    I remember that before I became a Christian I used to listen to celebrates music and rappers but now I listen to worship music only.

    Putting on worship music whenever I got the urge to listen helped me a lot when I was first trying to stop, and continue to get in the Lord's presence so he can prune you of your desire to hear worldly music!

    I thought I could never give up my music but when I got serious about Jesus the Holy Spirit helped me lose the taste! Now when I hear it it’s not the same!!! Now I see why they call the Holy Spirit “the helper” Plus there is sooo much good Christian music out there! Every day I find a new favorite song!!

    When I was a young Christian I couldn't listen to secular music because it would put me back into that party mind-set and bring back old memories of my sinful lifestyle and tempt me. I couldn't even listen to Christian rock! But as time went on, I could listen to certain secular music because it no longer held memories or enticed me. Now at 64, I can listen to all secular music if I so chose and rock out a little. It doesn't tempt me or stumble me. In fact the music of my generation has become nostalgic and it's nice to go back. This is all a liberty issue and you should listen to your conscience. Some things stumble young Christians that do not stumble older Christians. Time and spiritual maturity makes all the difference.

    • @AnonymousC-lm6tc
      @AnonymousC-lm6tc ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, you should listen to the Holy Spirit, not your “conscience” and surrender to what God desires for your life and spiritual development.

    Such a relevant and necessary topic! Prior to being saved I was always the one to create playlists for parties - my friends ALWAYS asked me to be the “DJ” cause I was obsessed with secular music and always knew the newest songs before anyone else. It’s been a couple years since the Lord stripped away my desire to listen to secular music and I don’t miss it at all 🥺🙌🏽 God is sooo good and if you truly ask Him to help you, He will.
    Oh and a couple months ago at the gym I listened to a “clean” secular song bc I didn’t have any new Christian songs. Let me tell you, the songs the world deems as “clean” songs are still FILLED with sinful lyrics. It was mind blowing. Just reaffirmed why the Lord delivered me of that foolishness.
    God bless you Jessie!

      There was this boy named Devon in my high school class, and when he was a sophomore, you could tell he was down in the dumps. Highly reserved, he listened to a lot of that type of stuff. He was a completely different person by the time he was a senior, and you could tell it just by his school picture. I could see that he had changed inside. He still listens to secular R&B, but he is moving forward and has started to demonstrate his love for Jesus. His senior quote in our yearbook was a Bible verse as a matter of fact! He is still introverted but is no longer as dejected as he once was.

I've been listening to ungodly music for years, simply for liking the beat but honing in on the lyrics is not how I want my son to be raised listening to this. I just deleted my soundcloud app right now! For the past few days I've been listening to soft worship music on TH-cam and the atmosphere in my home and car is so much more peaceful. Someone had a dream. A woman was welcomed onto a stage on television by a TV host, like a late night show. The woman took the mic with applause and stood there, took a deep breath, and then opened her mouth, and vomit--literal vomit--spewed out of her mouth at full firehose rate. It went splashing out of her mouth all over the audience, and as she looked around at the audience so did her stream of vomit all over everyone. To the dreamer, this was the most vile, disgusting thing he/she had ever seen. But the audience just laughed. And the TV host laughed and congratulated the guest. Does this sound familiar? This is like what secular television is to God. If TV looks like this to Him, imagine what secular music is like to Him.

    Its nice to hear that you listen more to Christian music, still, I think that there are many songs that even represent aspects and values that you can find in the bible again. I definitely agree with the point of letting go „bad“ music that normalises sin, still I think there are many songs that do not necessarily stop your bonding with God :) I mean you cannot compare listening to “moral good” music with porn addiction. What are your thoughts on that? :)

    Jessie great video! You look awesome in green! You are so beautiful! 💜 I only listened to hip hop/rap. All those terrible lyrics. I loved it! This is the only time I've experienced divine deliverance. The morning after I got saved that was it. I've never listened to it again and have no desire for it. I get physically ill when I hear it at a store or in someone else's house/car. Every night since then I get in my kid's cars and change their radio station to KLove. After 2 years of that I always found it on KLove. Idk if they quit changing the station or if they only changed it back in the driveway. We've never spoken about it. We all pretended nothing was happening to their cars. 😂😂 My daughter recently got saved and I hear her worship music on all the time. She recently had a baby girl. Baby will only settle down to worship music. Her Dad is not saved and the music bothers him BUT soon very soon!! PTL!!

    Not every single piece of secular music is an evil distraction, the same way not every church is a true one.

