  • Driving from SF to Seattle on I-5, somewhere right around where you're ready to pull over for the night, you'll see granite spires poking out. I've driven past them for years and finally decided to make a pit stop.
We climbed Cosmic Wall which is 700' of chill, romping goodness that tops out on a ridge summit. With 2500' of elevation gain on a winding hiking trail, it's a great way to stretch the legs. Engaging climbing, knobs, horns, runnels and views of Mt. Shasta. Not for the budding 5.6 climber as pro is sparse, but the climbing is secure. Took us 6hr car-to-car and I highly recommend it as a way to split up the monotonous I-5 drive.
Climbed with my friend Brad who is recovering from a pelvic and heel injury hence the AFO brace you can see him wearing on the approach and descent!

Have you thought of climbing North Point Rock in the crags? It's the talles point/pinnacle in the crags at 7,200'. It's at the very top of the crags on the far north side. You can get amazing view of it from Heart Lake, Little Castle Lake. Not sure how you would be able to hike up to it without a tremendous amount of effort but I seriously doubt if anyone has ever even tried to climb it, considering it's remoteness in the Crags WIlderness. I would love to hike accross the the whole crags formation from one end to the other. It's actually about 5 miles long & 3 miles wide. Like a miniature Yosemite & just as ancient. A very cool place to hike, climb, camp. I've been going there since '85 & will keep coming back for more.

@2:20 that's a sketchy belay. One horn, one sling, and hand over handing with a micro trax? Lol, everything is ok until it's not...the mountain doesn't care if you crush hard routes and this one is just for fun. It'll still kill you if you take it too lightly.

Congestion on a great climb! Also what size cams did you use? Was the hike long? I don’t want to bring more gear than I’m going to need. Please and thank you
