What if you retire, and have selected survivor benefits and then your spouse dies. Do they stop taking that extra money or are we locked in to that decision?
Can you do a session on the life insurance. Going to retire this December. I have a whole life policy in the amount of 50,000. Should I also take it with the USPS (fegli) but don’t know too much about it. Is it only term life? Thanks

Thanks for asking. Once the retiree submits a death certificate, OPM stops charging for the survivor benefit.
