‘Absolutely disgraceful’: ‘Gag order’ on residents over renewables slammed

  • The Australian’s Contributing Economics Editor Judith Sloan has slammed the “absolutely disgraceful” gag order given to residents who agree to have a renewable installation in their area.
    “You have to sign a gag order - so basically, you have to talk favourably about renewable energy and say that you love the turbines,” she told Sky News Australia.
    “But here’s the point that if you violate that gag order, they reserve the right to withdraw the monetary compensation - it is absolutely disgraceful.”

    Where's the EPA on these grubs, oh that's right, Every Project Approved. 🤔

    • @margaretarmstrong2445
      @margaretarmstrong2445 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many thousands of submissions have been put to the EPA against hundreds of renewables projects. There is a great deal of knowledge and expertise amongst those submissions and all of this information is ignored. Of course the issues around wind turbines, solar panels and backup batteries are exactly the same for every project yet we are expected to submit submissions for each and every project. The numerous risks and fact based objections have to be presented over and over and even when the EPA refers some issues back to the developer they take the word of the developer every time. We are so sick of the lies being told.
      We have more than 50 projects in the pipeline for our beautiful region alone. It's hard to get the numbers for the submissions with small populations and we received notification on a recent project that as the number of submissions received totalled 49 it will automatically be approved. It goes before a panel if you can get more than 50 submissions but you only get five minutes to present your case. It is so humiliating trying to present all that you know in just five minutes. It's pretty much a waste of time anyway, their eyes glaze over and they don't seem to be listening.
      There needs to be a Royal Commission into renewable energy. What is happening out here in the regions is devastating.

      It was the LNP who under Howard/Anderson in 2002 brought in the Renewable Energy Act.
      This act created a honeypot subsidy environment where those companies’ building turbines are paid between $600K - $900K per turbine per annum to companies wanting to build wind turbines, in just this subsidy alone which taypayers money is sent offshore and funnelled into shelf companies leaving farmers with a massive bill if anything happens to them like catching on fire.
      This subsidy is reaming $40B per year out of the Australian economy and is paid by ALL Australians via our power bills.

They also admitted that they had to install turbines gas heaters to "unfreeze" the turbines, due to freezing weather before, they could get them to operate. Just a sample of the coverup there, and Australia in years to come will hear the truth, when it is all too late, and the Political proponents are sitting back on huge taxpayer funded superannuation benefits.

    Why the fukc should the panels be anywhere that there is green grass. Those obviously are areas of high rainfall and thats detrimental for sun shine.
    We got huge areas of low rainfall and most constant sunshine of any areas

      @johngeier8692 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. In Northern Europe vast numbers of solar panels are frequently covered in snow in winter. There is widespread inappropriate uneconomical use of solar panels in many parts of the world. Taxpayers money should not be squandered on this.

    An official sorry from government in this respect would require either an absolute conservative majority (in which case there’s indeed very dark days ahead before we reach that), or the political left would be required to display a level of contrition we could only dream of. 🤔

    Australia is sometimes very backward in regard to getting things done. Nuclear is the cheapest and cleanest form of energy, and the spent rods if they have energy left in them they can be recycled.
