Tom Ellis plays Lucifer so well he even had a guest role as Lucifer in The Flash S06E09 Crisis on Infinite Earths part 3 where John Constantine visits Lucifer's club for a favor.
It had nothing to do with how well he played it The Crisis was about ALL of the DC and their multiverses. Lucifer Morningstar is a DC Vertigo Character, just like John Constantine (They were both in the Sandman comics). The Production Company for the show is DC Entertainment
One of the great things about the show is that he doesn't lie. No one believes him, but he always tells them the truth about who is is and what he's planning.
The plots in series 1 sometimes feel a bit thin to me but the dialogue and chemistry between the cast caries that off. Tom Ellis just ooozes a dark charm
You have started the best show i had seen in years, the stars of the show are the actors of course, but the writers are the real stars, each episode for me gets better and better, in the first season, keep a eye out for episode 1x09, trust me on this, probably one of the best written episodes of the whole series.
I love Lucifer. He was my crush for very long time. I watched all episodes of the series and still I love going back to them. I'm really happy that I can hear what you thinking about it. I'm sure you will love it.
I have watched this show so many time, and is my fav ever. And Tom Ellis killed this role, I always loved how opened he is and still no one belives him yk. We all would love someone like Lucifer ( from the show haha ) and for me is the best show I ever seen thats just me
Lucifer is not evil.. The premise of the show is something I've always thought about the Devil.. Lucifer is an angel and he never lies cause he doesn't have too. The concept of lying is all on humans.
This is not like the real "Lucifer"....This show's LUCIFER is character from DC comics ....very fun to watch...this is why he is not that EVIL in the show...just in case if you didn't knew!
Welcome to the Lucifan kingdom. It think all of us were hooked from the 1st episode. Of course it had nothing to do with the devilishly handsome Tom. I loved the 1st season cos he could do and say whatever he wanted and had quick cheeky comeback but then they started to give him human characteristics and he had to follow his feelings. Don't get me wrong I still LOVE the show but i started miss the mischievous 1st season 'dont care' Lucifer. I like your reaction, gonna keep watching you so see what you think.
I love how observant & insightful you are - you picked up on so many things instantly that has taken many other reacters multiple episodes to pick up on!
14:58 well I can't tell how many, but what I can tell is that this show is a copy-paste of Castle. The show main character played by Nathan Fillion. Who also play Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly. The difference between two shows is that Castle is a writer not a devil. And Castle was filmed before Lucifer.
Not really, this is coming from someone who has watched both shows. They are the same type of show. Most cop type shows like Castle have a similar if not the same format, but unlike Castle, the cases in Lucifer are really just the background.
The supposed thing about satanism and Satan is that he's supposed to be a humanist. Concerned about mortals here and now instead of rules and morality for the afterlife. He's about self-improvement and knowledge. Remember the Serpent in the Garden of Eden was tempting Eve with the Fruit of Knowledge, not sin or evil. Theologically, Satan wasn't originally a bad guy. He was God's strong man. When people needed to be punished, Satan was the guy God had out to punish them. Once the Jews were held captive in Babylon, the discovered that Zoroastrians had a evil god and a good god. Hebrews up to that point only had God. They took the idea of a "bad god" and placed it on top of the one Hebrew figure that they already feared: Satan. Over time, he became the personification of evil through the Catholic Church, making him the Devil and a demon through added lore.
OMG 😮 I love this series and i haven’t watched anything with you for a long time. Missed you but I’m definitely here for this wonderful show. There are many great characters and their interactions are perfection ❤
I think you are right! Tom was made to play the devil! This was a good sample of what's to come! Glad that you are on this series! Looking forward to watching with you!
this is one of those rare Series that ever character just feels right... they all mesh together to make a highly entertaining and funny series whilst exploring the complexety of life on earth...
It's always lovely to see someone coming new to this show, especially one who appreciates the amazing chemistry between Lucifer & Chloe. Tom Ellis and Lauren German are absolutely wonderful in this show, and the supporting cast (whose characters are revealed a bit more slowly) are also outstanding. Word for the day: "Deckerstar" - the Lucifer & Chloe ship.
Ooh, great reaction. And I think this is one of the most solid pilot episodes introducing the characters. Really looking forward to more. And yes, he always tells the truth, its not his fault no one believes him, lol.
@@divinelangene6813 I'm pretty sure its a matter of principle to him, not that he's physically incapable of it. He does sometimes lie to play jokes on people, like in this episode when he tells Chloe that its been several years when she wakes up to mess with her.
You've just started a most rewarding journey. Right from the start items seen in the pilot will have profound importance throughout the show. Season three should have been broken in half, but for as many times as I've been through it, it does bring us to a revealing climax.
@@divinelangene6813We knew Cain had to be delt with and Lucifer was able to explore most of the human condition. So, yeah, it did feel like it wandered.
I got into Lucifer just before they announced a Season 4 on Netflix. All my regular shows had either ended or lost me by trying to be too much. By chance I read the ridiculous premise expected it to be delightfully bad, only to be delightfully surprised with a genuinely fun, well made show, with an unapoligetically cheeky sense of humor. I was so fatigued by shows trying too hard to be gritty, existential, or profound, it was just such a relief to have show like this again.😍
The first couple of episodes have a weird tone in comparison to the others, as I think they had a slight change of direction based on initial feedback - entirely for the better however. As others have said, Tom Ellis and Lauren German have tremendous chemistry, and the writers have tons of fun playing with Lucifer's behavioural oddities. I'd be VERY surprised if you don't really like this show after, say, three episodes - it seems very much in line with your sensibilities.
YESSSSSSSSS ! Hang on, Sofie, you're in for a fun and sometimes dramatic ride !! My favourite scene: Trixie "Mom, what's a hooker ?" Chloe immediately glares at Lucifer.

