant. Wait until there is some form of early access build, as this is just a polished tech demo, and likely only represents 10% of the finished game.
@@JasonEllingsworth No doubt. But reactions to a demo are absolutely part of the process. I highly doubt they just flop it out and then ignore what people are saying, initial impressions are still initial impressions. Splat does it constantly. "They should really add...", "What I'd like to see is...", "I'm not a fan of...", etc. And he basically said the same thing in his closing thoughts, that the world feels empty in between the marked icons.
The jumpy bois reminded me of the Witcher 3 and one of the goblin looking enemys
I love this guys commentary lmfao
Bloodborne did it
Not all them drop fragments it tells u that in the tutorial . It's a tier system and ones of certain tiers have them
"I'm here to smash!" - Quote: Splat, 2023 🤣🤣
Keybind was my major gripe with the game as well. I rebound it to Space=dodge, alt=jump, shift=sprint. C to block still feel wrong but... eh, the demo was just 1h long so, I used dodge most of the time anyway.
I personally didn't really like the infinite spamming dodge. Block has a sort of "HP" but dodge is just an infinite amount. I'm not a fanatic of souls-like games but there should be some limitation, like X number of dodges that slowly recharge or something like that.
I was pretty bummed… game
Looks amazing so much potential! But no choice of character, took away the drive of investing in a character to progress
you're killing me today with these jokes
This game seems 100x better than Forspoken.💯👌🏼
STILL BETTER THAN FORSBROKEN!
Avalanche studios did a great Mad Max game and they did work with ID on Rage 2.
Thanks for showcasing! ^^
Rogue like is like George Carlin's gourmet. I can give you 2 of the same pretzels but the one in your left hand is gourmet. Maybe they can start making gourmet games. Or even gourmet rogue like games.
Spacebar is usually jump, and ctrl or alt is dodge.
Looks cool. Thanks for sharing, brah!!!!
This video is the equivalent of the president in the Simpsons saying, "I was elected to lead, not to read." Hope Splat never changes! lol
this games looks pretty cool.
You could have also used the foresight to draw one of the mana cards I believe.
The fact you didn’t read about the reliquary before buying really makes me laugh he searched and searched and it was right under his nose
Diablo II gamblies is the only place to put gold that would otherwise remain on the ground. Also surge was S++ tier.
Fasttravel by flying as a bird is genius
Reliquary: unlocked slot for an additional relic.
"Consume their bodies for more Magic the Gathering" 😂😂
This look like hardcore zelda. Legend of Link
