online school was just so difficult. i do both well both online and in person but teachers are so difficult and the online school work load is insane
I legit almost failed all my classes mind you usually i get B's and A's
i personally prefer online school but my only issue is the increased workload/difficulty to “insure no one is cheating” which literally forces me to cheat since there is too much work to do and there isn’t enough time. Like for finals I study a lot but i end up having to resort to cheating just to pass (mind you I usually get straight As in school) it’s ridiculous

Being disabled and immunocompromised during all of this is hell. I have IBD and I'm currently in a flare. I ask myself will there be room in the hospital? Will I be treated? Do I risk getting covid from being in the hospital? I get infusions at the hospital too is that even safe? What if the nurses aren't vaccinated?

Suburban black girl here. When I was younger I also used that language because of bitterness and lack of empathy. As I grew older and had many humbling life experiences; I learned a lot. Even the people who where picking on me where hurting the world is messed up and it benefits no one to lash out at other people. After all just like you they are making do with what they have and trying to live.
I have a similar experience. And I have also learned that this world is messed up. And we are all trying to survive. We need more empathy and education for sure.
i never used that language but i will admit when i was younger i thought i was better than them (my family who live in the “hood”) but now i’ve grown so that’s not the case anymore. but what i’ve noticed is that they use that own language on themselves. like i’ve been called white by them my whole life for different things but a recurring reason was that i’m quiet and i just tell them that i don’t have to be loud to be black. they’ve also called me white for listening to pop music, not stealing, etc and i’m like do you not realize what you’re saying about black people as whole. i don’t say anything rude to them, though, because at the end of the day i know it’s just a difference of the environment we grew up in, which we didn’t have control over and there’s no reason to get on each other like that.
my school starts in a week and i just know that there is going to be gaggles of unvaxxed ppl perusing around with absolutely no masks to be seen. it's not like they cared before, but at least i had the option to stay home. online school was awful, but going to school in fear is not much of a step up

Now he's just as bad as the other teachers, no hes WORSE.

I went to a middle school in Brooklyn, NYC that had a mixture of inner city black/Latino kids and suburban white/non-black POC/black kids and a lot of suburban black kids purposely did not rock with inner city black kids bc they were inner city black kids they only hung with inner city kids that were non black (aka racially ambiguous Latinos and Latinas they had crushes on) or the inner city black kid that was bullied in the hood for being “white, liking anime, etc”, and I admit to being one of those latter bullied kids lmaooo. Additionally a lot of these suburban black kids were the first to give the green light to make their white kids being mini-KKK a$$holes to us inner city black kids but will be the first to be like “bLaCk kIdS dIdn’T lIkE mE bC I wAsN’T hOoD eNoUgH” chileee
But I don’t want use this experience to generalize black suburban kids as bad or lying about having their blackness challenged bc like I said I grew in the hood being bullied for being nerdy and alternative but I’m speaking from my experience most inner city black kids had classist mentality and more bullied black kids in their environment and gave passes/was less resentment towards black kids that lived in better economic circumstances and associated liking things that aren’t popularized in lower class communities to whiteness and middle/upper class places
Thank you for sharing, that's really important to hear. WS is a trip, it really has people in our communities hating on each other & making us seek validation from all the wrong people. When you're a kid you don't care & just want to be accepted however you can. You may even let others disrespect you in the process.
I went to a mixed school in elementary, with hood & suburban kids, then in middle/high school we moved to an all white suburban area. In elementary I chilled with everyone, despite living in the suburbs at that time bc I was born in the hood, had family from there, & was comfortable. I got bullied a little, but not bad.
In the all white school I was ostracized more than I was bullied (to my face). Plus jr high is all about those social relationships & status. The cliques come in heavy. So I began assimilating & trying to be exactly like them, from changing my hair to my clothes to my speech. I didn't realize how damaging it was until later. I was never my true self. I only spoke up when the white kids said some crazy racist shit, so they were scared of me. Yet I still wanted to blend in. Crazy, right?
@@ambriaashley3383 I totally get it middle school and especially high school are like perfect places to where all the social-political and cultural issues that are toxic to our lives clashes the most bc children and teenagers are just developing into life, learning certain aspects and prejudices from their family backgrounds and go to educational institutions where they are around people that are the same age as them but still different or similar depending on it. It’s like being in a train wreck, yet entertaining reality TV show in the vein of the real world, bad girls club, and America’s next top model

i have one side of my family that is very medically educated and got their vaccines and then one side who are super anti-vax and no mask it was from this side that a family member did not tell me they have covid and I got from them. I'm asthmatic and was taking it all very seriously so I was beyond angry when this happened especially since I just became eligible to get vaccinated when it happened.
Said family member kept denying that they gave it to me and they had covid at all and it was weeks later that they admitted that they had, had it. Ever since then I have found that I have a harder time breathing in general and asthma problems a lot faster then I did before.
As soon I got cleared after having covid to get my vaccine it was eligible for everyone and it was very hard to find an appointment, but I was able to get one.
I don't care how paranoid it might seem but even though I'm vaccinated I still wear my mask in public places indoors and I'll even wear it outside if it looks slightly crowed because I trust no one.
And if it is just suggested to get a covid booster I'm gonna be there so fast. I'm so sick a tired of the lies and disinformation that is getting spread around.
I'm not taking any risks and I'm not trusting anyone including many family members. Also our government needs to go back to giving out a stimulus check or two even if it is not for a lot of money. Honestly they never should have stopped in the first place. I don't know maybe make it that people who got vaccinated get their stimulus check first or something. The stimulus checks never should have been allowed to stop and with rising delta variant cases and the reality that this will lead to things slowing down the Gov needs to go back to giving out the checks and helping out people because so many of us need the fiscal support.
