For some reason, the past few seasons in league I've been focused on hitting a specific board 10-15 ft down the lane. As a result, my average has dropped 20+ pins. There was a time when I just visualized an area down the lane to hit and let everything else fall in place. Starting to think I messed up big time. However, in tournaments and Nationals, my average has gone up 30-40 pins. So confusing.
Cool gizmo... I would like you to use it in all your ball reviews from here on out. Possibly 2 of these, one up front and one at the break point. Are these 3r 5nw lasers ? Or more powerful. Looking forward to the next one for the breakpoint.
I was lucky enough to spend a weekend working with CK Moore. He literally smacked me in the head and told me stop looking at arrows and dots. He explained that what I needed to worry about the break point. Find it. Then move my body around it until it struck. So I did. He explained that, yes, your ball can do certain things before it gets to the break point, that it didn't really matter until that moment, when it turned my ball toward the pocket. So that made sense. So I tried that. And how shocking, he was correct. So now I can't even look at the dots, or the arrows. I can't understand anyone who does. Yes, I understand the three point targeting system. I just never use the arrows or dots. I don't even know what board my ball crosses at the arrows. I kind of use the pocket as part of my targeting with a quick glance before focusing on the break point, but that is about it. Where all my "buddies" use the dots or arrows, and continually cry about how they hit the arrow and why didn't it strike.. I smile to myself. They are so worried about this one little board, meanwhile I tell them I am rolling at a "swimming pool".. I have at least a five or six board area I can roll over and hit pocket. And to tell the truth, I hate when I hit exactly where I am looking.. that one little half inch spot in the middle of my "pool" because it looks so perfect.. that I know I am leaving a ten pin. I look down lane and see this huge area of miss room. Inside? It slides across the oil and boom. Outside? It breaks a little harder and boom. All I need to do is find the angle that makes my ball roll into the pocket. So I do that during practice. I find it. I use it. As it transitions, so do I. My angles may change, my break point does not for the most part. I have learned to adjust my eyes farther down if the lanes are drying out during a tourney. Maybe a foot or two, but the theory is the same. Heavier oil, I adjust my eyes closer. Maybe that is not normal, but it seems if I want my ball to break at forty feet, I just roll it there, and on the same lane, if I need it to turn at forty three feet, I just roll it there. Perhaps I am weird that way. I don't know. None of my buddies can do it. Except one, and he was mentored by CK as a teen. But anyways. I can't use dots or arrows now. I just use my eyes, and roll where I think I need it to turn left. It's probably wrong to create my own break point, that is not always at the end of the oil pattern. And maybe that is not actually happening, and it just looks that way. But it sure looks like it is to me. And learning it took me from a 180ish to a 220ish avg. And it really helps me on challenge and sports shots. Rolling on a 37 foot pattern and deciding I want my ball to turn left at 43 and it does is a big help. I can start by standing on the 15 board and end up on the 30 board just by changing the angle I need to roll up. But this tool you have created.. I'm telling all my buddies about it. I think it's a fantastic idea. I can see how it will help them tremendously. Anyways, always a big fan of yours. Excellent vid. ^^^note: We don't have range finder boards at my House so that sucks

I think Simonson also looks at the foul line. I like it because you only have two points instead of 3 to target. (lay down and breakpoint)