      The Bible doesn’t talk about a lot of things in the explicit ways that we would like to see but God is looking at your heart. You should have a discerning spirit to know what is of GOD and what is not. The enemy is extremely subtil and we know that the devil reigns in this world. He definitely has a great hold on the music industry. When I listen to even the songs that don’t seem explicitly evil, the Holy Spirit lets me know a lot of these “love” songs are straight up paying homage to the devil. We know he runs the industry and they don’t allow wholesomeness to reign in abundance. Don’t be fooled. The devil is not all pitchforks and explicit like he would like for you to believe. He is very subtil and we need to know how he works. Allow the Holy Spirit to come into your heart and let it guide your walk. Be blessed.

      Anton Hanna search this song on TH-cam SPELLZ by Revelation of Jesus Christ ministries. It's a Christian song that will help you see the demonic/witchcraft backdrop of the music industry particularly rap. You can also listen to some of his other songs, you might like it cos he does Christian rap. He also teaches and I particularly like his dinner table messages. Also search Zac Poonen if you're looking for biblical teachers of the word. GOD bless and give you grace to press forward.

    Lots of good points, and food for thought. 😊👍
    1 Corinthians 6:12 comes to mind. Also Philippians 4:8-9. Some music is straight up dishonoring to God, but some that seem nice and sweet and romantic might be bringing up memories of an ex, or a worldly way of viewing relationships. Most secular relationships are about doing whatever is good for you. Period. So yeah it's hard to catch the subtle message sometimes. You are right Jessie, we have to pray that the Lord give us wisdom and discernment.

    Resist the devil and he will flee. Our job is to resist. Which means, when we feel the urge, we pray. We fight in prayer. In praise and worship. He will always give us the way out. Amen. That works with everything: cursing, anger, unGodly things. Resist and he will flee.

    The KING of KINGS, LORD of LORDS is coming soon! Come Lord Jesus 🙏🏾 Titus 2:13 KJV ❤
    📖1 Corinthians 15: 1-4 KJV🙌🏾
    1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    📖Ephesians 2: 8-9 KJV🙏🏾
    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    I'm sorry but it's hard for me I'm addicted to oldies. I hate today's generation of music. But I grew up listening to 70s and 80s music. Breaking away from oldies is a struggle for me. I do listen to a lot of worship and Christian music but when I am stressed out or need something upbeat oldies is my go to. Pray for me.

    Have you found good Christian metal bands? Am lead to believe that much in terms of modern music, especially pop and rap, is very satanic and explicitly evil so I get you wanting to get away from it. But for music that isn't explicitly evil but has good things lyric wise, could it just be about discernment instead of being about completely distancing from it leading one to become spiritually weird on the one hand, or being engrossed in it and having it conform you to satanic culture? I personally try to not listen to anything until I've first read, prayed and put on the armor of God, and if I expose myself to any music or movies, I pray about it for protection and discernment. Appreciate these encouraging videos and appreciate your heart to want to bless and help others in their faith. God bless you, Jesus loves you.

    Okay so this is a loaded topic for me but first I'd like to say that green velvet looks great on you. I also never thought of you as a rocker chick so I feel like you're more relatable now, which is great.
    So I've struggled with music for a long time, I've thrown out my secular music collection a couple times which helps me to realize I can live without it. Normally I would try to avoid the obviously bad stuff that has fowl language and sexually explicit lyrics or even the really evil looking stuff with pentagrams/goat heads and questionable lyrics. Like you said, it just doesnt feel right listening to that stuff.
    Music influences us SO much and I can see that more now since I last threw out my secular music.
    What are your thoughts on secular music that is lyrically clean?
    You mentioned secular and worship music, but what are your thoughts on Christian rock/metal? Do you think its dishonorable?(Phil 4:8) and also what are your thoughts on Bethel and Hillsong worship music? I've seen some of their celebrations that look downright pagan and some pastors advise against listening to the music they produce. So because of that I usually opt for hymns. What do you think?

    If someone truly loves God and is truly a Christian this process happens automatically. The first time you hear secular music after you've been saved is total hatred for the singer singing the song exaulting themselves above the most high and wagging war against the most high. The thought of engaging with someone who is against my maker makes me sick, makes me angry - I hate sin, I hate Satan, I hate everything that vile beast is behind. Why would any real Christian listen to secular music. It is immediate when you truly love Jesus!!!

    Secular music was great in the late 50's and early 60's. Lot of good stuff coming out of Motown Records. But now half the songs that come out are nothing but F-bombs and n-words. I'm pretty sure the Bible would be against listening to that kind of stuff.
