closing egr will not cause overboost if turbo is in good condition

    Hello vagecumap,
First of all thank you for all your videos, they are very well made, very clear and easy to understand! After watching them all i have been able to perform some basic remapping on my PD130, although i will still be getting a professional map as i do not have the experience to be able to produce a map to the standard a professional would!
I have started another project which also uses an EDC15 and I was wondering if you would point me in the right direction? The standard vehicle uses a wategate turbo however this is controlled by the ecu using a vacuum actuator and an N75 valve or similar. I have fitted a vnt turbo in place of the wastegate turbo and therefore would like to map the ecu such that it controls the vanes rather than a wastegate. What would be involved in order to do this?
    Thank you,
    James

Compare your 'wastegate turbo file' with an early 'vnt turbo' file. some of the maps will swap over. The 'wastegate' file probably uses map sensor output for N75 control so you need a 'vnt turbo' file that also uses map sensor control of N75. Look on ecuconnections.com. People have done this before.

I hava a small question, i replaced turbo in my AFN vnt15 to gt1749 from passat 130hp so , should i change n75 AFN map for this one from vw passat? i thnik afn n75 map can be to light to spool quicker bigger turbo... mabye im wrong?

Use original N75 first. Modify it if you need to.

I used ori AFN n75 map, but turbo didnt spool so fast as vnt15, i know gt17 is bigger but in passat it got full boost around 2000rpm, in my car 2500.... i used ori AFN pressure map 1950 max boost.

Use winols. Compare AFN N75 with 130 N75.

    Maybe someone here knows this:
I have been told that closing the EGR (switch bit) will cause overboost @WOT. I have indeed seen that actual boost is (much) higher then requested, sometimes even (short) over the limit of 2500mbar (with my turbo).
Someone with experience told me to change the VNT map to a point that actual is just slightly above requested and this is what I'm doing right now. Overboost, as big as 250mbar, can't harm the turbo as long as it stays within limits, but will reduce the lifespan of the turbo unnecessarily.
    Can someone acknowledge this story?

This has nothing to do with boost levels, Its the VNT flanges angel, Its just to make the turbo more effektivt on low rpm. Nothing to do with max boost or boost levels.
Its not percent, its DC fot the solenoid, and its the angel of the VNT blades. Again nothing to do with boost level. Just effeicency of the turbo.

In VAG ecu files the N75 values are % duty cycle for turbocharger vane closing and these values are factory set to match the most likely boost vs IQ requirements. The N75 map acts as the start point for PID control.
