@@drscopeifyhe doesn't appear to need an opposition at the moment as he and his government have fumbled so many things so early into his tenure. I don't see it letting up. That being said you're absolutely right that if he has the backbone, he can ride it out for 5 years. After that though, it's hard to see how he wins again
This is the thing, they have a ‘mandate’ to sit in government for 5 years. However, I think we’re going through ‘unprecedented’ political change in the UK. The labour government has been elected in a rather unusual way, getting less votes than it did previously, but winning a large majority. This is a consequence of the FPTP system we have, but it doesn’t secure a stable government, when you have a party out of touch with people’s wishes and desires. I expect we could see much more civil unrest and protest, as this government has policies which go against the majority of people’s wants and desires, more people will be unhappy. The result could be an early demise for the government.
Germany with its drive towards high cost manufacturing over several decades underpinned by a change in work ethic and a drive to a green dynamic not being followed by competitors will in my opinion cause Germany to enter a deindustrialising spiral similar to the one seen in the UK in the 60s and 70s while it’s need to subsidise the weaker members of the EU will limit its ability to recover itself. It’s a bit - well I’ll let you choose the word?
I imagine those still bleating on about Brexit killing our country won’t notice this or see it as vindication for why we left. Eu climate policy and immigration have become major issues. Who would us thought, those who voted for leaving. It was very clear it was not working, that’s why it’s starting to disintegrate country by country as no border centralised control enforcing socialist policies of control are inevitably being rejected. To thrive we need less government and less owners legislation enables people to do business. Rather than fundamentally hamstringing this basic driver of growth
This guy is also the Talksport German correspondent - is there anyone in England that covers both sports and politics? I'm suspicious now of both his knowledge bases...jack of all trades?
Why Germany don't stop to follow Washington in the nonsense of the Ukraine conflict, and struck a deal with Russia to get cheaper energy, and revitalize their economy. Thats defend the interests of the German citizens should be a priority, instead of defend strategic positions of others
How long before Starmer falls? Woke never lasts long.
He is really solid and has no opposition. I highly doubt he is going anywhere for the next 5 years
@drscopeify Labour is finished forever after there term.
