If I may ask - is there a reason for not using a larger surfacing bit when levelling off the inserts. I greatly admire your work particularly your design ability. James
Question: Once the inlay in tapped in place with the mallet, do you use any kind of press to make sure the inlay is seated or is the use of a soft mallet adequate?
He isn’t great at answering questions here, but the answer is that you do have to clamp it down because the wood will expand from the moisture in the glue and it will not sit properly unless either weights or clamping of some type is used while it dries. My guess - because he is FAR better at this then I am - is that they put the whole piece between 2 other boards and clamp them all together tightly.
Expansion happens as a percentage of the size of the piece of wood, so for all of the small pieces, they’ll only move a tiny bit. More importantly, soaking in mineral oil fills up the grain, which is why boards should be treated with mineral oil periodically to prevent exactly what you’re talking about.
Please get rid of the dumb drama music ... it doesnt make our viewing experience any better than if having just got to hear the actual sounds of the machinery, tools, processes, etc
How to find inlay parameters.

when you were putting glue down on the walnut, the machining sounds in the background matched up perfectly lol.

Amazing craftsmanship thx for sharing
I admire your work, what precision is required to get good quality inlay without gaps? (0.5 mm?)
It has to be all end grain to get this kind of resolution, right?
It don't get no better than this.
Nice bro , you are master

Veramente bello grazie del video dal italia!!!
How much would something like the Hobo board cost to purchase? A lot of work goes into it for sure! Thx
What a fantastic piece! Which software did you use to design it?
Hola excelente trabajo, me preguntó si podrías hacer un vídeo del preceso de como se hace, por favor, saber que herramienta usar
With different species of wood like that, is there any chance of it cracking long-term as they expand and contract at different rates?

👍👍👍👍
super
is this a painting or a cutting board? In any case, I would use as a picture)))
