I want to make sure I have this guy's story straight:
He started in Ukraine by providing IFAKs and medical training to Ukrainians, he then went on to become light infantry in the conflict but left to Poland and became a drone operator. After returning to Ukraine he was a drone operator in the legion but ended up resigning his post after some disagreement with the command. After resigning, while other issues were going on with his life like his relationship breaking up, and other family issues he got drunk and decided to text an enemy combatant about an alleged war crime he committed, which he didn't really commit, to make the enemy combatant upset. Some journalists came asking him about his alleged warcrimes and eventually turned the thing into a hit piece and also there was a coordinated propaganda effort with deep-fakes of him saying inflammatory things. In response to all this negative attention his friends in the legion stopped communicating with him because they believed he was actively helping the Russians.
    Is that correct?
Look, I'll be the first to say I am not fit for war, that I would crap myself and cry in real combat, but this dude's story is wild. He has a lot of excuses for everything, which I feel is worse than anything else. He left for the first time for an excuse, he left for the second time for an excuse, he made up that warcrime story being drunk as an excuse, the journalists that interviewed him were "leftists pro-russians" is another excuse. This guy is probably hated because he went over there, gave the enemy a prime propaganda piece and all he has are excuses. I think Willy was trying to be too agreeable with his point about "we all do dumb things and wouldn't you want to crap-talk the enemy," this dude was no longer in the Ukrainian military and claiming he was committing warcrimes under their flag. You really should have needled him on all his excuses especially about what he wrote to the enemy combatant.

When I was in ukraine in 2020, they passed laws designed to limit the use of russian language throughout ukraine. My russian teachers in odessa were shocked that they weren't technically allowed to use their native language when speaking to a waiter in a restaurant. And businesses were prohibited from using russian on signs or in advertising. The same thing was happening in latvia when I was there in 2018. Maybe it doesn't justify an invasion, but when people ignore this they are missing the whole picture. Russophobia is a real thing even if it sounds silly.

Im the 1000th comment. So let an actual guy that was in war as kid chime in. I was born in Nova Gradiska, Croatia, right on the border to Bosnia. 91-96 We had many foreign fighters come "help". On both sides. So they got 1000, we got 1000 and in the middle were my family, friends. My Mom and Grandmother, I was a kid. And after a while we realised these people just want to get their kick. Some even went home on Sunday evening to Austria etc. to work from Mo-Fr. We called them weekend soldiers. They didn't give a sh*t about who they fight, civilians. They screamed in joy when civilians died when they tortured POWs etc. (This scream when US soldiers see a bomb explode).
When our military realized they are having fun here and were also stealing, murdering civilians, raping, our army didn't let them go home no more. We used them as attack groups were it was exceedingly difficult. We made use of them. And they were great fertilizer for our trees to grow. Thank you nameless adrenaline junky.
