It's strange she brought up diversity. If someone who is qualified is picked over someone just for the sake of diversity, that's a good thing. Diversity for diversity's sake is ridiculous. Merit is the best way forward.

I appreciate her goals but her logic is flawed. We need to hire qualified people, not hire, according to a quota. You're right, you are qualified and you should want these other young women to be hired based on their qualifications.
I believe you have echoed her point exactly: that these young women could one day be hired based on their qualifications. They can only become qualified if they know that this path in life is a possibility for them. I caught no mention of quotas in her logic, and nothing that sounded untrue to me.
@@SamCAviation She says diversity is important, but then went on to say she is qualified. Merit and qualifications should be the ONLY determining factors, not diversity.
@@SamCAviationand that path usually starts with a solid family, discipline and education. Once the black community embraces these necessary foundations, there will be more black female pilots. There is nothing virtuous about NOT articulating the real problem.
@Piercetheveilnow airlines are 97% white and male. And it isn't due to the lack of qualified poc. Legal segregation was only ended around 50 years ago. Racist assumptions is a legit reason why more ppl like her weren't hired so yes its valid that she brought it up. Plenty of qualified poc were and are put to the back of application stack not b/c of there resume but b/c of their skin
Diversity is NOT as important as qualification. They made this woman appear to be speaking out for something that I don't think she actually is. I think she's just justifying her qualifications and they made a commercial to take her out of context about DEI.
Send this to Candace Owens, who said she would be “terrified” to fly with a woman pilot because said woman had to be hired to fulfill DEI requirements. I will fly anywhere with this woman!!!!!
Since when has being against hiring people based on their appearance meant you’re insecure? Before commenting, it’s a good idea to stick to using words that are in your vocabulary. Using words that aren’t (such as “insecure”) will make you sound like an idiot. Also try not to get so angry before commenting. Hope that helps 😁😂
Good question! Response: Because you live in a very very racist and racial oriented country. Most people outside of the US don't care at all about these details. Not anymore. When you have a country built on racism and discrimination, which has practiced slavery for centuries and then segregation for decades, what do you expect as an outcome? Don't complain about the generated mindset ! Blame the people who generated the mindset by their behavior!
My father-in-law was one of her instructors when she was in the Air Force , she is an awesome woman!
Congratulations, LTC Claiborne. Job well done, what a fine career.
Protect this woman at all costs ❤
I salute you with confidence that you are qualified.
I love it! Thank you for you service, military and civilian.
Thank you.
God bless America!
GOD Bless you.
Proud of you, my dear.
Just excellent ~ that her true calling was fulfilled ~🙌🏾🙌🏿🙌🏽🦋🦋
Well done young lady!
You go girl. Congratulations 🎉
❤How great it is
How could we be on one of her flights? Would love to meet her and be aboard as she captains the aircraft.
Unfortunately, she's now retired. She's definitely a legend! 🏆 #legend #retirement
Why tf would you want to do that? 😂
I hope one day I will qualify to meet and greet this legend
She is qualified , doesn't matter if she's black or a woman

Agree, qualification has nothing to do with race.
She is the only one who is making a point of it.
It does matter.
There was a time when less qualified white applicants were picked over more qualified minorities. Let's not forget that was a real thing.
Incredible
Awesome! Fly high!
Beautiful ❤
Bravo!

I love hearing aviators who have unique and special stories. What an amazing addition to the aviation community.
Qualified isn’t diversity
You are the best 😊
Just see this congrats are in order 🎉🎉🎉 you got girl🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

How about a group to encourage everyone instead. I was discriminated against and needed NO group to make me successful
Theres a difference in qualified and most qualified. A 16 yo is qualified to drive. That doesnt mean they are the most qualified.
So proud of
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You just answered your own question. You're the most qualified. Duuuuh. Point proven. DEI doesn’t work at 30,000 ft.
periodt
Anyone is qualified for anything, they just have to believe it.
😀
wow a true first
What a nice story!
There goes Right Wingers on DEI in aviation, as if they know anything.
Send this to Candace Owens, who said she would be “terrified” to fly with a woman pilot because said woman had to be hired to fulfill DEI requirements.
I will fly anywhere with this woman!!!!!
Candice Owens is a dimwit.
Copy that ……..
So yes I will be the little black girl real soon 2025 pilot Lawanna on board
I love this - I’m a white male pilot and cannot understand the insecurity I see in these comments

So you don't care about promoting flying for ALL women, you only care about promoting 'women of *color*'.................? Seems a little bigoted no?
Because it has been about race and gender since the beginning. Minorities didn't create that dynamic.
@@4kstar-ve3hmminorities didn’t create anything of any real value 😂
It can’t be bigoted if it’s about excluding white people 😂

Correct
...........why do we have to make everything about race and gender, when the capability of this position has NOTHING to do with race or gender?