Fact: Tom Ellis originally read for Lucifer in an American accent, but decided against it because, to quote Tom Ellis, "He sounded like a dick." Also the actor playing Amenadiel is Principal Wood in Buffy.
Yeah, I was hooked after the first episode. My 3 favourite tv series are Buffy, Lucifer and the walking dead. Lucifer is just hilarious every single episode. The finale I balled my eyes out. God I love this show.
beautiful series, very good and funny actors... a little messed up in the middle seasons but in the end beautiful and fun to watch... you have 93 episodes... in which to have fun, move you... sometimes cry... ..
They originally wanted Tom to use an American accent, but it sounded terrible. Thankfully, they wised up and let him use his real voice. But the American accent does make an appearance at one point.

The idea of Lucifer quitting and going off to run a bar was originally a side-story-thread in the Sandman series of comics, written for DC by the legendary Neil Gaiman. Maze (full name Mazikeen) is a demon who followed Lucifer because she's secretly in love with him. Mazikeen is very different in the comics, but they had to tone her down for the show because a) special effects budget and b) PG rating. Turning it into a police-procedural seemed like a really cheesy idea when the show launched and many comic fans were "pre-offended", but they actually did a pretty good job of weaving the complex supernatural elements and deeper meanings into the story. Two other things you should definitely watch: 1. The blooper reels at the end of each season: the chemistry between the lead actors was real, wonderful and charming. 2. A video on TH-cam of Tom Ellis reading "thirst tweets". How he keeps a straight face I have no idea...🤣
What I absolutely love about this show is they really have a creative way of saying, the only Evil that exists is humans. The Devil only punishes. We with free will only choose to be good or evil.

4:07 Nobody blames the devil for their bad choices or the bad in their lives. They always blame god for doing what can, at most, only ever be the devils work, if not at least their own.
Tom Ellis basically carries this series on his back. It's so bloody fun watching him chew the scenery as Lucifer. It's such a perfect match of actor and character, I just wish it was in a better overall show. The series itself is entertaining enough for what it is, its serviceable but man there was so much more potential to this if it wasn't boxed into being another police procedural. If this show had ever been given a real budget, and been allowed to ditch the procedural elements, it could have been stellar. It's still fun though.
Lucifer really rocks - the casting of not just the leads - but all the supporting actors is so on point - and Tom Ellis was just born to play this role which he does brilliantly!
This show has basically two eras, the Fox era and the Netflix era. Each of them has their own pros and cons. Although I have to admit, I like the Netflix era better. Both eras are great fun though

I think he chooses to tell the literal truth, that way they can't say they didn't know. They made the choice& he never breaks a deal or his word.
Hmm, i wonder if it was in fact a choice that he took on at some point, or if it's intrinsic of his inner character. 🤔
When I first started watching this I thought wow Lucifer is like a blend of James Bond & Deadpool.
